A personal project completed over a few months, based upon the bathroom from James Wan's 2004 horror flick Saw. These are initial renders (still under development), reasonably happy with the outcome but I believe they could still use some more work… Stay tuned!

What does ‘Earth’ mean to you?
The Western Australian Youth Theatre Company (WAYTCo), Yirra Yaakin Theatre and Filmbites youth film school join forces on April 3rd and 10th in a creative engagement with young people who like collaborative theatre techniques, scriptwriting and film to explore the meaning of the word ‘EARTH’. This single word, with it’s multitude of meanings, is the starting point in two three-hour sessions of creative interactions using performing arts techniques. This creative collaboration will inform WAYTCo’s production “Earth” late in 2011. These sessions are free to attend.
Both 3-hour sessions will be held at King St Arts Centre on Murray St central Perth starting at 5pm on a Sunday afternoon. Come to one or both Sunday sessions and be inspired. For more information visit waytco.wordpress.com or phone 92262144

Abstract – Decentralized targeting of agricultural credit in West Bengal: private vs. political intermediaries
This paper reports results from a field experiment conducted in rural West Bengal, India which compares alternative ways to delegate selection of beneficiaries for an agricultural credit program to members of the local community. Both appoint a local agent who recommends borrowers to be offered an individual liability loan, and is incentivized using commissions that depend on repayments. In one treatment (TRAIL) the agent is chosen randomly from local traders; in the other (GRAIL) the agent is appointed by the local government.
We find that TRAIL performed significantly better than GRAIL in terms of impacts on production of high value cash crops and farm incomes, achieved higher take-up and a similar repayment rate of 95%. Part of the superior performance of TRAIL was associated with selection of more productive farmers by the TRAIL agent. However most of the difference was accounted by different patterns of engagement of the agent with treated farmers which affected their productivity (while controlling for ability). The TRAIL agent tended to interact more intensively with more able farmers, helping them to increase their productivity. The GRAIL agent interacted more intensively with the less able farmers, mainly to lower their default risk which ended up lowering their productivity. The differences between TRAIL and GRAIL can be explained by the contrast between the private incentives of the former and the political incentives of the latter.

Karlu Karlu/Devils Marbles are of great cultural and spiritual significance to local Aboriginal people. Although Karlu Karlu is within country belonging to Alyawarre people, Kayteye, Warumunga and Warlpiri people also have spiritual connections and responsibilities for the area.
One of the main Dreaming stories for the area which can be told to the public relates to how Karlu Karlu was made. This tradition tells of 'Arrange', the Devil Man, who came from a hill nearby and travelled through the area. Whilst walking along, Arrange made a hair-string belt (a kind of traditional adornment, worn only by initiated men). As he was twirling the hair to make strings, he dropped clusters of hair on the ground.
The clusters turned into the big red boulders at Karlu Karlu that have become so famous today. On his way back to his hill, Arrange spat on the ground. His spit turned into the granite boulders in the central part of the reserve. Arrange finally returned to his place of origin, a hill called 'Ayleparrarntenhe' where he remains today.
