I was focusing on my favorite convenience store to photograph and I saw a biker coming into the frame and I decided to include him in the composition. I was really happy with the results even though the punctum of this photograph —what Roland Barthes defines as the aspect of an image that moves a viewer in a deep or emotional way— was intended to be the dimly lit Parklaine Variety sign.
This is the beauty of photography; one often arrives with a specific goal in mind but it is often the accidents or unplanned events that make an image stand out.
Some mornings it is later till the light is more dim, there are clouds and the sun is almost always low. The colors are fine and that is a big difference and I like the winter sky.
