This beautiful speciman was busy devouring a frog on a limb at Jungle Island. He was not intimidated at all by our presence as he became part of the annual bird count.
"Is it better to Out Monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?" ~Friedrich Nietzsche

As the day ends to rest
The sunset does its best
Setting on fire the lively waves
Colouring orange the nature he saves
its pure ancient glorious perfection.
The great ocean will receive
The burning sun who's going to leave.
Slowly comes the night
Devouring that magic light:
we are still suspended in a great delight.

Yesterday we walked along the coastline of the city of Santa Cruz. I had my camera and tripod with me, extra lens and filters in my pants pockets. We passed this person. Life is good.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a single RAW exposure. I took bracketed exposures, but used only one because it had more distinct colors, and because the darks make the scene pop.

Taken at Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge - Please help identify this insect - appears to be some sort of grass hopper.
From Speech Path Girl:
"....these and your hand-size grasshoppers are the same species: Romalea microptera, better known as the Eastern Lubber grasshopper. These are juveniles; they'll lose the black coloring after their final molt into adulthood."
Before destroying the Devourer, I thought I'd take pictures of the updated model and also finish the LDD file to share it!
So it's now available on my website!
The Devourer was first spotted in the outer borders of M.A.N.T.I.S. territories, near planet Guinevere, sector A06. Not much is know about this vessel, but it seems to be some sort of symbiotic relation between the ship itself and a sort of tentacular creature. It attach to ships' hulls with the tentacles and fire energy weapons that cut deep inside its victims, through armourings and shields, vaporizing anything in its path. The creature then sucks and nourishes from the hot gaseous matter.

~~~~~~
Do you remember when last year I mentioned that I was a judge on a Beauty Contest? Well, Maria Raquel was the winner and then later on she won the Nationals on that beauty contest. Then we met again for this photoshoot.
You need to understand.
She mostly exists out
Out of Time
Out of mind
Out of her mind.
But sometimes God exists
in time
a devouring beast
consuming everything
and concealing all
her helpful signs.
It's not about your sins.
She's merely insatiable.
I'm saying this
was revealed to me.
By her.
So, it must be so!
Been a while since I posted one of these "Om! Nom! Nom! Nom!" shots. :-) This is a White-faced Meadowhawk dragonfly (Sympetrum obtrusum) devouring its prey. Shot by a pond near the chalet we had rented for a short stay in Stoneham, north of Quebec City.
Usual suspects: Pentax D-FA 100mm F/2.8 Macro plus Raynox DCR-250, with off-camera diffused Yongnuo YN-560 III flash. Shot with the lens at or near infinity focus, which, with the Raynox, gives about 0.8:1 macro magnification. Significant crop (18MP out of a 24MP original).
It looks like a white in color yet dreadful in sight monster !!! A shapeless ghost that devours everything in its pass, even entire villages !!!!
One of the things that I particularly enjoy with photoshooting, is that you can take down and in a way "immortalize" fabulous facts or scenes that otherwise would have practically and unfortunately gone unseen and forgotten ... Thank God this one didn't !!!
