Headlands and coastal mountains obscured by winter fog along the Big Sur Coast.

This is a scene that I have tried to photograph many times. When I stop to make a photograph here, it always seems like it should be easy… but it inevitably ends up being very challenging if not impossible. The subject is quite a distance away, so it requires a very long focal length. However, the long focal length magnifies issues created by air movement across the great distance, and even though the atmospheric softness is what I want, it is hard to get the right level of detail. I tried again this past week, and decided to take the subject in a bit of a different direction.

A challenge is that the hazy conditions that obscure and diffuse the subject in the way I hoped for also tend to be both gray and of quite low contrast. To address that I decided on a brighter, high key rendition of the scene in which the colors are extremely subtle and the darkest tones are, objectively speaking, still at the brighter end of the scale. In a sense, the object here is to “suggest” more than to “record.”

At first my composition was going to be a little more further from the line tower, but as the camera was taking the exposure I walked closer and liked this view way more. Always pays to explore the scene and work the subject.

Not much Flickr-ing from me lately, still don't have my own internet sorted.

But anyways, have a great rest of the week guys!

ET22-459 with coal train passes the north freight bypass of Poznań in direction Naramowice block and further probably towards Szczecin. September 17, 2004.

Although the landscape in Greater Poland is flat, here the raiilroad has to cross Warta river and its small valley, so this rail viaduct was constructed together with entire bypass in 1970. This viaduct with the bridge over Warta is about 1 km long.

Vicuñas are similar to the wild guanacos, to which the llama also belongs. The two species form the group of humpless New World camels.

In comparison, the vicuña has a more delicate build. It has the most extreme altitude distribution up to 5,000 m of all hoofed animals on the continent. Its wool is even finer than cashmere wool.

Cordillera Central altitude at 2.000 to 3.000 m

The Cordillera Central stretches over 1,200 km in a north-south direction in central Bolivia.

Ivan Vazov National Theater, Sofia, Bulgaria

The theatre pays great attention to the development of national playwriting, and at the same time the National Theatre is open to all innovative and remarkable creative initiatives.

The theatre building was designed by the famous architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer and completed in 1906. The theatre has three stages: the Main Stage with 780 seats, the Chamber Hall with 135 seats and the Apostol Karamitev Stage with 88 seats. However, other spaces, including rehearsal rooms, balconies and spaces around the building, have built a reputation as a venue for artistic events and are open to diverse ideas.
