2016 Classic Belle has been completely deboxed. She is standing, supported by a Kaiser stand, and is holding Chip in her left hand.

Detailed photos of the 2016 Classic Belle 12'' doll. I love her face, and her widow's peak. But her hair is parted into two sections for packaging. After deboxing it is hard to join the sections neatly, especially since the bottom curls are very stiff from hair product. Her glittering yellow ball gown is very beautiful and move accurate from the front, and has a nice round shape when deboxed. But the gathering and satin ribbon decoration are not continued in the back. Unfortunately, this is usual for the gowns on non-LE Belle dolls. Chip is very light, and can be balanced nicely on her gloved hand. But I find his face a bit creepy, rather than cute. Belle has yellow flats once again. Even though she wears flats in the movie, I would rather that the doll wore heels.

Here are some detailed photos of the March set of Mickey Mouse Memories limited release plush, mug and pin set. They were on display at my local Disney Store. They will be released in stores and online in the US next week, on Saturday, March 17, 2018. I also place my January Mickey Mouse Memories plush next to the March plush, to compare their sizes. The March plush has a head about the same size, but his torso is smaller, and he is slightly shorter. He is made from a shiny vinyl like material in his shorts, shoes and nose, and a canvas like material in his upper body, including his head. I'm still undecided on whether I will get him, as his multi-colored pattern is a little too garish for my taste, and he is smaller than the January one.

Detailed photos of the Olaf's Frozen Adventure Anna Limited Edition Doll. I got her from my local Disney Store on release day, Tuesday December 12, 2017, along with Elsa. I was the only one waiting for the dolls before the store opened. She is #1234 of 7000, which I think is a really cool number.

I like her a lot more than I thought I would from the stock and leaked photos. I don't think she looks goofy, even with her smirk. But I do think that her in box pose is very awkward. The nicest thing I've discovered about the doll is that she has lavender tights, which compares nicely with the green tights of FF Anna.

I show her in box, and with all the covers removed. I will debox her later. I show her next to my deboxed Frozen Fever Anna doll, who I think is closest to her in design among the Anna LE dolls.

Gaston 12'' doll, free standing. He has what I presume is simulated stubble on his chin, but it looks more like dirt to me. LOL. His head turns with a little difficulty, because his ponytail is stuck behind his shirt. The ponytail can't go outside his shirt because of the thickness of the collar. His belt is sewn to his shirt. He has black knit tights instead of pants.

I like this set way better than the ones for Aladdin or Sleeping Beauty.

In these photos, the Tollytots doll is on the left, and the Disney Store doll is on the right. The first photo has them boxed. The succeeding photos have them deboxed and standing side by side, supported by doll stands (not included with the dolls).

My review will breakdown the differences in the dolls in various physical categories.

Packaging:

They are both in plastic and cardboard packages that display the dolls well. They are fairly sturdy, but are not especially reusable. They don't have a built in doll stand, so don't have a way to keep the dolls upright if they are to be put back in the box after being removed. The Disney Store box has a cleaner look, with clear plastic on all sides except the back and the bottom. It is also easier to get the doll out of the box, and the box is fairly easy to put back together to be reused. The Tollytots doll is in a box within a box, and has a lot of tape attaching the plastic window to the inner cardboard backing. It is trickier getting the doll out of the package, and also harder to put the box back together if it is to be reused after deboxing the doll.

Face:The Disney Store doll has much more movie accurate facial features than the Tollytots doll. She has smaller, narrower, side-glancing brown eyes, darker eyebrows, fewer upper and lower eyelashes, sharper features, paler skin, smaller mouth with paler red lips. She looks more like a real person (Rachel Weisz), whereas the Tollytots doll looks like a generic doll.

Hair:The Tollytots doll's hair is more movie accurate, being shoulder length reddish brown hair, mixed with black hair, with a widow's peak. Her hair is stiff with hair product, so I've been afraid to fix up the hair in the back to make it more even.

The Disney Store doll is jet black, with a large curly bang, with some longer hair tied into a bun of sorts in the back. There may be scenes where she wears this alternate hairdo, but I haven't noticed it yet in trailers for the movie. Her hair is considerably softer than the Tollytots doll, except for the curly bang in front.

Outfits:

The Tollytots dress is closer to the dress of Evanora in the main promo images. It is a green satin form fitting one piece dress, with a flaired lower skirt, and a glittering black mesh overlay. There is gold trim at the neckline, the full length sleeves are black mesh with gold trim, and there are green glittering decorations at the shoulders representing feathers. There is a slit on the left side of the skirt, so her lower legs can be exposed.

The Disney Store dress looks like the alternative solid green dress in some scenes of the trailers, although it should be a darker green. It is in two layers, the upper one a flowing bright green strapless dress with covered in green glitter, with clear rhinestones interspersed. The back of the dress is oversized, to become a circular tail that drapes over the ground. It has black mesh trim at the neckline, black lace sleeves, and feathery black decoration in the upper back. The skirt opens up in the front to reveal a solid dark green satin slip underneath, which also opens up in front to reveal her lower legs. It is much more impressive than the Tollytots outfit.

Both dolls are missing the shear cape that the movie character wears.

Shoes:The Tollytots doll wears knee high black high heeled boots, with simulated laces in front.

The Disney Store doll's boots are less movie accurate, as they are missing the laces in front.

Body:The Tollytots doll is 11 3/4 inches high, a quarter inch taller than the Disney Store doll. Her skin is a darker flesh tone than the Disney Store doll, and is less movie accurate. She has a thicker, longer, more tapered neck than the Disney doll. She has longer more realistic looking fingers. The Tollytots doll has solid plastic legs, whereas the DS doll has flexible rubber legs. Without undressing the dolls, I can't compare the other features of their bodies.

Articulation:The Tollytots doll has jointed neck, shoulders, elbows and hips. Her ball jointed neck has about the same amount of freedom as the DS doll, but is looser. Same goes for her shoulders. Her elbows have considerably less freedom of movement than the DS doll, but has about the same stiffness. Because of the tight fit of their skirts, I couldn't find the range of movement of either dolls' legs.

However, the Disney Doll has considerably more articulation than the Tollytots doll. She has neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip and knee joints. The knee joints are internal click stop hinge joints in her rubber legs.

Accessories:The Tollytots doll has a gold tiara and similated black and green feather headdress. She is wearing a gold necklace with solid green jewel, which looks more like jade than emerald.

The Disney doll has much more movie accurate accessories. The gold tiara is a bright gold color, and looks metallic even though it is plastic. Atop the tiara are black and green feathery plumes, which are made of separate fibers rather than glittery mesh. They are easily shaped using your fingers, and look very pretty and glamorous. The necklace is made of black beads, with a transparent green jewel pendant, representing her magical emerald amulet.

Summary:The Tollytots doll is pretty, but is much less movie accurate, and has much less detailed and impressive outfit and accessories. She is also less articulated, so is less posable than the Disney doll. Overall, the Disney doll looks like a true collector's doll, whereas the Tollytots doll is more of a play doll, which is also indicated by their relative prices.

My 2015 Limited Edition Aladdin 18 Inch Doll has been fully deboxed. He is free standing, with his sword in his right hand. I have left out the Abu figure from these photos.

I got LE Aladdin in person from the Disney Store on the release day (October 13, 2015) for the Aladdin Diamond Edition DVD and Limited Edition Jasmine, Aladdin and Jafar dolls. He is 18 inches tall, and is numbered 2094 of 3500. He has the same construction as the male LE dolls starting from the 2013 Prince Eric doll, with ball jointed elbows, wrists and ankles. He is in his street rat outfit, with a sword and Abu as accessories. He is barefoot and stands flat footed in the box.

Belle looks dainty in her pink dress without the cape and hood. I also left out the bluebird in these poses.

I received my Disney Designer Collection Premiere Series Snow White Limited Edition Doll today. I had ordered her online at the release day, shortly after 12 AM in the morning of Saturday October 6, 2018. She is #1301 of 4100. She came in a shipper box that is approximately the same size as the LE 17 inch doll shippers. It original shipping label said GIRLS TOYS LE PR DSGN SNOW DOLL F18, and CART #: 01298. There was a small piece of masking tape stuck to the side of the box with the actual edition number (matching the CoA): 1301. Inside there was another corrugated cardboard box snugly fitting in the outer shipping box. Inside that was the actual doll box, which was covered with tissue paper, and fit snugly in the inner shipping box, with cardboard caps on the top and bottom of the doll box. The shipper box was undamaged in transit, as was the inner box and the doll box itself.

The doll box has folding panels in the front with magnetic closure, with a large design sketch of Snow White and the year 1937 in large numerals. In the background are photographers in silhouette snapping photos, and a red carpet. The back of the box has angled corners, making for a hexagonal shaped box. The sides and back of the box also has images of Snow White. The top of the box has a clear window with the title of the collection in gold lettering. Inside the front covers are replicas of the movie poster, invitation and tickets to the premiere of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles, on December 21, 1937. The doll is behind a rectangular viewing window extending almost the full width and height of the box.

The inner box containing the doll and front viewing window can be slid out from the outer box. It is entirely enclosed, so can be displayed as is, without having to deal with the front covers either covering up the doll, or taking up space in front or to the sides of the inner box. The doll is on top a red carpet that has steps in front, and is flocked cardboard.

The doll herself is by far my favorite of the current Designer Premiere Series. I'm slightly biased because Snow White is my favorite Disney Princess, and am so happy that she turned out so well. I think her gown and accessories are very beautifully designed and produced. It also is very fitting for Snow White, and would be something she would wear to the premiere of her own movie.

Then the large plastic support is removed from her head and back, and remaining factory restraints removed from the doll's outfit. Then the doll is removed from the stage by freeing the display stand.

I just received the Disney Designer Collection Premiere Series merchandise that I ordered online when they were released last Monday, September 17, 2018. They are the notecard set, the limited edition ornament set, and the limited edition pin sets. All of these items sold out on the release day. The notecards and possibly the ornament set will be available in stores later this month.

The notecard set contains 24 cards, 4 for each of the 6 Princesses represented with the artwork for the Designer doll, and 26 color coded envelopes. It doesn't have the stickers that previous notecard set had, but it has a velvet ribbon that wraps around the set to secure the lid to the box. The cards are 6'' H x 4'' W, and are blank inside. I like the all of the artwork, which wraps around to the backside of the cards. It's price is $16.95.

Added detailed photos of Snow White. The glitter covered cape is a bit stiff, but I do like the glitter skirt, since it keeps its shape better than a plain satin skirt. It is similar to the skirt of the 2014 Classic Snow White and the 2013 Singing Snow White 12'' dolls. However, the gold glitter from the skirt does shed, and found its way on her rubber legs, even though she had tissue paper wrapped around them. The best new feature of this Snow White doll is the blue bird figurine. It's claws can grasp the doll's index finger or thumb very securely. It is reminiscent of the blue bird that comes with the LE Snow White 17'' doll, but is much less accurate and realistic, as it is entirely blue except for his eyes and beak. My doll came with hair that was a bit messy and lopsided, but she still looks very pretty. I will post side by side comparisons with previous Classic Snow White dolls soon.

Alice is fully deboxed. She is standing, supported by a modified Kaiser stand. She can free stand, but is not very stable that way.

Alice is 10 inches tall, with a head and body made specially for her. She has a body construction similar to that of the older Disney Designer Princess dolls, but without the swivel waist. She has rubber legs with click stop internal knee joints, fixed ankles. She has fully articulated arms and a ball jointed neck. Some of her arm joints are a little too loose and sometimes didn't keep a pose. She has a blue satin dress with a printed darker blue floral pattern. She has a separate white satin apron with a large white bow in the back. There is a colorful embroidered floral pattern in the front that is embellished with yellow gems, and it has a lace hem. She has a delicate tulle petticoat with a lace hem. She is wearing white tights, and black shoes with low heels and a strap around the ankles. She has a lovely face with big blue eyes, curvy eyelashes and a closed mouth smile with red lips. She has golden blonde hair, with the curly parts stiff with hair product. Wrapped around her head is her signature black satin ribbon and bow.

I bought the Alice and Queen of Hearts Doll Set at my local Disney Store on release day, October 4, 2016. It is numbered 0989 of 6000. I was called fifth out of ten persons who entered the raffle for 18 doll sets. They called names to determine the order in which we would go to the registers. The Designer doll display was moved from the floor to behind the counter. They still had Cinderella and Lady Tremaine doll sets available. I inspected the first set that was handed to me. Alice had slightly irregular eyelashes, but not enough to bother me. I didn't notice any other defects, so I took the set. I didn't bring my camera, so I didn't take any photos in the store.

I think Alice is a very beautiful doll, and I'm glad Disney finally made a Designer Alice. The most surprising thing I noticed about Alice are her shoes, which are very realistic looking. I like the Designer Queen of Hearts' crown, but it is nowhere as realistic looking as the crown on the LE 17'' Queen of Hearts.

Deboxing Classic Belle. The front clear plastic cover has been removed. Belle and Chip are still attached to the cardboard backing, but are now in clear view.

Detailed photos of the 2016 Classic Belle 12'' doll. I love her face, and her widow's peak. But her hair is parted into two sections for packaging. After deboxing it is hard to join the sections neatly, especially since the bottom curls are very stiff from hair product. Her glittering yellow ball gown is very beautiful and move accurate from the front, and has a nice round shape when deboxed. But the gathering and satin ribbon decoration are not continued in the back. Unfortunately, this is usual for the gowns on non-LE Belle dolls. Chip is very light, and can be balanced nicely on her gloved hand. But I find his face a bit creepy, rather than cute. Belle has yellow flats once again. Even though she wears flats in the movie, I would rather that the doll wore heels.

First Look

I just received today, October 17, 2012, the full set of all six dolls of the Disney Villains Collection Doll Set, that I pre-ordered on August 20, 2012. All the dolls arrived in perfect condition. They are all numbered #278 of 13,000. I photograph all the dolls in their cases, in group shots. They intend to leave these dolls as they are, untouched. I am not even going to open up the cases to fix stray hairs. I have bought "spares" of each of the dolls, to be completely deboxed. I pose these dolls with the pre-ordered boxed dolls. I also pair each of the villains with one of the Designer Princess dolls, which I have deboxed.

I got Ariel today. I ordered her online on release day, October 27, 2018. She is #2047 of 4500. She and the box arrived in perfect shape. However, the invitation card has slipped down in the plastic sleeve, and won't stay up. I love her face and hair, but her dress is a bit too gaudy for my taste, although it is appropriate for an 80's girl. Her hair is stiff at the ends to keep its curl, so it got a little messy when I broke it up to even out her hair in the back. I cut off the rubber band securing the purse string to her shoulder. I had to use a little tape to keep it from sliding off her shoulder afterwards. I show her boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed. I have her now on my desk, right next to me as I type this. It is convenient that I got her just before the next one, Tiana, is released tomorrow.

Belle's horse Philippe. He is a plush toy that is 10 inches high and 10 inches long. He is too small to be to scale with the other dolls in this set. A better match would be the separately sold medium Philippe plush ($19.95), who available in some Disney Stores. His saddle is removable. His bridle and reins are tacked to his body.

I just got the Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set ($79.95) from my local Disney Store (on Thursday June 30, 2016). The accessory figures look really detailed and well done. In fact, I like Chip better in this set than the one with the new Classic Belle doll. Also the bluebird looks nicer than the one with the new Classic Snow White. Belle and Beast are in their winter outfits. Belle also has her blue peasant outfit and her yellow ball gown. Beast also has his formal outfit. Philippe is way too small, but is a very cute plush. I like this set way better than the ones for Aladdin or Sleeping Beauty.

Anna's coronation gown is fairly accurate, except for the heavily glittered skirt. I would have preferred the version that was in the Disney Parks Anna Doll Dress Set (2016). The glitter sheds readily, including on her legs, which is hard to get off since the rubbery legs have a sticky surface. However, the glitter does make the skirt stiff so it can keep a full shape with the need for a petticoat. Her pendant necklace is by far the most accurate that has been produced for a 12 inch doll. Her face mold is the same as the one they produced for the OFA 12 inch Anna dolls. Her face paint is very similar, except that they made her freckles more prominent and her rouge is darker. Her hair is also essentially the same as on the OFA doll, except for a prominent white streak. Whereas the pendant looks very good, her crown looks mighty cheap. She has black flats. Her outfit is a definite improvement over the 2014 Deluxe Singing Anna Doll, but I wish she had her old cute face.

I just bought the newly released 12 inch singing dolls from my local Disney Store. They are not yet available online. They had Aurora (as Briar Rose), Belle (in her Winter outfit) and Anna (in her Coronation outfit). They are $19.95 each, and have the same packaging as the Ariel, Cinderella, Elsa, Jasmine and Moana singing dolls released in 2018. They sing for about 15 seconds when you twist their left hand (to your right as you face them). Aurora sings 'Once Upon a Dream' acapella, Belle sings 'Something There' acapella and Anna sings 'Love Is an Open Door' with musical accompaniment.

I just received the Snow White Dance Party Playset from the Disney Store. I had ordered two of them when they were released last Monday (Sept 24), and they came in the original shipper box packed together. That reminds me of how the two Disney Princess Designer Collection Snow White dolls came two to a box when I ordered them together. The two playsets were placed facing each other, with a tissue paper between them and on top, with no wriggle room. The shipper box was intact except for a small dent in one corner, which translated into a dent in one of the playsets. The other playset box was in almost perfect condition, so I chose the dented one to debox.

It is available online in the US ShopDisney site for $29.95, but I haven't seen it in the local Disney Stores yet.

This is a wonderful set depicting one of the best scenes in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow White dances with Dopey (who is standing on Sneezy), while Grumpy plays the organ. There is also a chair, a bluebird and a small deer in the set. Snow White is a 11.5 inch tall Classic Princess doll with an accurate depiction of her Princess gown. There is glitter on her dark blue bodice, but none on her pale yellow skirt. She has flat feet and yellow flats. Her hair is heavily gelled to keep its style, so it is quite stiff throughout.

The rest of the contents of the set are figures. Grumpy is made to sit in the organ seat, with his hands on the keyboard. The organ pipes move up and down when Grumpy's accordion-like seat is pressed. The deer free stands very stably. Dopey is in a long coat, with Sneezy underneath him. Sneezy is mostly hidden under the coat, but his lower legs and feet stick out the bottom. Dopey/Sneezy can free stand very stably, even with the odd dancing stance of Sneezy's feet.

The cardboard backing has artwork depicting the inside of the Dwarfs' cottage. So after deboxing the contents, the backing can be opened up to provide a backdrop for the dancing scene.

The set can be placed back in the original box after deboxing, which I show in my last photo.

Anna fully deboxed and standing, supported by a Kaiser stand.

I got the Anna and Elsa Doll Set for Olaf's Frozen Adventure, from my local Disney Store on Wednesday September 27, 2017. They are in the new Holiday outfits, made of faux suede. Elsa has a cape attached to the back of her dress, and has a fur collar with embedded red jewels. Anna has a jacket that is sewn to her bodice. They both have the new style rubber legs with flat feet. Elsa has flat heeled ice shoes, which are a loose fit. Anna has boots with low heels. Anna is about 1/4 inch taller than Elsa (11 1/2 vs 11 1/4 inches), which looks awkward when they are side by side. They both have new face sculpts, for the first time since their original Classic dolls were introduced in 2013. I like how they look, but I like Elsa more than Anna. The old faces looked younger and cuter, but the new faces are more movie accurate.

Singing Ariel is fully deboxed. She is standing up, supported by a Kaiser stand.

I got the new Disney Store 11 1/2 inch singing Ariel doll on Monday July 9, 2018. I also got the Cinderella singing doll at the same time, whom I will show separately. They are showing up in various Disney Stores both here in the US and also in the UK, but are not yet available online.

She is in much simpler packaging than previous singing dolls, and has no accessories. She is also less expensive than previous singing dolls, only $19.99, just $5 more than a regular Classic doll. Ariel has a lovely new face paint that is different than the current Classic Ariel doll.

Ariel sings 'Part of Your World'. Ariel is in mermaid form, with a purple bra that has a large blue gem in the middle, and an iridescent dark blue-green tail with light blue-green fins.

I have deboxed Singing Ariel and will post detailed photos of her soon.

She has a pink cloth flower in her hair, with a yellow jewel in the center. It is tacked to her head with a T-tab. There is glitter on her bra, and in the tulle fins and fringe around her waist, but sheds very little, if at all. Her satin tail is iridescent, and has outlines of scales printed in black. She has the new style rubber legs, with internal click stop knee joints, and fixed flat feet.

But I have bad news about her singing. She only sings one verse of 'Part of Your World', which lasts about 12 seconds, and that's it. I thought that was just the Try Me mode, but there is no pull tab, or alternate switch position to make the song segment longer. And when you twist her hand again, the same verse repeats itself. Boo! The previous Ariel singing dolls (both 12 inch and 16 inch) all sang three verses of the song, lasting about 30 seconds. Some of the other 12 inch singing dolls from past years would sing 2 verses, or about 20 seconds of their song, but this new Ariel only singing one verse is very disappointing, despite her low price compared to past singing dolls.

In these photos, the 19'' LE Disney Store China Girl Doll is on the left, and the 14'' Tollytots China Girl Doll on the right. The first photo has them free standing side by side. But they are not especially stable free standing, and also their size difference makes it difficult to compare their faces directly, especially in closeups. So in all other photos where they are standing, I have them supported by doll stands. Also I put the 14'' doll on a small box, to put their faces on the same level. The final two photos have them sitting down.

With the great difference in their prices, one might think that the Disney Store doll would be greatly superior in every aspect except the price. But that isn't the case, which makes this comparative review not just an academic exercise. My review will breakdown the differences in the dolls in various physical categories.

Packaging:

The DS doll comes in a very large collector's box, with the doll laying between two satin lined styrofoam blocks. The box bottom and lid is sturdy cardboard, and is beautifully decorated, with a large photos of the in front and back. The doll cannot be viewed through the box lid, as there is no viewing window. The doll is very easily removed from the box by breaking the seals, removing the lid, and then lifting the doll from its styrofoam bed.

The Tollytots doll comes in a plastic and cardboard box that has a clear viewing window to see the doll. It is in a box in a box that takes a bit of time to finally get the doll in clear view. Then there are numerous packaging restraints that have to removed to remove the doll from the backing, but less than for the usual Disney Store doll.

Face:

The DS doll's face is very movie accurate, and has the look of an antique porcelain doll. The large dark blue eyes are glancing to her upper left. Her black eyelashes are very densely painted. She has thin slightly arched black eyebrows. She has a small button nose. Her small mouth is in a closed subtle smile, with her thin lips painted a dark red. She has a large round chin. She has large patches of light pink rouge on her cheeks. Her expression is that of gentleness, optimism and love. Her face is pointed slightly upward, due to the construction of her neck joint, which makes her upward glance even more poignant. There is a network of surface indented lines that represent crazing in her porcelain skin. But it is not painted dark, as it is in the rest of her body. Her skin is color is pure white, and has a glazed, glassy surface that makes it very shiny and smooth. It has the look and feel of actual porcelain.

The Tollytots doll's face is less movie accurate, and has the look of a modern doll. Her large bright blue eyes are glancing to her left. She has nine thin, short closely spaced dark gray eyelashes over each eye. She has dark gray eyebrows that are medium thickness and not arched. She has a small button nose. She has a small mouth with full lips painted bright red, in a closed smile. She has small patches of light, faint pink rouge on her cheeks. She has a smaller chin than the DS China Girl. Her face is pointed straight ahead and level in her normal head position. Her expression is pleasant ahnd contented, but lacks the emotion of the DS China Girl. There is a network of surface indented lines that represent crazing in her porcelain skin. Like the DS China Girl, it is not painted in, but it is fainter than in the DS doll. Her skin is color is a very pale pink color and is shiny and smooth. But it still looks like plastic, not porcelain.

Hair:

Both dolls have molded hair, that is styled in a short bob that is very movie accurate. There is also a network of indented lines that represent crazing in both dolls. However the DS doll has those line painted a dark gray, which makes them much more movie accurate. Tollytots doll doesn't have the lines painted, so they look less realistic. The Tollytots doll also has a prominent mold line running across the top of her head from side to side, which makes her cheap looking. There are also mold lines in other parts of her body, although they aren't as evident. The DS doll has no visible mold lines anywhere on her body.

Outfits:

The DS doll has a two layered dress, made up of a silver and white lacey layer with a light blue satin layer underneath. The lacey layer has an embroidered floral pattern; the satin layer is plain. Both layers have a organza ruffled hem in the skirt. She has a blue and silver satin sash around her waist, tied into a large bow in the back. Underneath her dress she is wearing satin bloomers with blue trim.

The Tollytots doll has a single layer silver and blue satin dress, with a printed floral pattern. It has lace trim at the neckline, and a ruffled satin and organza hem in the skirt.

Nether dress has a floral pattern that matches that of the promo images of the China Doll, or what is seen in the trailers. In fact the 4'' mini China Girl doll has a more movie accurate dress, except for the fact that it is molded plastic, rather than made of fabric. Perhaps the larger dolls' dresses are patterned after dresses that the China Girl wears in other scenes of the movie, that have not been released by Disney on their website yet.

Shoes:

Both dolls have the same style molded strap on black shoes that simulate patent leather shoes, and are long and narrow. The glaze on the DS doll makes it much smoother and shinier, and hence more like patent leather and more movie accurate.

Body and Skin:

The DS doll has a solid resin body that is very heavy, especially compared to plastic dolls of similar size. She weighs in at a hefty 3 lbs 10 oz (58 oz), almost 7 times the weight of the Tollytots doll, who weighs only 8.5 oz. She is 18.5'' tall, versus the 14'' Tollytots doll. The DS doll is supposed to be a replica of the doll in the movie, so one would think that it would have the same size. However looking at the trailers, my feeling is the that the Tollytots doll is actually a more accurate size. I will try to make an accurate estimate of the size of the movie doll by taking frame grabs of the movie trailers where China Girl is in the same scene, next to Oscar Diggs.

The resin body of the DS doll is much more fragile than the the plastic body of the Tollytots doll. The Tollytots doll has accidently fallen on a hard surface several times, with no visible damage. One such fall for the DS doll would likely cause chipping or cracking of a body part, as she is so much heavier, and made of more brittle material.

As I have already mentioned, the DS doll has a much more movie accurate replication of the crazing on her body, since it is filled in with dark gray paint, except on her face. On her legs there are several deeper cracks that are where Oscar Diggs repaired the doll by gluing her together. They have a yellowish color to simulate glue. The Tollytots doll has a couple of cracks on her legs, but they aren't very deep and are not filled in with any color.

Articulation:

The DS doll has articulation only in her neck, shoulders and hips. The shoulder and hip joints are ball joints, but are spring loaded, which is also unique for a Disney LE doll. Her head can swivel about 45 degrees to the left and the right in a plane that is about 15 degress raised from the horizontal. Her arms can rotate about the vertical plane 360 degrees. They can also swivel away from the vertical up to 90 degrees, but the spring loading makes the arm return back to the vertical attitude when it is let go, so it cannot hold the pose. The hips can rotate 360 degrees about a plane that is tilted 45 degrees from the midline of her torso. Therefore she has to splay her legs outward when sitting. Like the arms, the legs can also be tilted away from its natural rotational plane, but will spring back the it's natural position when let go. Her head actually squeeks when it is moved, and her arms and legs make clanging noises from the springs moving internally.

The Tollytots doll has very complete articulation, and is fully ball jointed. Hence she greatly exceeds the level of articulation of the DS doll. The only joint that doesn't have near complete freedom of movement is her neck, which can rotate about 90 degrees to the left and the right, and swivel up from the horizontal about 10-20 degrees. All the joints hold their poses very well, and seem to be very solidly made. She is the only fully ball jointed doll that I own, so I am very pleased with the level of her articulation. The only thing lacking from being completely movie accurate is the lack of articulation in the fingers. But you could say that was a cheat in the movie, since there are no obvious joints in the movie characters fingers, and a porcelain doll can't very well have internal joints in her fingers. And of course a porcelain doll shouldn't be able to have changing facial expressions, or talk either. But she is in the magical land of Oz, where all things are possible.

Accessories:

The DS doll comes with a custom display stand, with wooden base, and a Certificate of Authenticity. Both are individually numbered with the edition (serial) number, as is the doll itself.

The Tollytots doll has no accessories.

Summary:

The DS doll is much more movie accurate in overall appearance, but lacks the level of articulation in the Tollytots and movie doll. Her outfit is also much more detailed and extensive. The Tollytots doll is probably closer to the size of the movie doll. The Tollytots doll is pretty, but the DS doll has a magical quality to her that makes her much closer to the movie character in facial expression. Finally her weight makes her feel more realistic as a porcelain doll come to life. The Tollytots doll looks and feels like a modern plastic doll. But the DS doll's cost, fragility and lack of articulaton makes her a display doll, rather than a play doll like the Tollytots doll. As a Disney doll collector, I am very happy to have both dolls.

Designer Mulan has been fully deboxed, and is posed standing, supported by the custom doll stand. Her skirt and train, freed from the factory restraints, are now wider than the doll stand, and are allowed to drape over the edges of the base, especially in the rear.

First look at the Disney Princess Designer Collection Mulan Doll. I bought her online on release day, September 12, 2011. I received her a week later, so It's been more than a year and a half since I got this doll. But I have not deboxed her until now, and this the first time I am doing a full photoshoot of her. This the tenth and final Designer Princess to be deboxed. I will photograph her boxed, during her deboxing, and fully deboxed.

My Designer Mulan doll is a limited edition doll that was produced and sold exclusively by the Disney Store, and is numbered 4710 of 6000. She is the title character of the Disney animated feature Mulan (1998). She comes in an acrylic case with a built-in doll stand, with a base that has a golden filigree design, and a golden metallic nameplate. There is also a cardboard cover for the case that I have not photographed here.

She is 11 1/2'' tall, and has the same body as the other Designer Princess dolls, with jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips and knees (internal). She has rubber legs and fixed ankles, with feet angled for high heels.

She has jet black hair wrapped into a beehive hairdo. There is a black rubber band tying the end of the original ponytail, the end of which is neatly tucked into the beehive. There is a long curl that goes from the middle of her forehead to below the front of her neck. After she was deboxed I chose to wrap the curl behind her neck so it wouldn't be so prominent. She has very pale white skin, in fact by far the palest skin of any of the Designer Princess dolls, matching the skin of the Classic Mulan doll. She shares the same face sculpt as the Classic Mulan doll, which hasn't changed since at least 2010 (I don't have any earlier dolls with which to directly compare Designer Mulan), but with glammed up makeup. She has narrow dark brown almond shaped eyes that are glancing towards her left. She has glittering silver eye shadow with blue above it, and thick black eyebrows. She has rooted eyelashes, that are tapered in length from short to long, then at the ends there are very long curved antenna like lashes. She has a small straight nose, full light pink lips in with a closed mouth exaggerated smile. She has very pale pink rouge on her cheeks.

Her two piece gown is made mostly of pink double layered satin. Her bodice consists of ruffled pink organza over pink satin, with pink lacy trim. Around her waist is a very wide deep blue satin sash, with blue jewels embedded. There is a bright red rope belt around her waist, tied into a bow in the front, and the ends of which dangle almost to the floor. The ends of the rope are sewed to the skirt by red thread, which I elected to leave alone. The floor length skirt is entirely of pink satin, is form fitting, and flares at the bottom, and is considerably wider towards the back. Attached to the back of the dress is a very long pink satin train, the top of which is shaped into a fan. It's a shame that most of it, especially the fan part, cannot be seen from the front, nor without deboxing the doll.

She is wearing light pink high heeled shoes, which match the color of her skirt.

Her accessories include gloves, earrings and hair picks. She is wearing full length pink stretch gloves, with light pink jewels embedded. She is wearing stud earrings with round light pink jewels. Finally she has two identical hair picks stuck in her beehive hairdo, decorated with large pink plastic flowers, with embedded clear jewels. The stems of the picks are deep red in color, and extend to stick out the back of her beehive.

Since she had a relatively simple outfit, with nothing underneath her gown, and her form fitting skirt would make it a hassle to remove her from the stand and later to put her back, I decided not to remove her from the doll stand. But since all the factory restraints have been removed from the doll, I consider her to be fully deboxed. The one surprise from deboxing her was the length and extent of her gown's train, as well as the fan design at its top. The overall look of the doll and her outfit matches the original design sketch very closely, except for the beehive hairdo (rather than a round bun), and the lengthening of her front curl. For some reason, her entire body was tilted to the right (her left) in the original packaging. I was glad I could straighten out her body before reboxing her.

Elsa has been fully deboxed. She is laying down to inspect her outfit.

I got the Anna and Elsa Doll Set for Olaf's Frozen Adventure, from my local Disney Store on Wednesday September 27, 2017. They are in the new Holiday outfits, made of faux suede. Elsa has a cape attached to the back of her dress, and has a fur collar with embedded red jewels. Anna has a jacket that is sewn to her bodice. They both have the new style rubber legs with flat feet. Elsa has flat heeled ice shoes, which are a loose fit. Anna has boots with low heels. Anna is about 1/4 inch taller than Elsa (11 1/2 vs 11 1/4 inches), which looks awkward when they are side by side. They both have new face sculpts, for the first time since their original Classic dolls were introduced in 2013. I like how they look, but I like Elsa more than Anna. The old faces looked younger and cuter, but the new faces are more movie accurate.

Holiday Elsa has been fully deboxed. She is standing, supported by the included display stand.

I was surprised that her dress was about a half inch short of floor length. That is probably so that her ice heels can be seen under her dress, when it is pulled tight against her body. Her dress also has a long train, which is hidden when her cape is behind her. Her velvet dress has a deep red satin lining. Her cape has a sheer blue lining. Her cape flows better than those of Snow Queen or Frozen Fever Elsa because it is made from lighter material, and doesn't have any embroidery.

I will compare OFA Elsa with the other 17 inch Elsa dolls soon.

Detailed photos of the Olaf's Frozen Adventure Elsa Limited Edition Doll. I got her from my local Disney Store on release day, Tuesday December 12, 2017, along with Anna. I was the only one waiting for the dolls before the store opened. She is #3818 of 7000.

I like her very much, both her new face and outfit. But she does have a couple of defects. One is that her hair is a bit messy on top, where part of her crown of bangs going the wrong way. The other is that there is a shallow cut on her forehead, that is especially visible when looking straight on in bright lighting. I think of it as a scar from the fight in the ice castle. The nicest thing I've discovered about the doll is that she has dark blue ice heels.

Unlike the comparable dolls Frozen Fever Elsa and Harrods Snow Queen Elsa, OFA Elsa's cape doesn't have any embroidery. The snowflake and icicle patterns are depicted using glued on silver glitter appliques and clear crystals. Her dress does have considerable use of embroidery. I will call her Holiday Elsa since she is in her Christmas outfit.

Deboxing singing Cinderella. Front cover off, then front backing removed with Cinderella still attached.

I got the new Disney Store 11 1/2 inch singing Cinderella doll on Monday July 9, 2018. I also got the Ariel singing doll at the same time, whom I will show separately. There are also new singing Moana, Jasmine and Elsa dolls, which I have not gotten yet. They are showing up in various Disney Stores both here in the US and also in the UK, but are not yet available online.

She is in much simpler packaging than previous singing dolls, and has no accessories. She is also less expensive than previous singing dolls, only $19.99, just $5 more than a regular Classic doll. She has a lovely new face paint that is different than the current Classic doll.

Cinderella sings 'A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes' when you twist left her hand. Like Ariel, Cinderella only sings one verse of her song, lasting about 12 seconds. She has golden blonde hair, with gentle curls stiffened by hair product, so I left them mostly alone. She has a glittering dark pink dress, with white satin collar and hem, and decorated by pale pink ribbons. She has a pink sash around her waist, and a thin pink ribbon and bow in her hair. She has dark blue eyes, dark pink lips in an open mouth smile, and is glancing to her right. She is a beautiful doll, and is my second favorite 12 inch Cinderella doll, after the Heroes and Villains Cinderella.

The Belle 12'' doll standing, supported by a Kaiser stand. She is wearing her pink winter outfit, with her cape off. Her ponytail was a bit messy after taking it out of the hood of the cape, so I combed it to make it as neat as I could. It was curly, and off center. There was a nice pink bow in her hair above the ponytail. The pink and red dress was covered in glitter, which did shed. The half length sleeves had large ruffled cuffs. Belle looks dainty in her pink dress without the cape and hood. I also left out the bluebird in these poses.

Detailed photos of the dolls in the Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set, deboxed. They include the 1/6 scale Beast, Belle and Gaston dolls, and the Philippe plush. Beast and Belle are in their winter outfits. I show Beast and Belle both with and without their capes. The bluebird figurine is included with Belle when she has her cape on. Beast is not that stable free standing, so I support him with a Kaiser stand for these photos.

I just got the Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set ($79.95) from my local Disney Store (on Thursday June 30, 2016). The accessory figures look really detailed and well done. In fact, I like Chip better in this set than the one with the new Classic Belle doll. Also the bluebird looks nicer than the one with the new Classic Snow White. Belle and Beast are in their winter outfits. Belle also has her blue peasant outfit and her yellow ball gown. Beast also has his formal outfit. Philippe is way too small, but is a very cute plush. I like this set way better than the ones for Aladdin or Sleeping Beauty.

Deboxing Designer Snow White. She is removed from the inner box by undoing the tabs and wires holding the doll and stage to the inner box. Then the large plastic support is removed from her head and back, and remaining factory restraints removed from the doll's outfit. Then the doll is removed from the stage by freeing the display stand. Then the display stand is removed from the doll. We lay down the doll and inspect her outfit.

I received my Disney Designer Collection Premiere Series Snow White Limited Edition Doll today. I had ordered her online at the release day, shortly after 12 AM in the morning of Saturday October 6, 2018. She is #1301 of 4100. She came in a shipper box that is approximately the same size as the LE 17 inch doll shippers. It original shipping label said GIRLS TOYS LE PR DSGN SNOW DOLL F18, and CART #: 01298. There was a small piece of masking tape stuck to the side of the box with the actual edition number (matching the CoA): 1301. Inside there was another corrugated cardboard box snugly fitting in the outer shipping box. Inside that was the actual doll box, which was covered with tissue paper, and fit snugly in the inner shipping box, with cardboard caps on the top and bottom of the doll box. The shipper box was undamaged in transit, as was the inner box and the doll box itself.

The doll box has folding panels in the front with magnetic closure, with a large design sketch of Snow White and the year 1937 in large numerals. In the background are photographers in silhouette snapping photos, and a red carpet. The back of the box has angled corners, making for a hexagonal shaped box. The sides and back of the box also has images of Snow White. The top of the box has a clear window with the title of the collection in gold lettering. Inside the front covers are replicas of the movie poster, invitation and tickets to the premiere of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles, on December 21, 1937. The doll is behind a rectangular viewing window extending almost the full width and height of the box.

The inner box containing the doll and front viewing window can be slid out from the outer box. It is entirely enclosed, so can be displayed as is, without having to deal with the front covers either covering up the doll, or taking up space in front or to the sides of the inner box. The doll is on top a red carpet that has steps in front, and is flocked cardboard.

The doll herself is by far my favorite of the current Designer Premiere Series. I'm slightly biased because Snow White is my favorite Disney Princess, and am so happy that she turned out so well. I think her gown and accessories are very beautifully designed and produced. It also is very fitting for Snow White, and would be something she would wear to the premiere of her own movie.

I show her boxed, with the inner box removed from the outer box, and finally with the front viewing window removed from the inner box.

I will fully debox her tomorrow and post photos here when I do.

New Disney Store Gaston medium plush ($19.95). Gaston is good looking, but should be a bit larger (and beefier) to be the right scale next to Belle.

Detailed photos of the three Beauty and the Beast plush that I bought on June 30, 2016 from the Disney Store. The Disney Store also had plush of many of the enchanted staff of the Beast, which I may buy at a later time.

Deboxing Classic Belle. The front clear plastic cover has been removed. Belle and Chip are still attached to the cardboard backing, but are now in clear view.

Detailed photos of the 2016 Classic Belle 12'' doll. I love her face, and her widow's peak. But her hair is parted into two sections for packaging. After deboxing it is hard to join the sections neatly, especially since the bottom curls are very stiff from hair product. Her glittering yellow ball gown is very beautiful and move accurate from the front, and has a nice round shape when deboxed. But the gathering and satin ribbon decoration are not continued in the back. Unfortunately, this is usual for the gowns on non-LE Belle dolls. Chip is very light, and can be balanced nicely on her gloved hand. But I find his face a bit creepy, rather than cute. Belle has yellow flats once again. Even though she wears flats in the movie, I would rather that the doll wore heels.

This is a very beautiful and well made heavy duty charm bracelet with a watch. The watch has a portrait of Ariel made by Enrique Pita. It is adjustable in length from about 7'' to 8 1/2'' long. In contrast with the Ariel Charm Bracelet released earlier this year (currently sold out), it has no charms of sidekick characters from The Little Mermaid. It is clearly meant to be for adults, to wear or to collect.

Note: Despite the name of the item and what the description states below, there was no D23 sticker on the lid of my watch case.
