Fargo/Jackson, the oldest and most vibrant street in Indio quickly adapted to the trickle of single male railroad workers in the early 1900s and then waves of DWP viaduct workers in the 1930s and finally locally stationed soldiers in the 1940s.

It appears that Fargo/Jackson became the honky-tonk alley (wonder how stately Harris Company felt being in the midst of this?) and the 'family oriented' Miles Av around the corner became the retail center.

Indio's 'Combat Zone'

From longtime resident Bob Tyler:

"Bob Tyler

Hi Carl, there's a Periscope that has articles about the MWD and Indio in the 30's and early 40's. I think there are references to the Jackhammer, Passtime and a few other bars on Fargo St. There were the MWD hardrock miners, and then there were Patton's soldiers, so Indio was a boomtown with lots of liquor gambling and brothels."

Taking pictures used to be very different compared to modern times and required more preparation, skills and materials. Source: Instructions for amateur photographers (1926)

Artwork features ships familiar to fans of Star Trek in new situations of "alternate takes" from their original appearances. Unfortunately, this calendar is too large to be captured by must scanners, so the cover is the only that can be shown at this time.
