Herbststimmung in den Dolomiten

Marmolada is known as "The Queen of The Dolomites", although its limestone is not exactly the dolomia. This shot was taken from the Sassopiatto Refuge, at 2300 meters above sea level . It is the main glacier in the Dolomites, almost disappeared due to global warming

Capture taken during last years autumn visit to the Dolomites area. Overall, the weather during that week was not that fortunate to us, but overall for past couple of years, still no complaint. All a good remainder of the week. Thanks, Udo.

View from Little Lagazuoi in a northerly direction (I assume: Lavarella, Conturines).

It was kind of surprise to me, that nobody else around that morning...all a good weekend ahead. More time for hobbies soon...Thanks, Udo.

View from Seceda

Early season hiking saw us traversing some lingering snow on our approach to Forcella Lagazuoi in the Dolomites. We were following the Alta Via 1, a 150-kilometre-long high-level trail which runs through the eastern Dolomites in Italy. It is also known as the Dolomite High Route 1. This is the classic high route in the Dolomites, and also the easiest. The descent from the pass we had crossed earlier (mouseover left edge of image) looked anything but easy. Taking it one step at a time our fear gave way to exhilaration.

Close to the Rifugio Lavarella in the Dolomites

En route to Passo Cir, Sass Ciampac and the Puez Hut. Not long out of the cold mist which shrouded the Passo Gardena. A great day ahead!

A morning where everything is thrown at you snow sleet high winds and amongst all that a break in the clouds at sunrise which lit up the far mountain range in the Dolomites.

Capture taken during the August trip to the Dolomites. First time, that I have been able to enjoy a sunrise from there, and is difficult to forget the atmosphere with the conditions on that morning...All a good weekend ahead! Some snow here...Thanks, Udo.

Carezza Lake – Dolomites, Italy

One of those moments every landscape photographer dreams of — dramatic clouds wrapping the peaks, golden light breaking through the storm, and the emerald reflection painting the surface of the lake.

I waited for that fleeting instant when the sun pierced the clouds, revealing the lake’s crystal-clear waters and the intricate textures beneath. The contrast between the cold alpine tones and the warm sunset glow made this scene unforgettable.

I have just spent 10 days traveling around Northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia and Venice. We clocked up 2,800km in 6 1/2 days and have seen some of the most beautiful places.
