More of those korus. Quite hard to photograph, hard to get the auto-focus to do the right thing.

Brigus has been diagnosed with lymphoma (Thursday September 7, 2023). We will meet with an oncologist on Monday September 18/23) to discuss medical options.

Today, we took her to Ferguson Forest Dog Park.

Good afternoon folks:

Due to signs of lethargy & a wet cough, Ross & I took Brigus to our vet on September 7/23. Hoping that she’d just caught a cold at the dog park, we received the devastating news that she probably had lymphoma. A biopsy confirmed our vet’s suspicion the following week. Our vet went through our options and left us to make one of life’s hardest decisions.

My first call was to a dear friend, who was our first vet at Carp Road Animal Hospital but is now retired. Because Marc has known us for 30 years and seen us through 3 dogs and 10 cats, we appreciate his sage advice and brutal honesty. Due to her age and, if remission is achieved, the high likelihood of recurrence, Ross & I had already determined that chemo would probably not be advantageous. Marc’s balanced advice supported our decision.

Yesterday, Brigus was examined by a veterinary oncologist who agreed with our decision. I am not sure if I had hoped that this vet would push back a bit and at least suggest chemo but instead, she was very sympathetic and told me that we are doing the right thing for Brigus. In order to keep her appetite going, Brigus is on a small daily dose of prednisone.

We are now spoiling her rotten until she tells us that it’s time for her to go. Because she is a people dog, she has loved each of you either at Furniture Bank or within our family circle. Please keep her in your thoughts.

Regards,

Toni
