Een nieuwe reeks enkelvoudige en dual decoders. De gebruikte chip is de AH3144 of de TLE4905L. Dit zijn unilolaire chips. De magneten moeten bijgevolg met de juiste polariteit aangebracht worden. De behuizing is voorzien voor Fischertechnik blokken. Kleine deksels zijn voorzien om de draden van de chips en plug te beschermen.
De dual decoder zijn voorzien voor quadrature decoding waardoor het aantal pulsen per schijf 4x groter wordt. De chips staan op de juiste afstand om een mooie 90 graden verschoven signaal tussen A en B te bekomen. Heb je ook een home punt nodig dan kun je hiervoor een extra enkelvoudige decoder blokje gebruiken.

1mW optical fiber detector is able to do visual tests of optical fiber, optical cable, and connector.
I know everyone has done this before. RFID and arduino that is. But looking at the example code it looks like the antenna is always in receive mode. I am not sure how this affects the life of the chip / reader but I thought of adding a way to detect human presence before activating the receiver.
I found some little IR heat detector (here: www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/IRD-10/INFRARED-... and tossed together some analog read code and viola. Now when the IR detector detects over a certain variable heat temp it activates the RFID reader.
I will post the code and write up on my blog.

Brookhaven National Lab invited both amateur and professional photographers to a three-hour, behind-the-scenes Photowalk of the laboratory on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012. Participants were able to visit and photograph five major experimental facilities that are not usually accessible to the public including the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) Tunnel, RHIC’s STAR Detector, RHIC’s PHENIX Detector, National Synchrotron Light Source, and National Synchrotron Light Source II.

Results from an excel data analyse of the sensor data of a high-speed moving object that come in focus and the flash light after the delay of the external shutter-lag time. The difference between flash light and triggerpoint give the delay. Here I have 70 scan lines at 50 usec/scan line or 3500 usec delay. Even the flash time (power) can be seen on this diagram. More flash power will give wider flash section.
At the triggerpoint the lasers are switched off. This give a very clear low level sensor signal. After the shuttter-lag delay the flashes are on and this give on all sensorlines a equal high level light. The duration of this light is show on this 3D diagram.
I use only 32 readout pixels/line at the centre of the ideal focus triggerpoint. Tomorrow I will give 64 pixels per line in order to better reflect the adjacent properties.
The aim of this presentation is to develop better algorithms for the detection.

Parts for the IR detector.
This detector can be inserted anywhere on the existing marble track. It has the dimensions for the Fischertechnik blocks. The detector works with an IR led and a photodiode as receiver. The 3D print housing is made in such a way that it shields the ambient light as much as possible. If necessary, an extra cover can be mounted afterwards on top. It has 5 mounting possibilities for optimal environmental suppression. The resistance values are given for 5V. If 9V is desired, the values can be increased slightly. The current values will also work at 9V but the current is higher. I use my regular 3 pin connection: output, VCC, GND. Because there is a pullup resistor you have to take into account that the output voltage will have the same value as the installed VCC. Therefore, do not use 9V where the output should be 5V max!
You have to be a little handy to solder the whole thing. The free space is a bit limited because of the shape.

Sue bought me this very very cool Acurite lightning detector off of Amazon. It arrived just in time for the severe storms that went through our area late last night & into the early morning hours. I left it on overnight & it counted 137 strikes. It has an indoor & outdoor setting & is very sensitive to interference from other devices such as your computer, cell phone, fluorescent lighting & microwave ovens. I had to move it several times as it tells you there is a problem.
It emits a low to medium volume beep (mutable) & a red light flashes for every time there is a strike within 25 miles which include cloud to cloud, cloud to ground & intra-cloud lightning. It may see further action later today as a cold front moves through.

In case anyone was interested in which I use. Its a yokogawa (same as GE, johnson controls, bacharach) H10X pro top gun. Made in USA, works great.

New setup for optical laser detection via line array sensor to take high speed pictures of insects in-flight.
This version is now tested and gives very good signals. The detector can see now at +/- 0.5mm depth the correct focus point. Detection time is now 68 us. Even very black object give enough signal on the photo line array.
