Developped a roll of Lomo Redscale XR from the summer recently, I quite like the results... although scanning them in with a digital camera does ruin the quality a little :(

Taken this morning in the rain, I liked the expression on this guy and the fact he was totally zeroed in on me.

I've been told that there are 4 owlets in this family, while I have'nt seen more than three at time, the three I saw today are less developed and I know there is one that is more developed that I didn't find.

I don't know how long they will hang around, they are already flying much better. This time last week they could hardly land on anything without 5 minutes of flapping to settle on a perch while now they settle very fast.

Developing some new scrolly stuff for the edges of the cover... new center image... (not yet updated in final version)....

Christopher Ansley has been developing the Starr Pass area since 1992, when his company, Signature Properties International, bought the original 1,000-acre site for around $15.5 million. The Toronto native got the city of Tucson to rename 22nd Street west of Interstate 10 as Starr Pass Boulevard - named for Richard Starr, who ran a stagecoach line through the property in the 1800s.

Built in 1986, the Starr Pass Golf Club sits on Sonoran Desert terrain and traverses canyon, ravines and desert washes. It played host to the PGA tour's Tucson Open from 1986 to 1996.

In 2005 Ansley opened the massive Jw Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa. The resort property includes 575 rooms, a 20,000-square-foot spa, an additional 9-hole Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, three swimming pools, lazy river, a water slide and 88,000 square feet of meeting space.

In 2011, Christopher Ansley's Starr Pass Resort Development defaulted on a $145 million loan recorded in August 2006. On Oct. 12, 2011 the lender U.S. Bank National Association notified Christopher Ansley of plans to initiate the foreclosure process. There was also a $20 million mezzanine loan from RFC CDO 2006-1 Ltd. Several public auctions of the resort have been canceled. The resort continues to operate under a court appointed receiver.

John Adams was the opening general manager of the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa. Adams is now Marriott's SVP, Global Operations Services. Alex Ahluwalia was the general manager from February 2007 – October 2013. He is currently the General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua. Alex Ahluwalia graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Russ Bond is the current general manager. He previously served as the General Manager at the the Renaissance Vinoy in St. Petersburg, for 14 years.

Phase One told me that Capture One Pro 6.3.5 doesn't support Pentax DNG-files. Only Adobe DNG 1.2 (whatever that is). So, these funny colours occure from the DNG-files from my Pentax K-01.

The images with a purple sky are DNG files. The normally looking images are JPEG's.

So, I am going to use Silkypix Pentax for my K-01 "RAW" files. I'm not very happy about this, because I don't really want more than one RAW converter. And Capture One (made by Phase One who also own Phase One, Mamiya and Leaf cameras) is (otherwise) a brilliant tool for converting and editing photographs.

Anybody know of a Pentax DNG to Adobe DNG file converter?

June 2014: I use Adobe Lightroom today - no problems supporting DNG's from the K-line or the 645D. I hate the user interface, though. I never really know what I'm doing or where my images are stored.

“Liesegang banding” developed in sandstone in the Mississippian of Ohio, USA.

Irregular, reddish or brownish or orangish-brown iron banding is commonly seen in many porous rocks, particularly sandstones and pebbly sandstones. These have been almost universally referred to as “Liesegang banding”, representing precipitation lines of iron-rich minerals (e.g., hematite, limonite, goethite, etc.) at & along groundwater chemical interfaces. But, according to Neil Wells of Kent State University, the original concept of Liesegang banding (Liesegang, 1896) does not match up with what is seen in the rock record (see Wells et al., 2003).

True Liesegang banding refers to parallel bands of precipitate formed by diffusion along a single chemical gradient during one event. What's seen in the rock record often consists of sets of irregularly concentric iron bands, with different sets of bands quite frequently oriented in different directions, and showing cross-cutting and dissolution of older sets. Iron banding in the rock record is clearly the result of numerous precipitation events over long periods of time by moving groundwater (Wells et al., 2003). Iron mineralization along these bands appears to be induced by the presence of either a redox interface (change from reducing to oxidizing conditions in the groundwater) or a pH interface (change in acidity).

Because Neil Wells is the first (apparently) to point out that what geologists have been calling Liesegang banding really isn’t, a renaming seems to be in order. It was jokingly suggested in 2003 that the iron banding discussed above be called “Wells Banding”. I’m all for that.

On December 8th, 2012 P4K and EPN launched the Farmers of the Future program officially in Gueriguinde. Both the Minister of Education and the Minister of Livestock participated in front of a huge crowd of 400! This program is being piloted in three schools in Libore, with the goal of changing the mindset of children about agriculture -- teaching them that it is a business not merely a way to subsist.

From September 15th to 19th the second of the four JCOM Masterclasses, educational programmes aimed at an international audience and held by international experts takes place. For the 20 selected participants this interactive course represents a unique opportunity to discuss the state-of-the-art of science exhibition development with particular focus on the possible different design approaches, helping participants to reflect on the relationship between the different media, contents and visitors' experience.
