This was probably my favourite outing during my trip to the Faroe Islands, probably because of the unexpected photographic opportunities. I set off hiking up Slættaratindur from the high pass of Eiðisskarð and could see the summit shrouded in fog and a fresh coating of snow, but continued nonetheless. On the ascent I encountered a Danish couple who said they'd attempted the summit but gave up due to poor visibility and treacherous conditions. Being the stubborn person I am, I continued to see for myself.
Personally, I didn't find much difficulty throughout the ascent, but there again I'm used to winter conditions on the mountains at home. There were a couple of scrambling sections nearing the summit, but nothing worse than I'd attempted beforehand. And I'm so glad I made the decision to continue as the views were incredible.
This is the 3rd country high point I've conquered after Iceland's Hvannadalshnjúkur and Norway's Galdhøpiggen, but certainly my personal favourite in terms of photography mainly due to the epic conditions. The mountain fog was swirling around the summit, revealing glimpses of the view in all directions. This is the view looking east towards Funningsfjørður.
The name Slættaratindur literally translates as "flat summit”, and although from a distance and during the ascent it seems a misleading title, on reaching the top the name becomes apparent as it is certainly more spacious than expected, albeit with steep drops on all angles.

Living is Not Enough. One Needs Sunshine, Freedom... and Flowers

Each of my days begin with a quest for joy, a search that varies in difficulty. Today, it was a ranunculus blossom that delivered a smile.
These flowers, with their almost impossibly perfect, rose-like blooms and tissue-thin petals, are a visual delight.
Their spectrum of colors, from soft creams to vibrant burgundies, is simply breathtaking. While often reserved for high-end arrangements and bridal bouquets, their exquisite beauty has the power to transform an ordinary day into something special.

Whenever people suffered the difficulty in real life, they either faced the challenge with courage or hided themselves in their secret garden temporarily, made their sophicated thoughts within, and then find way to breakthrough again.
Have you ever own your secret garden ? It could be a real place in the world , or just a mental place at your mind, which made yourself feel safe & help you calm down from the suddently sufferings in real life.
Try to create the secret garden through the overlayering composition, it can be a place mixed with variable emotions, happiness, sorrow, hate, sadness, peaceful etc, not necesarry a subjective garden in vision, maybe just a private corner under the tree, on the meadow, or even the space between the leaves & air.. tell me how you think about your secret garden.
the difficulty with a 10mm DX is to get the picture straight and not dropping or going up to the right, so it takes many pictures before getting a straight or almost straight line, but I see that many flickerers don't mind and just put the first pic they get and that's all, I give extreme care to proportions , so my pictures are never, except on rare occasions, just snapshots , in this case I chose this picture because of the gull and it is almost at the right level of manual correction of distortion, anyway it is not easy to use such extreme lenses , above all with a full frame camera and a lens that is not full frame. I hope the picture will be appreciated for the movement that's inside it

I found the difficulty with the them was not being able to use the keyhole as a viewpoint (showing something the other side) or being able to show a key in the lock. Those two requirements made it rather tricky to produce something different. How to make just the keyhole appear interesting? My effort is not too marvelous - I tried to concentrate on the texture and colour. The theme was more difficult that I thought at first. A very few have taken some very original shots. Well done to them!
The difficulty to think at the end of day,
When the shapeless shadow covers the sun
And nothing is left except light on your fur —
There was the cat slopping its milk all day,
Fat cat, red tongue, green mind, white milk
And July the most peaceful month,
To be, in the grass, in the peacefullest time,
Without thought of the cat,
The cat forgotten on the moon;
And to feel that the light is a rabbit-light,
In which everything is meant for you
And nothing need be explained:
Then there is nothing to think of.

The difficulty with birds in flight captures is the lighting settings, but I keep on trying. Especially since nature provided me with a (nearly perfect) symmetrical photographic opportunity.
The Castle of Sümeg is one of the country's most beautiful, relatively well-preserved medieval fortresses, built on a barren hilltop that stands out from its surroundings.
Large-scale renovation works were completed in the Castle in 2022, the new interactive exhibition opened in the spring of 2023! Come, and see the exhibitions, the programs, travel back in time!
At the begining of the promenade - leading up to the Castle of Sümeg - you can find place to park your vehicle, but also from the Restaurant VÁRCSÁRDA you can find your way -with using a medium difficulty staircase- up to the castle.
I am having difficulty uploading today. In fact I was surprised that the last photo I tried to upload is in my photostream since I gave up and left Flickr after it timed out which evidently means it didn't time out even though I got the message that it did. We will see if this one will upload. Went directly to the "Bad, bad panda! Come on. We want photos" page but uploaded anyway.
Photographed in my front yard, Yakima County, Washington. Yesterday more than 60 American Robins showed up here at my home and some of them were in my Crabapple Trees eating the berries. Although there are fewer robins here today (Feb, 6) more of them are eating the crabapples and some are eating Mountain Ash fruit. California Quail are also eating Crabapples. It was very cold this morning and will likely remain below freezing all day even with sunshine. With 12 inches of snow on the ground the birds are eating anything they can find.

Between light and shadow, fear and peace, serenity and anguish. What is the secret of balancing a life? Questionable? The steps that we won, exceeding limits, overcoming difficulties, each with his own. The human element and nature, a dangerous contact?

So often color gets caught up in color, and it becomes merely decorative. Some photographers use it brilliantly to make visual statements combining color and content; otherwise it is empty :-)

A tiny parasitic wasp, photographed (with difficulty) while she sniffed around one of my solitary bee observation boxes. She's such a lovely colour, but definitely has a mischievous look about her. I think she could be Monodontomerus sp. (although I didn't get a clear enough shot of her hind leg, which would have a distinct single tooth, although I could see a hint of one in one of my images ... but now I know where to focus my camera next time!). If she is Monodontomerus, then I'm thinking possibly M. obscurus, as this seems to be the only species recorded in the limited places I've thought to check. Very grateful for any help if anyone is able to confirm or correct the ID.
After a very brief visit with Baron and having difficulty in determination my direction for the week, it's back to wildflowers, but preferably pretty simple, that is pretty and simple.
Let me start with this Carpobrotus edulis endemic to South Africa as are all ice plants. I really like this particular example: single blossom with multiple stems all 'round. Plain and simple.
Carpobrotus edulis is a ground-creeping plant with succulent leaves in the genus Carpobrotus, native to South Africa. Its common names include hottentot-fig, sour fig, ice plant or highway ice plant. Living in California where ice plants are one of the most popular plants planted by the state along many highways, and where this species has become naturalized, I understand "highway ice plant," but finding the basis for the other names ... that may take some time.
Carpobrotus edulis is a creeping, mat-forming succulent species. It grows year round, with individual shoot segments growing more than 1 m (3 ft) per year. It can grow to at least 50 m (165 ft) in diameter. The leaves - remember this is a succulent - are only very slightly curved and have serrated sides near the tips.
The yellow or light pink flowers are produced from April to October, and range from 6.4 to 15.2 centimetres (2+1⁄2 to 6 inches) in diameter. Two of the calyx lobes are longer, extending further than the petals. They open in the morning in bright sunlight and close at night. On one rare really overcast day at the Marina, I saw one open when I arrived at 9:30 and close at noon, out to lunch so to speak.
The fruit is multi-chambered, ripening from green to yellow. The aha! moment has come: The species is a member of the fig-marigold family, Aizoaceae, one of about 30 species in the genus Carpobrotus.
But hottentot? Those who know more about South Africa may find a clue here: The sour fig grows on coastal and inland slopes in South Africa from Namaqualand in the Northern Cape through the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape. It is often seen as a pioneer on disturbed sites.
I have difficulty distinguishing between Cassiar and Slate-colored. Based on Eric's comment and another review of distinguishing characteristics Cassiar and Slate-colored and recent review at ebird this is a"Dark-eyed Junco (cismontanus) Junco hyemalis cismontanus." The quotes are for how Cassiar are listed at ebird. I don't see the word "Cassiar" in a recent listing by ebird reviewer Ryan Merrill. Also at ebird Slate-colored is listed as "Dark-eyed Junco (Slate-colored/cismontanus) Junco hyemalis hyemalis/carolinensis/cismontanus." See here: ebird.org/pnw/view/checklist/S51953623
I listed this bird as Slate-colored at ebird but have update to Cassiar with this photo and will wait to see if a reviewer wants to change it. My checklist: ebird.org/view/checklist/S52009780

(Leptailurus serval) B28I8181 Masai Mara Triangle - Kenya
In North Africa, the serval is known only from Morocco and has been reintroduced in Tunisia, but is feared to be extinct in Algeria. It inhabits semi-arid areas and cork oak forests close to the Mediterranean Sea, but avoids rainforests and arid areas. It occurs in the Sahel, and is widespread in Southern Africa. It inhabits grasslands, moorlands and bamboo thickets at high altitudes up to 3,800 m (12,500 ft) on Mount Kilimanjaro. It prefers areas close to water bodies such as wetland and savanna, which provide cover such as reeds and tall grasses. In the East Sudanian Savanna, it was recorded in the transboundary Dinder–Alatash protected area complex during surveys between 2015 and 2018.
In Zambia's Luambe National Park, the population density was recorded as 0.1/km2 in 2011. In South Africa, the serval was recorded in Free State, eastern Northern Cape, and southern North West. In Namibia, it is present in Khaudum and Mudumu National Parks.
There were two major difficulties in making this photo: the tall grasses at this time in the Masai Mara and the very harsh midday light which creates a veil of heat - and which is a sore for all photographers.
You can hardly photograph a Serval at the start of the day because it waits until the grasses are dry to hunt rodents, birds or lizards.
However, I was already quite happy with this meeting, even with a photo of average quality.
I had a lot of difficulty with this theme. I found it challenging for lighting both coin and object and even more challenging for focus. I had a couple I liked more than this but discovered at the last minute that they were against the rules as the object (an earring) wasn't contained entirely on the coin with the ear wire spilling off the edge.
The coin is a British penny from 1882. My dad had a coin collection which he kept in a few plastic bags in a drawer. I never even knew he collected coins until I was going through his things after he passed away a few years ago.
Great difficulty with uploads last few days, but back home after nearly 900 miles of travelling. Fabulous holiday, this welsh poppy was taken from the birthplace of William Morgan who was responsible for translating the bible into welsh way back in 1588.
Thanks for stopping
Until the end of the Second World War, the village of Konau, located behind the Elbe dyke, belonged to the Lüneburg district. After the Second World War, due to the lack of a bridge over the Elbe and the associated supply difficulties, it was handed over to the Soviet occupation zone in July 1945 for practical reasons, and Konau subsequently became part of the GDR. Due to its location in the so-called protective strip of the GDR border, the village has retained the typical building style for the history of settlement on the Elbe to this day. After German reunification, Konau returned to Lower Saxony in the Lüneburg district.

The Overhanging Great Wall is an important part of the defense network of Jiayuguan (Jiayu Pass). It was built in the year 1539- 1540 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to strengthen the defensive capability of the Jiayuguan area.
Built on the eastern slope of Black Mountain, it is not visible to anyone looking from west to east. Enemies thought they could enter inner China from here, the Black Mountain Canyon, as long as they rounded the Jiayuguan Pass. However, they were totally mistaken. After they went over the mountain with great difficulty, they found a very firm barrier in their path that was impossible to cross.

This was taken (with some difficulty and several attempts) in a beautiful walled/irrigated garden (Plaza de Armas) of the Alcazaba Citadel, Málaga, Spain. One of so many features to explore in this magnificent treasure, the Alcazaba is the best preserved Moorish fortress Palace in Spain.
I fixed the iPhone 8 Plus (with Zeiss ExoLens (Wide-Angle) and Shoulderpod S1 (which also acts as a tripod attachment and I thoroughly recommend as a MUST in anyones smartphone kit, together with the Hisy remote trigger, links to both below.) to my Manfrotto tripod (with Manfrotto 391RC2 pan-head) which was fully extended. Sara had the Hisy remote and also acted as my guide. Surprisingly heavy and only takes about 10-20 seconds of holding this as still as possible above and away from you before needing a breather before the next attempt!! The channels in the walkways carries a seemingly endless babble of water.
This is a blend of two of the best shots I took, one fairly close to the fountain, and the other further up & away (which was cropped 15%?), done very quickly in Photoshop CC (could do better really but time is pressing) on Mac, then further edited in Snapseed on IPad Pro.

What better proof of the beauties of the Maremma Grossetana? This small beach, lonely and closed in a natural environment of great beauty where everything has remained uncontaminated for centuries and now preserved by the Bandite di Scarlino Park, on the Tyrrhenian sea in the province of Grosseto.
It takes its name from the tower that overlooks it from the top of the promontory, Torre Civette, built in the 16th century as a stronghold of the Principality of Piombino, strategically important for the view it managed to cover. Its appearance has been remodeled several times from the 18th to the 1900s and the farm with the tower is currently privately owned.
Without many preambles it is a pleasant and wild place as befits the coastal Maremma and represents one of the most solitary beaches in the province of Grosseto due to the difficulty of being able to reach it both by land, with a steep path, and by sea, fording the Alma stream in proximity of the mouth next to the beach of Punta Ala.
By the way, civette in English means owls...

There are several hiking trails within Abu Galum nature reserve.
A secluded national park located about 15km north of Dahab only accessible by boat or by foot.
One of the most stunning hikes is between Ras Abu Galum and the Blue Hole taking you alongside crystal clear water, via secluded beaches, stunning landscapes backed by mountains.
The trail is about 7.21 miles, with a maximum elevation of 144 ft and has an easy to moderate difficulty level. It usually takes two and a half hours to complete this hike and gives you fantastic views.

I always had difficulties to shot trees, especially in the forest, I find the result boring or messy and I really admired some photographers that can bring back masterpieces from the forest.
So I quite often try to take a picture that I like in the forest but mostly throw away everything after, but for once even I am quite happy with the result, there is still a lot of room for improvement but I feel OK to share it with you.
I hope that you will like it.

I always have difficulty identifying flycatcher species but I am pretty sure this is a Willow Flycatcher. I was photographing other species of songbirds when to my left I noticed this flycatcher land on a nice perch. I pivoted my monopod around 45 degrees, gained focus, and was able to click the shutter three times before the bird flew off. Not much time to work with him, and I would have liked to moved a little to the right so the frond was not obstructing the tail. Nonetheless. I do find the pastels and clean background to offset the frond in the lower third. Please view large for detail.

A little difficulty in capturing my awesome estate sale finds... the heads kept rolling away!
Everyone else at the estate sale was fighting to get to the complete dolls... and then there was me... I’m sure the guy I had to ask for prices for all the severed doll heads wondered about me... yes, for this... I’m going to be called “sick and twisted”... again! I did ask the estate sale guy.... "You're going to be talking about me tonight...aren't you?" He assured me that he has seen weirder things, and I bet that he has.
Oh, and.... that has become my dream job... working at an estate sale... and since I have really come to hate my present job, I just may pursue that!
You have faced so much harm, pain, despair, shame, difficulty, terror and suffering that living a life of growth, health, joy, and hope is unimaginable in your mind. And very slowly, over time, through God’s grace, some healthy relationships, a lot of very hard work, resources that are providing some healing and calming effects and an ability to begin to cope, learn and grow, you are starting to see some possibilities that were completely unimaginable before. Thank you for giving this a try even though you have no idea what this looks like, it is completely unfamiliar, complex, unclear and even scary—thank you.

I haven’t taken all that many pictures for a while. Monday evening as I was struggling I pushed myself to spend some time outside with my camera as a way to try to help myself cope. After a while I experimented with some in-camera double exposures and this is one of the double exposure photos I made of some roadside weeds at our home. It has been so long since I’ve been able to put any words with the photos I have taken. It was such a surprise that these words started forming in my mind as I was captivated by this image and kept looking at the colors, the texture, the blur, the beautiful mystery. I was thankful for this inspiring moment.

While visiting the Oregon coast earlier this spring, I came across a sea stack that looked like a shark fin. That day was very windy, so my wife and daughter stayed in the hotel room. By the time I reached the pull-out for the sea stack, the sun had already set, and the tide was rapidly rising. I had difficulty finding a good foreground because the beach was being flooded by large swells. Walking around, I saw a small patch of sand beside the road. The wind had blown away the bootprints, leaving intricate patterns in the sand. Due to the low light, I used a slower shutter speed, and the wind created interesting patterns in the ocean and grass.
