This is the front of a funerary couch, or platform, that supported a coffin. Scholars suggest it was made for Cave 4 at northern Xiangtangshan; it was rare, however, for a Buddhist cave to serve as a burial place. The couch is also unusual for its combination of Persian and Chinese elements. In the center, the censer topped by a bird and flanked by heavenly beings is a typical Chinese Buddhist image. The musicians and dancers in the pearl-encircled roundels represent secular Central Asian entertainers depicted in a Persian style.
Begun shortly after 1424, finished 1483 with William Orchard's masterpiece of lierne ribs, bosses and paired dropped pendants in place

‘Lands don’t walk away.’ Gurudongmar, A divinity that holds time together. one of the highest lakes on earth elevating to 5,154m. A powerful essence born not of the lush or blue worlds, but the staggering threats of extreme lows and highs. Lands that has seen it all, the past, the stillness, fortune. Standing at eye, these giants follows a journey through time, a world so unknown was born there. A tale of their beginning. How desolate lands became the playground of Legendary artists giving rise to the most wondrous scapes on this paradise. As one is traversing silently through these utterly desolate landscape, an overwhelming hallucination can make one feel that oneself, as an individual human being, is slowly being unraveled. The surrounding space is so vast that it becomes increasingly difficult to keep a balanced grip on one's own being. The mind swells out to fill the entire landscape, becoming so diffuse in the process that one loses the ability to keep it fastened to the physical self. The sun would rise from the eastern horizon, and cut it's way across the empty sky, and sink below the western horizon. This was the only perceptible change in our surroundings. And in the movement of the sun, I felt something I hardly know how to name: some huge, cosmic love. A frozen lake like a freeze in time, would allow a thousand to crossover the land of dime. A night that layer turned so thin, a wicked traveller buried within. The following morning stone cold wind, covering up the depth above the skin. As spring arrived the truth unleased, nowhere to hide neither defend; may the winter never end. Destiny ‘lies’-through the golden roads. A path promised never seemed your. A moment in time that’ll always flow.

Kindly allowed access by a gentleman from Kirkleatham to photograph the chandelier and interior of the chapel. It is made from wood, encased gold and is in need of restoration work. The work of restoring the chandelier is beyond the means of the local almshouses trust and the plan is to auction this 1720's work of art at Christy's in the near future. The local council were given the opportunity to buy it instead but declined.
