Manifest traffic departs the yard in Fort Frances, Ontario and diverges off the CN Fort Frances Subdivision at Duluth Junction for a trip down the CN Rainy Subdivision. CN 2880 leads the charge with a few units along for the ride including two Dash 8s and an SD40-2 - looks like units heading to the Mesabi Iron Range in Minnesota. The train is seen here passing underneath Ontario Highway 11, the King's Highway, while moving onto the short peninsula at the headwaters of the Rainy River.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference..

“The Road Not Taken,” plays a unique role not simply in American literature, but in American culture —and in world culture as well. Its signature phrases have become so ubiquitous, so much a part of everything from coffee mugs to refrigerator magnets to graduation speeches, that it’s almost possible to forget the poem is actually a poem.

Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato contains a jewel-covered image of the Virgin, patron of Guanajuato. The wooden statue was supposedly hidden from the Moors in a cave in Spain for 800 years. Felipe II of Spain gave it to Guanajuato in thanks for the wealth it provided to the crown.

The grid was giving it full beans at this stage, having been signal checked for a preceding unit that had recently departed from Alsager, creating a fantastic soundtrack.

The last dregs of light just about held despite threatening cloud almost scuppering the shot to produce the final pic of a really rewarding day around the West Midlands.

Even more noteworthy is that 56078 has been stopped since 11 March (2025); whether it is likely to return to the mainline any time soon is unknown.

Currently being used as a storage building for Strathspey Steam Railway Volunteers.

Broomhill railway station or Broomhill for Nethy Bridge railway station is a reconstructed railway station on the former Highland Railway main line which was originally built to serve the small villages of Nethy Bridge and Dulnain Bridge in Strathspey. It is at present the eastern terminus of the Strathspey Steam Railway.

The railway station was opened by the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway (I&PJR) on its line to Forres in 1863, via Grantown-on-Spey (West), Dava, etc.

In 1923 the HR became part of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway and at nationalisation in 1948 became part of British Railways. The line was recommended for closure by Dr Beeching's report "The Reshaping of British Railways" and closed on 18 October 1965.

Following closure in 1965 the station was demolished leaving only the platform and the nearby stationmaster's house. On 31 May 2002 the Strathspey Railway (preserved) re-opened the old station following its reconstruction.

The Great North of Scotland Railway's (GNoSR) Broomhill Junction lay on the line towards Boat of Garten and at this point the original GNoSR Strathspey Railway diverged, crossing the River Spey to reach Nethy Bridge, Grantown-on-Spey, Aberlour, Cromdale, Craigellachie, etc. The Highland Railway (HR) line ran parallel from Boat of Garten station to avoid the cost of a signal box and famously the two lines had different coloured ballast.

With snow beginning to fall on a cold and dreary January evening, New York Susquehanna and Western train CL-X diverges onto the Syracuse branch at Chenango Forks on its return run from Cortland - Binghamton. The train is passes vintage searchlights here originally from the D&H.

What started out as a morning on the Southern Tier ended in a ~450 mile day with over 11 hours of driving. After completing our chase of eastbound NS train 264 in Corning, we decided to make our way to Sayre to see if the Lehigh Railway was out and about. While on the way, I got a heads up that the NYSW made the run south to Binghamton and was in the yard working. After a quick check of Sayre we made a beeline to Binghamton where we found a mess of NS traffic clogging up the area. The NYSW uses the NS (old D&H main) for about 1/4 of a mile out of Binghamton to get onto their own tracks, and this was blocked by 265. After about an hour and a half of waiting on NS to swap 265's power, the NYSW pulled over the "New Connection" and helped the crew of 265 arm their marker. They then made the run for home.

CSX E908 diverges at EM Cabin as it makes its way towards Martin with a train of company 3-bays in tow.

Granular poison frog (Oophaga granulifera) diverged into southern and northern lineages. The proportion of red is more prominent in the Osa Population, while the red, green and polymorphic populations are located in the Central Pacific. The poison produced by the poison dart frogs affects nerves and muscles, producing paralysis and respiratory failure. These colorful frogs hunt by day, feeding on termites and ants, and it has been suggested that their warning coloration evolved in response to their long feeding periods, when they would otherwise be vulnerable to predators. Their warning coloration is the response to the most basic problem in nature: to eat without being eaten. Toxic alkaloids in the skin secretions of these frogs provide them with powerful chemical weapons against potential predators. This distinctive flashing coloration is known as aposematic, or warning coloration.

Conway Scenic 255 and 252 lead the Notch Train through Intervale, NH on the home stretch back to North Conway. Mount Washington stands tall in the background with its peak barely obscured by clouds. Both 255 and 252 are Maine Central GP38s and are leading on home rails for the next half mile until it diverges onto B&M rails for the last leg to North Conway.

GWR Prairie 5541 catches the last light of the day at Tufts Junction in the Forest of Dean. Thanks to Mike Tyack and a very enthusiastic crew for a superb day.

(The Junction is where the Mineral loop and branch to Parkhill Colliery branched off from the main Severn and Wye line from Lydney to Lydbrook and Cinderford. The single line diverged into three. All three lines were closed between the 1950s and 1970s.

The main line through the junction has been restored by the Dean Forest Railway which runs between Lydney Junction and Parkend) Wikaipedia

The Fontanka Embankment is a street in Saint Petersburg that follows the course of the Fontanka River from its origin as it diverges from the Neva River up to its confluence with the Great Neva. In 1762-1769 the general plan of city development was developed by the State Special Committee, headed by Aleksei Kvasov. Following this plan, in the 1780s the shores were imbanked in granite by architect Giacomo Quarenghi. The Fontanka Embankment was used as a border of Saint Petersburg central part.

Nowadays the embankment serves as a motorway, it was reconstructed in the early 1990s, then in 2016-2019. It has a status of cultural heritage object. Total length of the left side embankment is 6.4 km, right - 5.7 km. Numerous palaces and historical sites are located on this street.
