A female American Kestrel with partially eaten meadow Vole. I saw it catching the vole on the ground and then flew on to a nearby lamp post to devour the vole. After a while it flew around a few times to show its prize catch. Downsview Park. Toronto, Canada

En este paraje y en esta época es frecuente ver individuos de Orthetrum trinacria alimentarse con otras libélulas.
En este caso una hembra ha cazado a otra hembra de Diplacodes lefebvrii y la está devorando. Curioso que la víctima esté soltando la carga de huevos que llevaba.
En estos menesteres me dejó acercarme hasta conseguir que el fotograma no tenga ningún recorte.

Algún percance tuvo que sufrir este ejemplar de Orthetrum cancellatum para perder el abdomen y encaramarse a lo alto del palo.
En una ocasión vi como una avispa devoraba el abdomen de un ejemplar de la misma especie, después de caer al suelo y llevarla enganchada en su cuerpo.

This specimen of Orthetrum cancellatum had to suffer some mishap to lose its abdomen and climb to the top of the pole.
On one occasion I saw how a wasp devoured the abdomen of a specimen of the same species, after falling to the ground and carrying it hooked on its body.

Grey-headed Canary-flycatcher, Culicicapa ceylonensis, Sambar Kepala Kelabu
One of common Flycatchers that can be seen along forest trails and forest edges, usually in pairs. It can be seen chasing flying insects from a particular perch, capturing it in midair, and returning to the same perch to devour it.
Antara Sambar yang boleh dijumpai di kawasan pinggir hutan. Selalunya kelihatan menyambar serangga dan berulang ulang kembali ke dahan yang sama. Masalah mengambil gambarnya adalah kerana pergerakannya yang pantas, saiz yang kecil dan keadaan hutan yang gelap. Masa terbaik adalah apabila ia pegun seketika didahan setelah ia hinggap apabila selesai menyambar serangga.

I'm not exactly sure what is happening here but I'm guessing that the spider (which is laying upside down and covered in what looks like webs) was killed by something else and the ants just took advantage of a free meal. Photographed in Maryland today.
"Roughly translated, the word ‘Wendigo’ means ‘the evil spirit that devours mankind’. Another translation, said to be made by a German explorer around 1860, equates the word ‘Wendigo’ with ‘cannibal’. Wendigoag are said to have an insatiable hunger for human flesh - no matter how much flesh they eat, they remain hungry.
This hunger is reflected in their appearance, which, according to some, is extremely thin. Despite their gaunt physiques, Wendigoag are described by some as giants, measuring at about 4.5 m (14.8 feet) in height. Whilst there are slight variations as to the physical description of this creature amongst the different Algonquian peoples, it is generally agreed that Wendigoag have glowing eyes, long yellowed fangs and long tongues. Most Wendigoag are also said to have sallow and yellowish skin, though others say that they are matted with hair or have decaying skin."
