The Infinity Doctor is a Dr Who book. Discovered that when I Googled Infinity and Doctor to title this photo. I reckoned there had to be a photo in this but maybe it’s more the story in my mind than the actual photo (and maybe that’s what photography is about): the corridor that links old with new - the old Victorian wing of the hospital to the new buildings, aging and rebirth, the near infinity perspective, the blues and yellows of the colour wheel combining, or the doctor far in the distance who’s busy working oblivious to the phone shot being taken. No matter what story I can create from this one photo, I don’t want to be back near that corridor for a very long time - you don’t visit hospitals for architecture or photo opportunities let’s face it. I still can’t get the perspective exactly right and it’s driving me nuts lol.

This is just me in the backyard.

Doctor's Gate -

FRom Wiki.. -

"Doctor's Gate is a Roman road in the Derbyshire Peak District of England, which ran between Melandra fort at Glossop and Navio fort at Brough-on-Noe. Doctor's Gate was recorded in 1627 as "Docto Talbotes Gate", named after Dr John Talbot who is attributed with improving the summit section in the late 15th century and 'gate' is derived from the Scandinavian word for road."

St Thomas was "called the Doctor Angelicus, perhaps because of his virtues, in particular the loftiness of his thought and purity of life", said Pope Benedict XVI.

Day 229

So if you didn't guess already by seeing this photo, today was not a good day. I went to the children's hospital for treatment, and when I arrived they told me that they could not treat me without a letter from the CEO of the hospital, since I'm eighteen now. I called them yesterday to confirm that treatment was today, and they said everything was fine.

So I walked out of the hospital and got on a bus going anywhere, because I wasn't really sure what I should do. I ended up back at the hospital two hours and three busses later, and found an empty room to sit down in. After a few more hours, I got a call from my new lung specialist at the general hospital asking me to go see him. I walked over there, and waited for an hour before he finally called me in and told me that because I am such a "rare case" he is not comfortable going through with the treatments. He wants to "see what happens" when I go without them. I already know what happens, because for years before I finally started them I was constantly in and out of hospitals, including the intensive care unit. I could barely ever go outside, and certainly couldn't ride a bike or do anything I should be able to do. I was constantly sick, and couldn't keep weight on. I weighed eighty pounds from the age of 13 to 15, and gained twenty pounds right away after staring these treatments.

I don't want to ever be that sick again, but now I may have to be so he can "see what happens." I explained what would happen and how my life was before, but he wouldn't budge.

I eventually got home, and took this photo and felt a lot better, somehow. I'm hoping I can still be treated at the children's hospital until I go for a second opinion.

So yeah, this isn't a fair portrait of that doctor, but this is how he appeared to me today - blindly making decisions without any regard for how it would affect my life at all.

**PHEW** Okay I am calm. I am CALM okay?! GAH. I'll post something optimistic tomorrow I promise xx

I went in a very funky direction with this one. Two textured backgrounds where one on is only on top of the cosplayer (the other is the background) and a fractal "flare" behind the cosplayer (using color theory's complimentary colors) to make him stand out against the purple background.

The heroic Captain Phoenix (part-time swoop racer and part-time bounty hunter) stalks the treacherous radioactive wastelands of Malagarr!

Working off intelligence received from the CFS vigilante network known as Nimbus Cell, Captain Phoenix has tracked down a scientist from the nefarious Techno Union.

“Curse you, Phoenix!” screeches the scientist, technologically. “Don’t you know what we could learn from this place? Entire planets turned into reactors! Think of the power, you fool!”

“This inhospitable trash heap has a lesson to share, you’re right about that,” replies the Captain, dashingly. “I’m just not sure it’s a lesson you’re willing to learn.”

“Ha! These fools made mistakes! We would do it better!” The scientist began cackling. Evil, computerized cackling!

Captain Phoenix clenched his jaw. “Your hubris blinds you, doctor!” He raised his ray blaster, set to ‘enjustify’. Time to end this mad scheme once and for all.

Just then, movement on the ridge! A cloud of red dust fades to reveal a new danger, a wrench in the cogs: a vicious reaver gang with weapons primed! The Techno Union scientist started to shuffle away in the chaos.

“Blast, Reavers! Watch out, scum! No one can stand in the way of justice!”

How will the dashing Captain Phoenix get out of this one? You’ll have to leave that one to your imagination, dear reader. This build isn’t getting a sequel!

Doctor Strange has a very special place in my heart. At the time of the film’s release, I was going through a very similar journey to Stephen Strange at the beginning of the film. Like Strange, I was broken, and throughout my physical healing I had time for self discovery as well. This movie is also very important because my review of the film was my first “published” review, whereas it was really just published in my school paper. But it was still the first time my film analysis got a bit more professional and I got real life feedback on it! I also submitted that review as apart of my application to Chapman University so like Ant-Man, Doctor Strange kinda helped me go to Chapman! So with all this being said, I was very excited to rewatch this film in my ‘Road to Infinity War’ watchathon because it’s been a while since I’ve seen this film, and since Doctor Strange is the character I’m probably looking forward to the most in Infinity War, I was thrilled to revisit in introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Let’s check it out!

Good: The hardest job that Doctor Strange had to accomplish in its two- hour runtime was to tell a character piece on the fall and rise of Stephen Strange while also introducing the audience to the world of magic and interdimensional travel in the multiverse in the Marvel Universe, which I think it pulled of with excellence. Like most MCU solo films, this movie goes hard on trying to make Doctor Strange a character we can all get behind in future films, and it works. Strange’s origin is a lot more emotional and “adult” than the heroes we’ve seen before. Strange is a bad person at the beginning of this film, and we watch him lose everything he has because of him. Now I’ll get into the similarities this film has to Iron Man later, but I will say now is I think the development of Strange in his origin is a lot better than Starks in the first Iron Man purley because of the performance of Benedict Cumberbatch. We see the gravitas that Cumberbatch puts into the character in the scene where he’s yelling at Rachel McAdams in the beginning, making this development of this asshole into a hero more believable. Now the biggest thing going for this movie is the visuals. There are scenes in this movie with special effects and cinematography that still blow my mind because before this movie was released, I never saw anything like them. The action is new and inventive for the MCU, and the magic is fresh and stands out on its own from other fantasy movies. I still can’t get over how awesome the third act of this film is, I love how the final fight is the exact reverse of this big blockbuster movies and the confrontation between Strange and Dormammu is absolutely genius. I remember from the marketing, Doctor Strange seemed like some sort of Inception rip-off, but I would say the visuals from Inception are just the tip of the iceberg of the trippy madness that happens in this movie. The scene in this film where Doctor Strange goes on that big “trip” still floors me with what was going on on-screen. The scene has elements of both Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey and M.C Escher's works of art, and is truly a spectacle to behold, even when it’s played on a small TV years later. Doctor Strange not only stands out with not only its visuals, but with its sound as well. The soundtrack was composed by Michael Giacchino, who is really good at going into franchise movies and recapturing the magic of another composer like he did with Jurassic World by capturing the iconic score John Williams created for Jurassic Park. This time around, Giacchino really makes a piece of his own for Doctor Strange with a blend of a classic orchestral score, Pink Floyd-like trippy 60s rock, and some baroque harpsichord, with south Asian influences. This array of musical styles creates a score from the MCU that like Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, and Black Panther, I find myself revisiting quite often!

Bad: I’d say the biggest flaw of Doctor Strange is that at its base, it’s a superhero origin we’ve seen before. This movie is a basic superhero origin story with elements of both Batman Begins and Iron Man where a brilliant yet arrogant man, Stephen Strange, falls through a tragedy, the loss of the use of his hands from a car accident, but then finds a way to heal both his body and spirit through some sort of fantastical device to redeem himself, which in this case is training in the mystical arts under The Ancient One. What also adds to this basic plot is yet another one-dimensional villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Caecilius. Mads Mikkelsen gives a good performance as Caecilius, making him stand out from other villains in this franchise like Malekith, but he never brings the sense of sympathy that we get from villains like Killmonger or Loki. The films also gives a basic love interest with Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer who gives a great performance and gets a good introduction in the beginning of the movie, but never really gets a good conclusion at the end. It feels like she sort of just disappears for no reason at all, which is disappointing due to her being the key character in experiencing Strange’s arrogance, but she never gets to see him redeem himself as a hero in the end.

Overall, it’s clear that Doctor Strange isn’t a perfect comicbook movie, but it’s still one of my favorites of the MCU. Despite its rather basic plot elements, the film succeeds with it’s unique visuals, sounds, and sentimental story arc of the main character. I was never excited for Doctor Strange before the film came out, it was probably my least anticipated MCU movie, but after watching the film, I immediately became a Doctor Strange fan. I probably would’ve enjoyed this film less if I saw it at another time, but this film just came out in a time in my life when I needed it most. This film helped me through a dark time in my life and I will never forget it because of that. For these reasons I’m going to give Doctor Strange a 9/10. Let me know what your thoughts on the film are in the comments below and look forward to my re-review of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 next week!

After being left stranded in space by his crew, Dr. J. Guericke had put together a robust suit of armor and a fearsome weapon, the “Black Hole”. Delta Team Leader Ean Smith was the last obstacle preventing him from getting his revenge.

During their confrontation, Guericke’s growing guilt quickly replaced his thirst for vengeance. As he was feeling remorseful for his villainous actions, Ean Smith took advantage of his change of heart and defeated him.

Even so, the brilliance of his Black Hole weapon couldn’t be ignored by Hero Factory. After spending a short sentence, Dr. J. Guericke was offered a job as a rookie hero and was tasked with designing new gadgets for his teammates.

Dr. J. Guericke’s genius had been finally recognized, and he would have the chance to prove himself on the field as a proud member of Proto Team, Hero Factory’s worst squad ever.
