Just my luck, as I was about to take a picture of the entrance, someone was walking towards the door so I had to take this picture of this really nice display... -_-

Can you figure out what it is? This is a picture of a store display set up along the street.
This is from a raw file; not much color, but I think it helped me to retain highlight and shadow detail. I had originally thought of making the image a bit lighter to make it a bit less realistic, but this is how it came out. If you have an LCD display, you may find the brightness varies depending on the vertical angle at which you view the screen. Try moving your head up and down, it will probably become lighter and darker. This, plus the fact that displays vary greatly in their settings, makes it tricky to edit photos.
When I went by the store the next day I showed the original picture, on the camera's display, to the two men at the store. They were puzzled at first, even though the object happened to be in front of the camera at that point.
It's fun taking interesting shapes and patterns out of context for photos. I once took a picture of some new stacked white propane tanks with a wide angle lens. The newspaper editor refused to run it, saying it was obscene! I had to ask him for an explanation, which related to a posterior part of the anatomy. This had never occurred to me; to me it was just an interesting pattern. He did run the picture eventually, cropped a bit; newspapers get desperate for filler sooner or later.
Oh, these are folding vegetable steamers, stacked up.
