Jazz just has such an expressive face and enjoyed her first trip to the playground immensely. There should be playground equipment at dog parks!

I am so sorry to announce that our sweet Zoey has passed on.
While she'd slowed down quite a lot these past six months, she was such a cheerful, joyful little thing right up until the night she passed away. She let us know it was her time, and she simply fell asleep. It was so gentle. Zoey always did things her own way, and this was certainly no exception.
I had her with me just three years, but our time together was eventful and we had so many adventures and she embraced her new home here in Colorado. She'd prance and pull on the leash during every neighborhood walk (we called this stance "proud tail" because that little tail would be UP SO HIGH!). She made friends everywhere she went, even (and especially) with kids. She was so gentle and small, and she was so patient with the little ones. Walking her was like walking a moth on a string.
It's so hard to type these words. I'm so grateful to the MMR and all the excellent work you do. You brought her in, gave her a kind, loving foster mother in wonderful Rebecca Levine, and you helped Zoey find her way to me. I'm so pleased Zoey was selected as our February girl in the 2012 MMR calendar, and I treasure all of the photos we took that day -- we took dozens upon dozens to get the right one for Zoey, and every snap captured her sweetness and determination! I'd like to encourage all our forever parents to take lots of pictures because they are such a comfort. And I'd also like to encourage future adopters to consider senior dogs. We have these seniors for such a short amount of time, but every moment with them is so valuable. Senior dogs have so few demands: Zoey was so happy with a good meal, a warm place to sleep, and short walks. I will always, always choose senior dogs for the love they give. It's like they KNOW the time is short, and they love you twice as much for it.
I've attached a photo of Zo, snapped right after she'd broken free from the calendar photo shoot and headed for the water dish, that big, now-crumpled bow now forgotten and trailing behind her. That's who she was. That determined little chin gets me every time.
I hope this message finds all of you well. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your hard work and true affection for these dogs. You are doing such good and essential work for all these dogs and the people who adore them.

Over 12,000 walkers gathered in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, October 18th to participate in the 19th Annual CHOC Walk at Disneyland to support the Children's Hospital of Orange County.
Walkers wore colorful T-Shirts, carried balloons, and displayed homemade signs in honor of children that are fighting illnesses and in memory of children that had lost their battle. There were also signs saying "Thank You" for those that have been cured. Despite our current recession, they managed to raise $1.5 million.
The route was a 5k walk piped with energetic music through Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure and ending in Downtown Disney. Walkers were encouraged along the way by Disney Characters, Disney employees, musicians, cheerleaders and volunteers.
I want to personally thank everyone that supported me for the walk. Your donation will not go wasted!
This was taken with a Mamiya C33 TLR with a 135mm lens. Lighting was supplied by two Home Depot lights (the ones with the aluminum reflectors and clamp) with a 100 watt bulb in each. The film was Ilford HP5 Plus.
We drove to Utah to pick up Benni's cream colored brother. This was taken the day we first saw the puppies. Benni's loving, bouncing personality made us forget the little male puppy. Benni was probably separated from Mom and siblings for the first time in this photo. We left her there with her mother for another 5 days before we brought her home. Never regretted the choice for one minute - she was just our dog.
Went to volunteer at this shelter walking dogs, clean up etc. these are some of the pups available for adoption. some of them left to go to an adoption event I hope they found some great humans.
