Tonight Chris and I decided to try developing our first set of film ever! The process started out a bit shaky, with me not even having a roll of film to develop. I thought I had put a roll of Kodak Tx Max B&W in my Canon FTb but it turned out I shot 36 blanks! No film in my camera! Yes I know, what an idiot. I can not even redeem myself from that one. Anyways, we decided I needed film to develop and randomly went through one in my apartment. But then... my FTb broke, yes, broke. It just seized up and would not work, would not wind film, just died. But not to fear, Chris was there. He had a Japanese knock-off of the M5 with him. Sorry, I can not remember the name of the camera. So we popped a cheap roll of lomography Lady Grey in and went wild. Then came time to develop. Taped bathroom window with black garbage bags and turned my bathroom into a temporary darkroom. Worked like a charm. Got my roll opened and wound up smoothly. Can not say the same for Chris, he had some issues with his roll. But we processed it anyways. Chemicals in...shake, shake, film out! It worked! We had successfully processed our own film. Some of Chris's got destroyed because of the winding-up issue, but besides that the process worked!
There is such great satisfaction in developing your own film. Its one thing to shoot digitally and have it printed and shoot film and go through the entire process of producing a picture. You are not "taking" a picture but rather "developing" one. You have got to try it to understand the power of film!

I love the wet analog darkroom! I have a passion for teaching the next generation the traditions of black and white silver gelatin printing.

The 16mm cine film Developing Tank appears unused
or if used has been cleaned meticulously.
The ORIGINAL box shows some signs of wear.
The Developing Tank is from Leningrad, Russian / USSR. It has a certificate.
It dates 18 VIII 1964. (That's 18th of August 1964)
The rubber pipes are in really good condition and not porous or brittle at all.
Quite amazing for this age. The Tank itself is almost scratch free, shining
and just looks fantastic. I do not know how to use it. And I am only selling
as I have course fees to pay, so it is a reluctant sale of an object I adore.
If you are interested in the Developing Tank then please see the
collection of youtube videos I made showing it from all angles
www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL000C1C02C698EBC3
(at the moment I have 8 or so individual short clips of the developing tank,
arranged in a playlist, please check through them on you tube)
You should be able to see how good it looks. I can re-film any aspect of it
if you are interested, so please just get in touch, with questions and suggestions.
I am uploading the youtube videos at the moment, so they may take an hour or
so before they link up correctly.
I hope you will love this item as I did.
check this page it lists lots of tanks for sale in the US and UK, mine is the cheapest: www.super8camera.com/netsearch.php?zoekterm=developing+ta...
