I took this photo for the Stormtrooper, which seems to be a thing at other stores I've visited. As I was reviewing my photos and writing the descriptions for them, I took note of the guy in the background, hence the title.

Kmart Discount Store located at 2501 Red Wheat Dr. in Clinton,OK. As of December 27th 2018 this is the last Kmart operating in the State of Oklahoma. The store was well stocked in the clothing departments although other areas were lacking most notably the electronics department which had a mix of TVs and mattresses on display next to each other. The garden center had a few bags of dirt and a display of seed packs but no live plants available. The grocery department had the basic essentials (cereal, soda, crackers) but prices were not competitive with a nearby grocery store. There were six registers at the front end of the store but only one was open at noon with three people in line and no other employee looking very inclined to open a second register. This store opened in 1991 replacing a smaller location a few blocks away. The smaller store is currently occupied by an Atwood's Ranch and Home Store.

Kmart Discount Store located at 58 Western Ave. in Augusta,ME. The store is slated to closed in December 2019 as reported on a leaked corporate memo that also provides the closing locations of 93 additional Kmart and Sears locations across the Country. This store opened in 1961 as a Grant City Discount Store and was acquired by Kmart in 1977. The store has a very strange layout and an overall terrible location with very poor visibility so the upcoming closure isn't much of a surprise. There were less than ten customers in the store during the time of my visit around 1:00pm on Friday August 8th 2019.

Former Zayre Discount Store located at 40 East Ave. in Lewiston,ME. The building is currently sub-divided between an indoor gym operating under the name Fun-Z Trampoline Park and a buffet restaurant operating under the name Sea40 Japanese Cuisine. The 90,000 square foot store opened for business on October 16th 1969 and like many Zayre location was converted to an Ames Discount Store in late 1988. This store remained in operating until the final liquidation of Ames which occurred in 2002. After Ames closed the building sat vacant until 2005 at which point a Planet Fitness and buffet restaurant had opened on the left hand side of the building. In 2006 a call center was opened in roughly 2/3rds of the building while the former Zayre Auto Center was converted into a Japanese Restaurant. The call center ceased operations in the late 2010s and by 2019 the space had been converted into Fun-Z Trampoline Park.

Note that Planet Fitness had closed in the late 2010s and the trampoline park expanded into the space..

It should also be noted the irony that both the left and right hand sides of the building were converted into buffet restaurants although in 2019 only one was still operating.

Guess what, beauties? The moment you've been waiting for has finally arrived!✨

The poster, wrapped around a column, on the left depicts AKB48, a wildly popular female pop music phenomena that has 64 members divided into several groups. Its last 12 singles have hit #1 in Japan. The group even has its own theater in Akihabara where they perform daily. Because of the group's tremendous popularity, tickets usually can only be obtained by lottery. The 16 performers for each particular single are determined by fan vote and a rock-paper-scissor tournament. (Yes, really!)

It is amazing this is still here. This hasn't been Harts since 1991 and Big Bear Plus hasn't operated here for over ten years now.

This opened on March 20th, 1974 as two separate Big Bear (grocery store) and Harts (discount store) stores. Both Big Bear and Harts was owned by Big Bear Stores; they were frequently built attached to each other but were still separate stores.

In 1988 Big Bear came out with a new concept called Big Bear Plus where both Harts and Big Bear were combined into one store. I recall one Big Bear Plus store I was in to be a lot like an older Kmart (it had a drop ceiling with the strips of exposed lighting) with a grocery store added into the existing store. Big Bear Plus stores were no where near the size of most supercenters / hypermarkets; they ranged in size from 70,000 square feet to 140,000 square feet. Most Big Bear Plus stores were around 100,000 square feet, give or take 10,000.

This Big Bear Plus store in Lancaster was 98,000 square feet after Harts and Big Bear stores combined here in mid 1991. All Harts stores not merged with a Big Bear grocery store were closed in the mid-1990s. There was another Big Bear grocery store on the other side of Lancaster but it had no attached Harts store., that store closed in 1999. This store was closed along with the rest of the Big Bear chain in 2004. Most of the building is currently empty but Tractor Supply Company has moved into part of the old Harts part of the store.

This store got a massive remodel back in 2006. Only thing that wasnt changed was the flooring. Unlike most other Kmarts in Maryland, this one is kept top notch. The closest Kmart is in Edgewater, and that store is even nicer. This store still does great business even though a new Target opened down the street.
