Over the holidays, Flickr told me they wanted to sell some of my images as stock. Never one to turn down free money, I've been sifting through lots of my digital archival images and pulling high-res versions of their selected images. I've been looking at some photos that I liked but never posted, like this one from December 2004. Looking back on the images gives me a good feeling. None of them are Pulitzer Prize winners, but it's fascinating to see how hard I'm looking, how I'm trying to pay attention, and how satisfying I find the seeing of these things. There's also something I really like about just chipping away for a long time at something, like digital photography. Even if my photography never "amounts to anything" or winds up in an ad or whatever. It makes me want to keep being that obnoxious person who brings my camera everywhere (not just my phone). It makes me want to keep working to see things in a certain way. This documented life is a pleasure.
