Giving Solar Lanterns as a prize to the best performing students is not a new initiative of Pervaiz Lodhie. In previous years Lodhie Foundation has extended his initiative to various schools in Sindh and Punjab.
Inspiring with the idea, Mr. Jonathan Mitchell PHD President and Founder of Concentric development Inc. invited Pervaiz Lodhie to extend his program of distributing solar lanterns as prizes in PEP schools. Pervaiz Lodhie has immediately offered to gift 249 lanterns, allowing for three prizes per school. His suggestion was to distribute them to 1)Top student of the year 2) Top most improved student of the year 3) Top best attendance student of the year.
Mr. Lodhie also suggested encouraging the prize recipients to teach a short literacy course to family members or relatives.
During his recent visit to Pakistan in March 2016, Pervaiz visited the two schools in Mirpurkas and Tando Allahyar and distributed the solar lanterns to the 7 best students. Remaining 242 lanterns will be distributed in first and second week of April 2016

Widely distributed in Africa South of 15° North except for the dry South-West and in lowland forests.
A common bird of woodland bush and gardens the male Paradise flycatcher comes in two distinct forms. The white morph and a rufous morph. The female always retains the rufous colouring. Males may change colour from the rufous to the white and may sometimes be seen part way through the change with a mixture of white and rufous feathers. The dark head and blue eye are common to both forms. (from www.kenyabirds.org.uk/ )
Family kinglets. Widely distributed throughout Britain & Ireland, this tiny songbird vies with the closely-related Firecrest for the title of our smallest breeding bird.
Being so small (5-6 g), Goldcrests are vulnerable in cold weather, and as such numbers fluctuate depending on the harshness of the seasons. In winter, the resident Goldcrest population is bolstered by arrivals from Fennoscandia, and impressive numbers can sometimes be found on the east coast in the autumn, recovering in the dunes after their long flight across the North Sea.
Despite their small size, female Goldcrests can lay up to 12 eggs in a clutch (one and a half times an adult's bodyweight). Goldcrests have an overall olive appearance, with their eponymous stripe on the top of their heads, which is more orange in males and yellow in females. Goldcrests can often be seen searching trees, especially conifers, for small invertebrate prey. Their high-pitched, repetitive song can also be a good way to find one. Information from BTO webpage.

The Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation is widely distributed in many western American states. The unit consists of fluvial (river/floodplain) and lacustrine (lake) deposits. Dinosaur bones and dinosaur tracks are moderately common in Morrison Formation sediments. Exceptionally dinosaur-rich localities include Como Bluff in Wyoming, Dinosaur National Monument in Utah, Dinosaur Ridge in Colorado, and the Cleveland-Lloyd Quarry in Utah.
The picture shows tectonically tilted beds of the Morrison Formation in Dinosaur National Monument, Utah. The layers are steeply dipping to the right.

Distributed Power Units bring up the rear of a westbound container train at Red Rock, Arizona on 02MAR13.
These pictures are from a recent humanitarian mission organized in NY and NJ. Local activists worked in collaboration with the Palestine Children's relief fund (www.pcrf.net) and friends of UNRWA (www.friendsunrwa.org) to collect brand new clothing, medical supplies (wheelchairs, walkers etc.), and baby formula for Palestinian refugees in the Gaza refugee camp. The items, which filled a 40-foot shipping container, were distributed amongst 700 families in the Gaza refugee camp by UNRWA and an UNRWA-affiliated NGO. A second container was recently sent and we are currently recruiting volunteers for a third. Contact us for more information on how you can help.
Info: The Gaza refugee camp in Jerash, Jordan is home to 21,000-34,000 Palestinian refugees who fled from Gaza, Palestine in 1948 and 1967. Unlike Palestinian refugees from other districts of Palestine, the Palestinians in the Gaza refugee camp are considered persona non grata in Jordan (i.e. they are denied an identity, not granted identification papers and, therefore, denied the right to work and travel freely throughout the country). Most Jordanians and Palestinians living in the capital of Amman remain unaware of the Palestinians in the Gaza refugee camp prompting many experts to describe these refugees as the "Forgotten Ones". The videos above provide a lucid glimpse into the living conditions many of these refugees have had to contend with given the lack of political, social, and economic options at their disposal. Please keep them in your prayers and feel free to contact us on how you can help.
