Things got a lot worse than they were.
I fell over in early October and broke my leg. Was in hospital for 5 weeks and am now in a convalescent home until January. When hopefully I might just get home on two legs.
Luckily Graham now has loads of extra help, so although he's finding it difficult he's OK. Also has a very modern walking aid, so can get about a bit.
The hospital's idea of having a link to the outside world was only down in the café and for the main part I couldn't get down to it. Here is even worse as the reception for the Internet is pitiful. Am using my laptop with the "boss'" Smartphone sitting next to me.
Will try and get back to see how you all are, but that is only when Julian can lend me his phone!!

Hi everybody and a great Friday morning to all and to all a great weekend.
In a word describing my visit with my daughter.....( DISASTER )......as soon as she got her my wife Tested Positive for Covid, so my daughter being the way she is changed her plans a flew back to New York the very next day, protecting he family, so that's how it's been here in the Kominsky house hold, things are looking up and am sure it will get better it has to at this point, it could not go any lower for sure.
Thanks to all for everything, your patience and friendship and understanding.

The Gullfoss waterfall is perhaps the most famous and stunning waterfall in all of Iceland. This water spectacle can be found on the Golden Circle and is created by the glacial river Hvítá. A busy spot of natural disaster that you should not miss during your tour through the land of fire and ice. This waterfall is also called golden waterfall because of the floating mist and is no less than 20 meters wide, 70 meters deep and the gorge that follows is 2.5 kilometers (!) Long. If you look closely you will see that the water at Gulfoss does not fall all at once, but gradually hits the gorge......
A news story today reminded me that this was the one year anniversary of the tornado that devastated the town of Fairdale,IL. and other areas in Northern Illinois.It started out as a warm,humid,and sunny early spring day,but as evening approached,an incoming cold front changed many people's lives forever.The main storm passed a few miles north of our farm in Sterling,IL.and strengthened a few miles east near Ashton and Rochelle.Fairdale was nearly wiped off the map-2 people were killed and more than 20 injured.Another wave of tornadoes hit in Central Illinois at the same time.

The town of Fairdale(population 150) is making good progress in rebuilding.Surprisingly,most of the money raised for rebuilding was raised privately,most residents were not eligible for government help or didn't have insurance...

It's 14F on a winter morning in Truckee. The entire winter had seen the Sierras being hammered with more snow than usual. On the railroad, snow banks were clipping cars and so the rotaries were sent out to take care of the job. After plowing east the previous day, the crew starts again long before sunrise. With a spreader set in front, the snow fighters slowly made their way to the summit. By sunrise, it was time for the show to begin, but the show would be cut short after the lead rotary suffered a failure and could no longer plow. Since its rebuild in 2017, the 222 was plagued with problems, and this failure would cause the rotary to be overhauled. The hope was to get the unit to be able to plow snow without breaking, something it hadn't been able to do. Since the overhaul, it has worked a lot better, and even went on to plow later in the season.
In the photo, the rotary set is just entering the mainline as it passes the Truckee station. Not far behind the camera the spreaders were waiting. The windchill was anything but pleasant, but for a rotary it was worth sitting in the elements.
A favourite tree, a sweet chestnut. So favourite that ages ago we gave it a name - "The Preacher" - from the two upward angled branches like beseeching arms that project in this view from the left.
Recent high winds ripped away a very long and very heavy branch from this old tree. Worse, the fall tore away a strip of bark from its trunk. Tissues just beneath bark have a critical role in transporting sap and nutrient laden water up and down the tree. Exposed, they are prone to infection. Will Preacher survive? We hope so.
Several donated pieces of ex-Amtrak equipment, including CF7 596, sit on display at Texas A&M Rescue Training Center in College Station, TX.
