(Buffalo, NY) – On Sunday, June 19th at 11:00 am, New Yorkers United for Marriage will hold a Marriage Matters round table discussion in Buffalo. The discussion will focus on the effects of marriage equality legislation on local families.
On hand to share their stories with media from the Buffalo News and WGRZ-TV 2, were Julie Macpherson and Valerie Cary, Kitty Lambert (OUTSPOKEN for Equality) and Cheryle Rudd, Mark Flanders and Peter Bisuito, as well as Tom Gleed, the Stonewall Democrats Mark Ball, and Terry Purdue.
All took time away from their families to Tell Their Stories, Detail Personal Effect of Marriage Equality Legislation and ultimately to share their struggles and stories regarding their lives without having access to the rights, privileges, benefits, protections, and responsibilities that only a recognized marriage can bring to a household.
New Yorkers United for Marriage is a coalition of leading New York LGBT rights organizations fighting so that all couples in New York State have the freedom to marry the person they love.
The Roundtable was hosted by the New York Civil Liberties Union's Western Regional Office, a proud ally in the struggle to win Marriage Equality in New York State and eliminate discrimination for all New Yorkers.
CSIS and the Integration and Trade Sector of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for a discussion on the links between transport infrastructure, export development, and economic growth. Representatives from business, government, and multilateral institutions will discuss this timely topic in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Driven by declining import tariffs, poor infrastructure, and increasing specialization in transport-intensive goods, transport costs are arguably one of today’s most formidable obstacles to trade in LAC. A lack of regional infrastructure can limit development to ports or other accessible transit points, rendering whole regions undeveloped and potential for broad-based growth unrealized.
Mauricio Mesquita Moreira, Principal Economic Advisor of the Integration and Trade Sector at the IDB, will present findings from a new book entitled Too Far to Export, which is part of a broader IDB effort to assess the impact of trade costs on the level and diversification of countries' overall trade performance.

This is in followup to my picture (and related discussion) yesterday of the current ceiling over the South Station concourse (linked below.) Zone6Pass referred me to some pictures and info on the original ceiling in South Station, part of which is still in place. It can be seen in the ticket office and also Club Acela.
The ceiling is at second-story level. The part of the ticket office where passengers wait in line has no second story, so you can see the ceiling from there. The part where the agents stand has Club Acela above it (that's what's past the railing seen here) so the agents only have a boring low ceiling above them, and Club Acela has this ceiling.
On December 5, 2016, the new Brookings Center on Regulation and Markets hosted an event releasing new research on the congestion reducing benefits of autonomous vehicles and the consumer surplus stemming from the sharing economy. Following the presentations, the authors participated in a panel discussion with other experts on the benefits, costs, and prospects for autonomous vehicles. After the panel, Rep. Earl Blumenauer delivered a keynote address focusing on what role Congress plays in transportation and how autonomous vehicles can fix the nation’s infrastructure.
