Monica Negreiros Fall Collection 2011
~~~~~~
Do you remember when last year I mentioned that I was a judge on a Beauty Contest? Well, Maria Raquel was the winner and then later on she won the Nationals on that beauty contest. Then we met again for this photoshoot.
You need to understand.
She mostly exists out
Out of Time
Out of mind
Out of her mind.
But sometimes God exists
in time
a devouring beast
consuming everything
and concealing all
her helpful signs.
It's not about your sins.
She's merely insatiable.
I'm saying this
was revealed to me.
By her.
So, it must be so!
It looks like a white in color yet dreadful in sight monster !!! A shapeless ghost that devours everything in its pass, even entire villages !!!!
One of the things that I particularly enjoy with photoshooting, is that you can take down and in a way "immortalize" fabulous facts or scenes that otherwise would have practically and unfortunately gone unseen and forgotten ... Thank God this one didn't !!!
"Don't speak, no, don't try
It's been a secret for the longest time
Don't run (oh), no, don't hide
Been running from it for the longest time
So many mornings I woke up confused
In my dreams, I do anything I want to you
My emotions are naked, they're taking me out of my mind
Right now I'm shameless
Screamin' my lungs out for ya
Not afraid to face it
I need you more than I want to
Need you more than I want to
Show me you're shameless
Write it on my neck, why don't ya?
And I won't erase it
I need you more than I want to
Need you more than I want to" -Camila Cabello
Been in a doll coma most of the summer, so I forced myself to go out and take some photos before it's all over. I still have more sets planned but I don't know if I'll get to them in time.
It will devour all who are unworthy of its presence.
Thanks to buttloaf_builds for the edit!
Updated that little guy. Extremely stronger inner frame. Alignmentof the front dish corrected. Made him a nice beak. And managed to stuff him with lights :)
Rising up, erect and green
Filled with sap ready to stream
Down upon the waiting floor
That devours it all and calls for more
Throbbing gently in the breeze
Sending beauty to its knees
Under the hardness, erect and green
Filled with sap, ready to stream
Before destroying the Devourer, I thought I'd take pictures of the updated model and also finish the LDD file to share it!
So it's now available on my website!
Zeit vergeht...
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.
Etwas, das alles und jeden verschlingt:
Baum, der rauscht, Vogel, der singt,
frisst Eisen, zermalmt den härtesten Stein,
zerbeißt jedes Schwert, zerbricht jeden Schrein,
Schlägt Könige nieder, schleift ihren Palast,
trägt mächtigen Fels fort als leicht Last.
The golden-ringed dragonfly (Cordulegaster boltonii) is one of the largest insects in Sweden. I spotted this particular specimen together with my son on a trip to the Mjällådalen nature reserve near Härnösand, Sweden, and luckily for us it had caught a bumblebee and landed pretty much right in front of us on a leaf to eat it.
I initially took some gradually closer photos of it using the Canon 100 mm L IS Macro lens (like here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53923749905/) and to my surprise, it didn't fly away and just continued devouring the poor bumblebee (so much was already devoured that I am unable to tell the exact species).
When I considered myself "done" and having gotten the photos I wanted, Daniel however convinced me to switch to the Canon MP-E65mm lens and try for some real closeups. Since it would require me to be minimum 10.1 cm / 4" away from the dragon, I initially refused as I considered it impossible, but Daniel insisted and it turned out he was correct - it kept eating and I got some real closeups like this one at 2:1 magnification. It is also a two-exposure focus stack to bring ore of it into focus.
This species is the only one in Sweden belonging to the family Cordulegastridae and has a bit of a different face compared to the other species. Also, while the adult only flies for one summer, it has already spent four or five years as a larvae in the water before emerging.
A chance day to work with a wonderful person to produce some nice dystopian shots. Thank you to Devour and the location Home of Paine!
"I want more than that," she hissed flicking her tongue against her fangs.
"I don't want your just your body. I want you to sacrifice your soul."
I recently (months ago) picked up some more bootleg figs and was surprised to find that this Galactus knock-off wasn’t completely terrible, so naturally I had to make some posts with him and the rest of the gang! ;)
I've dispatched my parent, and consumed those born of my own seed.
Let the Golden Age begin: now I shall reign for eternity.
Built for the first round of Bio-Cup 2019.
My theme for this round is Saturn. The Roman god of the same name is an equivalent of a Greek chtonic deity Kronos (or Cronus) - the tyrannical leader of Titan race, god of time and harvest.
I attempted to build a rather dark interpretation of this character while retaining his classical attributes: scythe, sickle and hourglass.
It is not light that we need but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder; we need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake. (F. Douglass)
The Devourer was first spotted in the outer borders of M.A.N.T.I.S. territories, near planet Guinevere, sector A06. Not much is know about this vessel, but it seems to be some sort of symbiotic relation between the ship itself and a sort of tentacular creature. It attach to ships' hulls with the tentacles and fire energy weapons that cut deep inside its victims, through armourings and shields, vaporizing anything in its path. The creature then sucks and nourishes from the hot gaseous matter.
This is the reason why I usually feed the cats in separate rooms. If the weather permits Linus gets his breakfast outside on the terrace, Fynn eats in the living room and Cleo in the kitchen. Linus is a slow eater whereas Fynn devoures his breakfast as if he hasn't eaten for days. If I don't pay attention, Fynn then sneaks out, tells Linus that his breakfast is over and claims the rest of his meal for himself.
My take on the Great Devourer from Ninjago season 1.
I was sitting at a cafe by the Spanish sea today, sketching people... that guy was totally immersed in the reading of his newspaper, and the longer he read the bigger became his face, as if he really was devouring the news!
I am sitting in the Phoenix airport waiting for my overnight flight to Nova Scotia and reading a wonderful new book, H is for Hawk, by the British naturalist and writer, Helen MacDonald. The book, reminiscent of Annie Dillard's ground-breaking Pilgrim at Tinker Creek in 1975, is a memoir of the author's experience training a goshawk in modern-day London. It address many things including the ancient art of falconry, but especially the complex moral issues involved in taming wild birds, and the rights of some species to kill others.
I remembered taking photos of a hawk in my back yard in Hudson, Florida last spring and of being horrified later that day to see 'my" hawk snatch and devour a squirrel in front of my eyes. Here is one of those photos, with a more traditional profile of the same hawk in the comment box below.
Bonnie, if you read this.... you would love this book!
