The Sisters of the Holy Face of Jesus (HFJ), formerly known as the Holy Face of Jesus Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, was founded by Rev. Mother Mary Therese L. Vicente, HFJ (1921-1995) in Quiapo, Manila on October 1, 1986.
The inspiration that led to its foundation began when a replica of the Holy Shroud from Turin, Italy, was exhibited at the Manila Cathedral in August 1976 and Mo. Mary Therese, then a member of the Daughters of Mary Mother of the Church congregation, was given the task to be the Exhibit’s custodian.
Mo. Therese's strong desire to do the will of God and to lead people to Him was consistently manifested in her acts of piety and maternal concern for all peoples. Her openness to the various devotions that came her way was for her opportunity to lead people to God. That is why, when she encountered the Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus and observed the effect of this devotion on the others’ lives; she eventually deepened her involvement in it. After passing periods of discernment and obtaining blessings from Church authorities, she established a Center for the Holy Face of Jesus so that people can still visit and venerate the Holy Face even after the Exhibit. Her dedication to devotion and to the mission led her to officially leave the Daughters of Mary and found the Sisters of the Holy Face of Jesus.
As fruits of this devotion, lay religious organizations were also established: the Crusaders of the Holy Face of Jesus (CHFJ) in 1977, and then the Young Apostles of the Holy Face of Jesus (YAHFJ) and the Little Friends of the Holy Face of Jesus (LFHFJ) in 1990 and 1994, respectively.
Withstanding the various crises which accompanied the foundation of the sisters and in pursuing its stability, the Congregation continued their services in the Archdiocese of Manila and its mission expanded to other places in the Philippines as well. Relying primarily on God's Providence, the mission continues even after the death of the foundress on June 7, 1995.

In an evening prayer service, the Bishop congratulated and commissioned these students to serve in ministry leadership throughout the diocese. Sitting here today, reading a poem "Our Flag is Great", I ponder another time'
I'm reminded, for several years, its come & gone, the "9/11" terrorist crime!
A discernment prior to then, about people's indifference & disrespectful ways,
Left feelings that drastic times were coming, but not as terrible as the "9/11" days.
At public gatherings, people had no thought of reverence for our Flag's history,
For sacrifices made by friends & family, many dying patriotically, to keep us free.
Giving their lives or limbs or minds in times of crisis that threatened our liberty,
Going proudly, knowing this Country grew up fighting from sea to shining sea.
Of course there was concern, not wanting to leave loved ones so far behind,
But knowing in their hearts it was necessary to protect this land, so never mind.
Those not returning believed & fought for freedom others earlier died to earn.
For too long this history lesson escaped many, but was soon to be "re-learned."
Such a sad commentary, we have short memories of freedom they died to earn,
Not adhering to basic principles our founding fathers set out, will we ever learn?
It's noticeable by all those that had loved ones die in War & what it meant,
In war time, when they died, honoring our flag was showing them a compliment.
Those feelings never left this old country boy's thinking or appreciative ways,
Being one of a handful to remove a hat or place a hand on our heart in prior days.
I can too vividly remember disrespect at ball games, parades, or at race tracks,
"No Respect" during National Anthem, only laughing & hollering, a sad fact.
Then 9/11/2001, a dastardly deed causing the current liberating Foreign Wars,
Fighting terrorism in places it originates, pushing it away from USA's door.
Many more personnel in harms way have died over the past several years,
"Memorial Day" gives us pause to be aware of survivor's heartbreaking tears.
So many died for this freedom in establishing frontiers for Liberty worldwide,
Continuing today with our U.S troops, we should support them all with Pride.
For those dying long ago & the ones giving their all now in current campaigns,
To afford so many, a blood soaked Liberty, honor by letting freedom bells ring.
We should reflect continually on the history of our flag & all the lives given,
Maybe pause today, raise the Flag & say "thank you" for a free life we're livin'.
"Another Memorial Day" to appreciate all the fallen since the rockets red glare.

Immigration changed the rules of how visas are submitted just before I was to submit mine. The change meant that I couldn't submit and gain a visa the same day, but would have to put it in the drop box. This ended up causing my application to be after my current one expired, meaning I wasn't legally in the country, which ultimately kept me from getting the visa needed to stay in the country. And that led me on a 2 month fiasco with immigration and another pile of headaches, where I had to leave to Australia, hire a lawyer, and spend thousands to get another visa, despite already having a job offer with a reputable company. This on top of my past bloody battles with these people.
So to New Zealand immigration, I say go to hell you useless, callous, inhuman, incompetitent assholes with no common sense or discernment.

Finally, Li Qingxin and others spoke out loudly to the religious pastors and elders that "Stay out of my business," and completely broke free from their constraints and bondage, and returned before God's throne.

"Perilous Is the Road to the Heavenly Kingdom" (Gospel Movie Trailer)
Zhong Xin is a preacher at a house church in Mainland China. He has believed in the Lord for many years, and has been suffering capture and persecution of the CCP. He hates the CCP deeply and has already seen clearly that the CCP is a satanic regime treating God as its enemy. June 22, 2021 – Bishop Gregory Parkes presented 13 people with a Certificate in Lay Leadership Ministry at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle. In an evening prayer service, the Bishop congratulated and commissioned these students to serve in ministry leadership throughout the diocese. The Bishop remarked on their courageous commitment not only to ministry leadership, but to their four years of study in the program. Bishop Parkes also congratulated and thanked their spouses, family members and friends for their support and encouragement over the four years of the program.
The graduating class represented 10 parishes from around our diocese. Graduates completed one year of discernment and three years of academic and spiritual preparation.

Cerebus #136

Dave Sim has become a master of visual padding. In fact, if he’d written the preceding sentence, it would have read: Dave Sim, the creator, writer, penciller and publisher of “Cerebus”, a black and white comic book from Canada, has become a critically acclaimed and financially successful master at the art of visually extending a story, particularly through the use of repeated images, to the extent that he has earned a cult following of fans who are loyal to his work beyond the limits of critical discernment of the artform itself.
You get the idea. It occasionally takes Sim ten pages to show someone sneeze. Once.
He isn’t alone in this silliness. Japanese comics are rife with melodramatic poses that run into dozens of pages in length and accomplish nothing so much as reader boredom.
In the current issue, a girl named Jaka is being interrogated and humiliated by a thinly veiled caricature of Margaret Thatcher. In the process, Jaka’s husband learns she secretly carried and aborted his child. Jaka’s world, which has been carefully constructed in intricate detail, begins to crumble. And herein lays a reviewers dilemma with “Cerebus”.
For every abuse of the comics form, Sim has mastered at least two other aspects of comic books. He’s unbeaten at rich, believable and intricate characterization. Dave is excellent at dialogue. His plots are interesting, logical, consistent, and peppered with fresh twists. Sim’s art is beautiful, stylized and appropriate for his subject, and his visual storytelling is marred only by…well, you know.
A final word of advice given in the same structure Sim uses with rubber stamped, redundant panels of art:
Get on with the story, Dave. Get on with the story, Dave. Get on with the story, Dave.

Bishop Olmsted ordains three men to the priesthood

For the the third straight year, Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted ordained three men to the priesthood.
The bishop conferred the sacrament of Holy Orders on transitional deacons Matt Henry, Chad King and John Parks at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral.
"Seeing the love of the people for their priests [during the procession] gives us such a witness of their love and support," Fr. King said after the ordination.
Fr. Henry said the laying on of hands by the bishop was a special moment.
"My only part was just to say yes to that," he said, referring to the prayer of ordination.
Fr. Parks also noted the laying on of hands.
"I just felt that I was being reconfigured in my person," he said. Fr. Parks also mentioned receiving the Eucharist during the orination.
"I was just struck once again that God becomes the Eucharist for us," he said, underscoring God's humility.
Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted said all three priests know well the challenges that the Church faces today, including the shortcomings of its members, “but without losing heart, they are ready and eager to be faithful priests of the Lord Jesus” and convincingly share the faith.
“The three men I have the honor to ordain this year are quite different in personality but united by a deep love for the Lord Jesus, and an eagerness to hand on the good news of Christ in convincing ways,” Bishop Olmsted said in an interview prior to the June 5 ordination.
"From this day forward the people of God will call you 'father,' because you will love people in His name," the bishop told the new priests. He encouraged them to listen to confessions with compassion and called them to defend the unborn and the immigrant.
All three priests cited their involvement in youth ministry in the Phoenix Diocese as part of their discernment process.
Each newly ordained will celebrate their first Mass at their home parish June 6. The Mass times are staggered so the new priests can support each other from the pew.
Phoenix’s three new priests fit right in with the 440 men awaiting priestly ordination nationwide.
Of the 339 diocesan and religious ordinands who responded to the survey by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University, 72 percent are Caucasian. Half to three-quarters served in some parish ministry before entering the seminary.
More than half are between the ages of 25 and 34, roughly the same as last year. The median age of this year’s ordinands nationally is 33 with Fr. Henry, who turns 26 shortly, being the youngest nationally.

The color line always is a distressing topic, never to be dismissed, always dramatic, often coarsened by overvehemence. Mr. Bliss Perry, in "The Plated City," has shown marked powers of discernment and has treated a difficult subject with uncommon skill. It is the doubt about Esther Beaulieu, whether or not black blood runs in her veins, which makes her life so pathetic.

When I am among the trees,
