Longhorn Cavern State Park is located in Burnet County, Texas. Between 280 and 300 million years ago, mountain-building forces shifted in an event called the Llano Uplift, which formed faults and fractures in the limestone. Water flowed through the cracks, dissolving limestone and forming Longhorn Cavern. From 1934 to 1942, the depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps explored the cavern and made it accessible by removing tons of silt, debris, and guano and by building stairs and walkways both into and inside the cavern. It was dedicated as a state park in 1932 and in 1938 was opened to the public. In 1971, the cavern was dedicated as a National Natural Landmark. Before the cave became a tourist attraction, it was used over the years by Native Americans, Confederate soldiers (who made gun powder from the guano deposits) and outlaws. Cavern temperatures range up to 68F (20C) year-round. The 90-minute tour covers 1.1 miles underground at depths of 40 to 140 feet (12 to 43m).

Lost in the fields of imagination,
drifting amid ideas in eternal movement
in an ever-expanding universe...
But in the end
everything is nothing but illusion...
now the whole hole-story ...
you can guess it, it's a Tadao Ando and here you can see the opposite direction to Hilde's photo we uploaded a few days ago ...
Ando does what he often does, he combines water with concrete and glass, and combines building parts in a special angle to each other and combines a closed building part with an open building part, which at first still one-sided with roof dissolves later in a wall and roofless row of columns (you will see it later) ...
but the hinge from the closed to the open part of the building, which intersects with the main path, is decisive.
Here he makes a round recess in the roof. which marks the entrance and creates funny light and shadow games all day long ... the circle wanders and gets with the walls and the different substrates, like materials always new aspects ... so simple and easy ... so good ...

// A lone small tree smiles at the plentiful space given by the rising tide.
To be here is to dissolve back into that which you came.
Journey within
Shattering of the veil of illusion
which is merely the basis of your own perception
This journey is not for the faint hearted
With this journey comes the shattering of belief systems
Surrendering to what is
as opposed to how you want things to be
Honour the Goddess within
Allow for her to emerge
Wiser
Stronger
More loving
Sometimes we have to break into tiny pieces to awaken - in other words die to the ego
Feels like something
That I've done before
I could fake it
But I still want more.

These statues are part of an art exhibition in Budapest.
The New World Design for Contemporary Art presents almost 600sqm of the world of the Great War, which can be seen as the epoch that radically changed the world order of the time: the formerly stable empires have dissolved, culture and public thought have changed dramatically. World War II buried the old world, the result of a new world conflagration and then the Cold War. Europe was bleak in the twilight that the 20th century was dominated by America and Russia.
The exhibition takes visitors from happy peace to enthusiasm for war and bitter disappointment. It shows how the civilization of civilized and global warfare was fought, how the 19th century came to a standstill and the hinterland became the battlefield. The nature of war has changed: victory has now become a function of the amount of war material.

Gloucester Cathedral, or the Cathedral Church of St Peter and the Holy and Undivided Trinity, in Gloucester, England, stands in the north of the city near the river. It originated with the foundation of an abbey dedicated to Saint Peter in 678 or 679 (dissolved by King Henry VIII of England).
Coming to an end of this series...:-)) (almost!!), just remember, as I've mentioned before: I spent more than 4 hours in that fascinating cathedral; think I made about 500-600 pictures....

Making donuts at home can be a delightful experience! Here's a basic recipe for classic fried donuts:
Essential Ingredients:
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110°F / 45°C)
3/4 cup lukewarm milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for rolling)
Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
For Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Let it sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
Make the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, lukewarm milk, sugar, salt, butter, and egg. Gradually add the flour and mix until a dough forms.
Knead: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Cut out donuts: Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a donut cutter or two different-sized round cutters to cut out donuts and holes. Place them on a floured surface and let them rise again until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Fry: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Fry donuts in batches, turning them once, until golden brown (1-2 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels.
Glaze: Mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Dip the warm donuts into the glaze and let them cool on a wire rack.
Enjoy your homemade donuts! 🍩

"Where The Heart Is"
High above the tallest trees
Courage will come your way
It's the need that burns the trust that shines
When you climb out of the shade
Your high awakes the things you wanna be
Where the air is thin and sweeps you off your feet
Where the heart is
When the light's at your side
When the faith is ready
No more guidance
Take the leap of your life
As the ground is shaking
Shaking off your troubled soul
As silence seems to grow
It's the faith in sight, the doubt that fades
As the world dissolves below
Your high awakes the things you wanna be
Where the air is thin and sweeps you off your feet
Where the heart is
When the light's at your side
When the faith is ready
No more guidance
Take the leap of your life
As the ground is shaking
You are falling to the stars, you are falling
You are falling to the stars, you are falling
You are falling to the stars, you are falling
You are falling to the stars, you are falling
Where the heart is
When the light's at your side
When the faith is ready
No more guidance
Take the leap of your life
As the ground is shaking
💖 In advance I want to thank each one of you for your always kindness, support, beautiful awards, favs, and messages. Please know that I see and read them all, even if I do not reply back to them, I appreciate them all so much as well as each on of you for taking the time.
💖 You all mean a lot to me, Flickr would not be the same without you, I can not thank each one of you enough for your constant encouraging and uplifting support that you all give me. I am immensely grateful.
At the moment I am working on doing pictures and putting together an exhibition that I have been so honored to be invited to do later this month. So If I am absent more or less, it is because I am working that project.
💕💖💕 Time has flown by so quickly, I had my first week back at work this week, after having a 3 week long well deserved vacation, it was hard going back to daily routine. I did however have a nice time in my vacation and have enjoyed both traveling abroad with friends, as well as greatly enjoyed nature and being outside in nature close by where I live. I feel fortunate to have nature that close to me..
It only takes a 2 minutes walk from home and I am in the middle of the forest as well as having the opportunity to do a hike or walk up the mountains. It sounds like I am living in the country side, but I can assure you that I am not. I am very close to the city. So from the backside of my house I have nature in all its glory, and from the front-side, I am overlooking the city and the sea.
Oh well, enough about me. I wish you all a wonderful Sunday and upcoming week, and as always I wish each one of you the best and my regards goes out to each one of you.
Take good care of your self as well as one another, be kind as well as thoughtful towards others. We never know what others have been trough or is going trough, so please always remember that. 💕💖💕
💖 Huge, huge hugs, light, peace and love to you all 💖.
Best regards
Lori 💖
The Magpie Inkcaps (Coprinopsis picacea) parading in Silk Wood.
As science of taxonomy developed over last couple centuries, its scientific name has changed from Agaricus (at the beginning almost every fungus with a cap has been place in this genus) to Coprinus (to which many inkcap fungi belongs) and lately to Coprinopsis (meaning resembling Coprinus). However, the specific epithet ‘picacea’ (derived from the Latin name of Eurasian Magpie ‘Pica pica’) was always attached, and reflected in the common name of this spectacular fungus.
The life of inkcap is short. Its gills absorb moisture from the air and the cap dissolving in black liquid to aid spore propagation, the process called deliquescence. Hence the common name for this group, inkcaps, Inky-caps or Ink Caps. There were couple specimens nearby which in an advance stage deliquescence. This species is poisonous, and in young age could be confused with the Shaggy Inkcap (Coprinus comatus) (pictured here www.flickr.com/photos/sergeysmirnov/50548843027) which is edible when young.
The Magpie Inkcaps are solitary and not frequently grow together in large numbers, so it was a delight to see this group. The Magpie Inkcaps are solitary and not frequently grow together in large numbers, so it was a delight to see this group. And the title is inspired by the children’s nursery rhyme about magpies. Thank you for your visit, favours and comments, much appreciated.
I quite like the green colours surrounding the grebe in this photo, but , at the same time it is a reminder that many of our once pristine lakes are changing for the worse. Although a lot of the green here is reflection from a oak woodland behind, unfortunately some of it is the water itself. Algae and duckweed can be seen and is a clear indicator of enrichment -“Eutrophication” where the nutrients accumulate in a body of water. This results in an increase of microorganisms causing algal blooms and bacterial growth and depletion of dissolved oxygen etc. with
environmental degradation.
Fertiliser runoff from farming and sewage pollution are the main causes. This change in the water body will affect the whole food chain and this Grebe sits very near the top of this food chain. So , yes I quite like the the effect in this photo but at the same time it is, as I said, for me, a reminder.
Thank you for having a look at my photos. Comments or faves are very welcome and much appreciated.

I photographed the Torre Velasca from the roof of the Duomo di Milano on a grey morning, with soft light filtering through the overcast sky. The image isolates the tower in color against a black-and-white cityscape, emphasizing its cantilevered top and angled supports. From this elevated vantage point, the contrast between postwar modernism and Milan’s historic architecture becomes even more pronounced.
I captured this scene from an overpass near Bologna Centrale station, across from the signal house with its steel framework spanning the tracks. In the center of the structure a large clock was mounted, clearly visible above the converging rails and electrical lines.
The design of the signal house itself stood out to me, its elevated form and intricate framework contrasting with the dense infrastructure of tracks, wiring, and surrounding urban buildings.
i was one atom my life complete
then the oven went on and i became a layered treat
now i am many atoms broken and bent
from times well spent and times well rent
we look at each other and shake our heads
knowing full well that we have made our own beds
some of us laugh and some of us cry
and we all know why.
soon enough now our atoms will dust
or rust or bust so lets not let them turn to hot ash
instead lets make them food for the angels and song for the last.
Mt. Tamalpais enveloped by fog
The fog over the bay was pretty amazing here. Everything north of San Rafael was basically invisible. San Francisco is under there somewhere.
The drive up Mt. Tamalpais makes for some very interesting shots for someone willing to deal with the drive. I wish it was possible to take sunrise photos here, but unfortunately the road opens at 7 in the morning.
This particular shot was a multi-part panorama from about 4 RAW files.
