I had to pop out to the post office late this afternoon, and caught this bright combination of colours on Halifax Street.
Sometimes when you have a subject in mind you either think a lot or you just venture out to photograph the first thing you find. That happened to me today, because I was folding the bedding and these white folds gave me the idea. I used a ring light for this photo.
If sometimes you have no idea what kind of photo I am going to post, it's probably because I also have no idea what photo I am going to post, either. I usually decide about 15 seconds beforehand unless there's a birthday or Caturday post. Anyway, this was a reflection of the outside steps along the ceiling of the top floor of the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) and I thought ok I like that and can also relate to that. I feel like I don't post photos of my home city of Chicago as often as I should, either.
So...what does it actually mean to be defined by diagonals? There's an element of unpredictability here and perhaps of choice paralysis too....you are constantly caught between two simultaneous directions given the illusion of a shorter distance between points but only if you are brave enough to take it and can survive. So, you may end up feeling trapped with an illusion that you should be feeling more motivated with a clear direction.

This is the new 54,000 square metres large concert, congress and hotel complex in Malmö. The building consists of a composition of cubic volumes that are mutually twisted and given different sizes to meet the directions and building heights of the surrounding city. The façades are designed with a homogeneous expression to make the composition appear as one architectonic sculpture.
The new cultural centre becomes an open, expressive and dynamic building that is manifold in both its activities and its architecture. The point of departure for the building design is the modern Scandinavian architectural tradition with the clear functional organisation and the accessible and open ground floor lay-out. The building becomes the focal point and a landmark for Malmö – a place where the spirit of the city, the diversity and the intimacy is given an architectonic expression.
