Just as my toe sunk into the hot water
(of my readied and waiting bathtub)
it began to snow.
The first snow of the season is always the best.
The Autumn is already nostalgic.
The winter feeling is here.
The inside thoughts are becoming outside thoughts.
Sipping on sake, imagining the sounds of mountains.
Imagination is a drifting light that melts on your fingertips.
Until weeks of the stuff, then it sticks forever.
You carry it with you from home to home like a virus.
It is always with you.
There are only 49 days left of this year.
What will you make of it?
What will you make of yourself?

Freshly fallen snow on a cold and overcast day in the ancient Laurentian mountains, Quebec.
The yellow- brown (tea) colour of the river water is caused by sand (sediments) and dissolved/suspended organic matter washed downstream and deposited on top of melting ice immediately below a fast flowing rapid (the clearer water of this rapid can just be seen in the photo at centre right).
It should also be noted that the river water at this location always exhibits a light tea colouration due to the presence of dissolved tannins, substances that naturally leach out of organic matter such as peat, leaves, bark, roots etc. [for more information see:

Okay, please bear with me. I'm still playing with ICMs and find myself experimenting with the macro lens and flowers.
I'm really intrigued by the different effects one can get with varying shutter speeds and movements. I find it fascinating that a simple photograph can look so much like a painting - perhaps a watercolour rather than the usual impressionist image that ICM often produces. Or maybe it just looks like a mess!
Either way, I quite like it and I hope you do too.
02-september-2021: the (meteorologically) early fall sun quickly dissolves the nocturnal filmy fogs and leaves full view of this largely flat basin located at 717m of altitude above sea level.
The conformation of this area favors massive night-time thermal inversions with clear skies and calm winds.
Under these weather conditions, the lowest night temperatures in all of Slovenia are often found here or in nearby Babno Polje basin, and this applies throughout the calendar year.
Last spring, in the contiguous town of Nova Vas-Bloke (719m a.s.l., ARSO official weather station), on 7 April 2021 at down, there were 21°C below zero, the lowest value ever recorded in all of Slovenia for the month of April, in 70 years of measurements.
On that occasion the basin was covered with fresh snow and hoar frost/hard rime with albedo close to 1 or total reflectance.
Minimum temperatures close to 0°C are possible, although rare, even in the heart of summer, while in winter it, relatively often, dropped to around -30°C.

Woman's arms wrapped around a man's neck are a lifebuoy!!!

Red-spotted Purple butterfly displaying its underwing coloration as it sips dissolved minerals. Some consider the RSP to be the most beautiful BF in the area.
Common for the season. Seemingly more abundant, this year.

Gråbrødretorv (Greyfriars Square) takes its name from a Franciscan friary, which was established at the site in 1238. The friary consisted at its height of a church, a refectory, a great hall which was used on many occasions for important state meetings and meetings of the provincial which governed Franciscan monasteries in Denmark. The friary was dissolved in 1530 but the church tower was a visible part of the city skyline as late as 1596. The huge cellars of the friary became the town jail and eventually the church itself was converted to a prison. In 1621 Christian IV added an orphanage and recommissioned the church as a house of worship, though it was called the "Prison Church".

The Klosterfilz near Sankt Oswald is one of the larger bogs located in the Bavarian Forest. The Klosterfilz is a conservation area.
A bog is a wetland that accumulates peat, a deposit of dead plant material—often mosses, and in a majority of cases, sphagnum moss. It is one of the four main types of wetlands. Bogs occur where the water at the ground surface is acidic and low in nutrients. In some cases, the water is derived entirely from precipitation. Water flowing out of bogs has a characteristic brown color, which comes from dissolved peat tannins. In general, the low fertility and cool climate results in relatively slow plant growth, but decay is even slower owing to the saturated soil.
