I call these sort of holes in trees 'fairy doors', there are a couple on a mound in the wood. I find anything with a naturally occurring hole to be a bit special, like hagstones.
Taken using Slow Shutter on The Interlslander ferry coming into Wellington harbour, this gentlemen quickly took a few snaps out the window, then apologied to everyone for taking up the view for a few seconds.

A man in a beret on a bike... couldn't get more French than that! This shot is taken on Royal Street but no matter where I walked, this by-gone era feeling was everywhere.
*Experimental Portrait; playing with lighting and phone apps.
BEHIND THE SCENES:
I never planned for this image to be ultra creepy, it just kind of happened. With no preconceived notions all I did is lean back and slowly turn my head upward. Luckily I had the lighting just perfect, and with a black background and the addition of filters in post, the spooky tone became a happy accident. And being a horror geek I wasn't complaining! It reminds me of the creepy theme song from the television show, American Horror. I'm not sure why but for some reason it's all I hear when I look at this photo.
I titled this 'Dark Side' because it immediately made me think of our humanity. That there's no escaping human nature. I like to think of myself as a good person yet I still feel jealously, anger, hatred, resentment, etc. Does this mean I'm bad? The ugliness resides in all of us I think, it's just up to us how much we allow it to dominate our lives.
SET-UP / PROCESS:
I used one continuous soft light, a black back-drop, and stood a large suitcase on its end to prop my iPhone in the handle bracket. Kneeling down, I used a timer (Slow Shutter Cam) to give myself 5-seconds to get into position, dragging the shutter for 8-seconds.
In post processing I used a grungy DistressedFX filter and the Glaze App to soften and blur the edges. Took just minutes to edit on my iPhone.
APPS USED:
Slow Shutter Cam, DistressedFX, Glaze
I'm a "Sicko Sally" this week. Bleah.
Hope all of you are enjoying a wonderful (and healthy) weekend!
