Here are detailed photos of the newly released Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set ($79.95), that I just got from my local Disney Store. I show the set boxed, and with the contents removed from the box, but still attached to the backing. I will debox the set this weekend. The accessory figures look really detailed and well done. In fact, I like Chip better in this set than the one with the new Classic Belle doll. Also the bluebird looks nicer than the one with the new Classic Snow White. Belle and Beast are in their winter outfits. Belle also has her blue peasant outfit and her yellow ball gown. Beast also has his formal outfit. Philippe is way too small, but is a very cute plush. I like this set way better than the ones for Aladdin or Sleeping Beauty.

Detailed photos of the Disney Parks Costume Ornaments that I purchased last Sunday, October 23, 2016. They are resin and have a heavy coating of glitter (except for the Anna ornament), which does shed. Each of them has the main gown or dress of a Disney character, and an accessory, separately hung from a metal hanger, which is in turn has a satin ribbon to hang it from a tree. They can also free stand, fairly stably. Evil Queen has the poison apple, Maleficent has her horns, Alice has a watch, Tinker Bell has her shoes (with real fluffy pom poms), Elsa has a snowflake, and Anna has her necklace. They are $22.95 each, and are also currently available on the US Disney Store website (except for Elsa).

Dubbed as “Snowflake”, Wilson Alwyn Bentley (1865-1931) was a pioneer in snowflake photomicrography. As a child he was fascinated by the natural world, and by the age of 19 he became the first to successfully capture a snowflake photograph with the help of a feather, a microscope and a camera. Bentley photographed thousands of individual snow crystals during his career, some of which we are showcasing in this Public Domain collection. This is shot at the same place than the one above just 180 deg turn. This place is full of prayerflags. Those prayerflages can be found at every holy/important place for tibetians. Behind you can get already a small glimpse of Yamdrok Tso.
The amount of detail the D800 is able to capture is really staggering! :)

Yet another photo of the sunrise over the New York City skyline.
Some of you may think that it looks just like my other sunrise picture, but if you compare the two they're actually pretty different.
The reason is in the way I edited the two images.
The other pic used HDR (high dynamic range), creating a very detailed and crisp image.
Today, I focused more on creating an almost surreal colored sky, the way one of my favorite photographers ( Sam Javanrouh of daily dose of imagery) does.
The result is a much darker and much differently colored image. Regardless of whether it's good or bad, it's is undeniably different.

After detailed research and a prolonged hunt, US Army WT85 was located at Gosford N.S.W. in October 2015.
'US Army WT85' - 'Protrude'/'Koolya' was a 45ft WW2 US Army wooden towboat.
Earlier vessel history can be viewed HERE
After several years of researchers trying to locate the Protrude it was with some considerable jubilation when we walked onto Gosford breakwall on 24th October 2015 and finally set eyes on this elusive but tough little boat.
From a historical perspective this vessel has assumed immense significance to the community of Tuncurry NSW.
US Army WT 85 is the last vessel still in service that was built by Wright Shipyards of Tuncurry NSW, one of Australia's leading wooden shipbuilding firms from the mid 1870's till the mid 1950's.
Wright Shipyards commenced building ships in 1867 with the construction of the schooner Caledonia by company founder, John Wright, and Alexander Croll at Boolambayte Creek near Bungwahl NSW. Wright moved to Tuncurry in 1875 and established shipyards and sawmilling operations. He was the first white settler in Tuncurry with John Wright's son Ernest, the first non-indigenous child born in Tuncurry, taking over the shipyards following the death of his father in 1910.
After the United States declared war in December 1941, the US Army let contracts to various shipyards across Australia to build specialized vessels for the war effort. With construction of steel ships by this time more dominant these wooden towboat contracts were a lifeline to the struggling shipbuilding firm with Wright Shipyards securing a contract to build 45', 66' and 85' wooden boats with five 45' boats similar to the US Army WT 85 pictured above built and launched by Wright Shipyards in the period 1943-44.
This vessel, US Army WT 85, later known Koolya and later still Protrude, was most likely launched on 7th July 1944 and taken out over the Tuncurry - Forster bar by the harbour boat, Eldorado on 24th July 1944 where it was handed over to US Army WT 68 to be towed to Sydney or Newcastle for its final fit out. The Eldorado was a fishing boat owned by Jimmy Nicholson and was appointed as the port duty boat during the war years.
US Army WT 85 is the last of the five WT 85 Class tow boats built by Ernest Wright Shipyards to be still afloat and, more significantly, possibly the last surviving Wright Shipyards built boat. The vessel is currently undergoing restoration by Matt Palmer (2020) and is moored in Pittwater.
In January (tbc) 2013 the vessel, then moored in Blackwall Bay near Ettalong, sank on its mooring.
A salvage company successfully refloated the US Army WT 85 (Protrude) and it was moved to Gosford Breakwall where it remained until attempts were made to restore her.
Wright Shipyards became quite busy fulfilling shipbuilding contracts during WW 2 and this continued into 1946 when Ernest Wright commenced construction of what was to become the shipping company's last major vessel, the Santa Cruz/Norfolk Whaler (120 ft long & 2017.5 gross tons).
Unfortunately Ernest Wright did not live to see his company's last major vessel launched, passing away in that year.
A lingering eight years after construction had commenced, Ernest's son John Wright Junior, finally launched the Santa Cruz/Norfolk Whaler in 1954; with the viability of the shipyards by now in question he closed the shipyards shortly after - thus ending a proud 87 year Wright family shipbuilding dynasty in Tuncurry NSW.
Among many other achievements, the company achieving the record for building the largest wooden ship in NSW to ever see service. That vessel was the Uralba (154.8 ft & 603 gross tons) which was launched at Tuncurry in September 1941.
While the US Army WT 85 - Protrude may not have been a vessel of the huge size of the 'Uralba' its significance is nevertheless historically important as it reflects the massive contribution made to the war effort and the fact that it is the last floating operational vessel built by the Wrights.
The Tuncurry community may hopefully one day see the last surviving remnant of a once proud shipbuilding tradition returned to its birthplace.

The Lady Tremaine Disney Film Collection 11'' Doll has been fully deboxed. She is standing, supported by a Kaiser doll stand. She has her hat on.
Detailed photos of the Disney Store's Lady Tremaine doll, just released online on in stores on Monday, January 26, 2015. She was purchased at my local Disney Store, for $34.95. She has a black plastic hat. Her outfit is black and green. The bodice glitter covered (which does shed). Attached to it is a floor length overskirt is attached, that opens in the front to act like a cape attached to the waist. It is made of satin covered by sheer organza with floral decorations. Under the overskirt she is wearing a tightly fitted black velvet skirt, that is almost like pants except that there is only one opening. There was tissue paper around her legs, which I left alone because I didn't want to completely undress her at this time. She has high heeled black boots and black satin gloves. She has the old style rubber legs, with internal knee joints and fixed angled feet. Overall, she reminds me of the Wicked Witch of the West. Her face is painted very well and is lifelike. Her red hair is styled with a good deal of hair product, so it is very stiff all over. Her outfit was a bit crooked, which I might be able to fix if I undressed her and redressed her again.

Detailed photos of the Disney Film collection Belle Doll, from the live action Beauty and the Beast film. She is 11.5 inches tall, has golden heels, is wearing a glittering yellow ball gown with satin under skirt and tulle petticoat. It is very full and floor length. She has the 2012 style Disney Princess body, with hinge jointed knees and ball jointed ankles. My doll came severely bow legged, so I put a clear rubber band around her knees to keep her legs together after deboxing.
I show her boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed.

Volvo P1800
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The Volvo P1800 is a two-door, two-passenger, front-engine, rear-drive sports car manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars as a coupe (1961-73) and shooting-brake (1972-73).
While the P1800 was more of a stylish touring car rather than a sports car when it came to its speed capabilities, the P1800 first became popular when it was featured as the main car driven by Roger Moore in the hit television series The Saint which aired from 1962-1969.
The P1800 featured styling by Pietro Frua and mechanicals derived from Volvo's Amazon/122 series."
In 1998, a P1800 was certified as the highest mileage private vehicle driven by the original owner in non-commercial service — having exceeded three million miles (over 4.8 million km) as of 2013."
(...)
"The project was originally started in 1957 because Volvo wanted a sports car to compete in the US & European markets, despite the fact that their previous attempt, the P1900, had failed to take off with only 68 cars sold.
The man behind the project was an engineering consultant to Volvo, Helmer Petterson, who in the 1940s was responsible for the Volvo PV444.
The design work was done by Helmer's son Pelle Petterson, who worked at Pietro Frua at that time. Volvo insisted it was an Italian design by Frua and only in 2009 officially recognized that Pelle Petterson designed it.
The Italian Carrozzeria Pietro Frua design firm (then a recently acquired subsidiary of Ghia) built the first three prototypes between September 1957 and early 1958, (...)"
- P1800
"The engine was the B18 (B for the Swedish word for gasoline: Bensin; 18 for 1800 cc displacement) with dual SU carburettors, producing 100 hp (75 kW). This variant (named B18B) had a higher compression ratio than the slightly less powerful twin-carb B18D used in the contemporary Amazon 122S, as well as a different camshaft.(..."
- 1800S
"As time progressed, Jensen had problems with quality control, so the contract was ended early after 6,000 cars had been built.
In 1963 production was moved to Volvo's Lundby Plant in Gothenburg and the car's name was changed to 1800S (S standing for Sverige, or in English : Sweden).
The engine was improved with an additional 8 hp (6 kW). In 1966 the four-cylinder engine was updated to 115 PS (85 kW). Top speed was 175 km/h (109 mph).
In 1969 the B18 engine was replaced with the 2-litre B20B variant of the B20 giving 118 bhp (89 kW), though it kept the designation 1800S."
- 1800E
"For 1970 numerous changes came with the fuel-injected 1800E, which had the B20E engine with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection and a revised camshaft, and produced 130 bhp (97 kW) without sacrificing fuel economy.
Top speed was around 190 km/h (118 mph) and acceleration from 0–100 km/h (0–62.1 mph) took 9.5 seconds.
In addition, the 1970 model was the first 1800 with four-wheel disc brakes; until then the 1800 series had front discs and rear drums."
- 1800ES
"Volvo introduced its final P1800 variant, the 1800ES, in 1972 as a two-door station wagon with a frameless, all-glass tailgate.
The final design was chosen after two prototypes had been built by Sergio Coggiola and Pietro Frua.
Frua's prototype, Raketen ("the Rocket", on the right), is located in the Volvo Museum.
Both Italian prototypes were considered too futuristic, and instead in-house designer Jan Wilsgaard's proposal was accepted.
The ES engine was downgraded to 125 bhp (92 kW) by reducing the compression ratio with a thicker head gasket (engine variant B20F); although maximum power was slightly down the engine was less "peaky" and the car's on-the-road performance was actually improved.
The ES's rear backrest folded down to create a long flat loading area. As an alternative to the usual four-speed plus overdrive manual transmission, a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic was available in the 1800ES.
With stricter American safety and emissions standards looming for 1974, Volvo did not see fit to spend the considerable amount that would be necessary to redesign the small-volume 1800 ES.
Only 8,077 examples of the ES were built in its two model years."

Wedding Jasmine has now been fully deboxed. She is standing, supported by the included doll stand. Her skirt and veil are fully extended.
Detailed photos of my Limited Edition Aladdin and Jasmine 17'' Wedding Doll Set. I received it from the Disney Store on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. It arrived in perfect condition. I show the set boxed, during deboxing, and completely deboxed. My set is #155 of 250. The shipping carton was labeled at Cart #005, so the actual edition number was offset by 150.
Their outfits are very beautiful. Their colors are coordinated, being white and gold. I placed the jeweled and feathered turban on Aladdin for most of the shots. Aladdin can free stand, as is usual for male dolls, but he isn't that stable, so I used the included stand for most of the shots. Aladdin is fully articulated, as with all the LE 17'' male dolls since Eric in 2013. So he has ball jointed elbow, wrist and ankle joints, and hinged knee joints.
Jasmine had the usual problem of her massive hair pulling her backwards in her display stand, so it was hard to make her stand up straight when her hair was behind her. So for the final photos of her with Aladdin, I draped her hair partly over her shoulder, so she would be more balanced. As with the Wedding Cinderella doll, there are an incredible number of gems in Jasmine's dress, especially in the golden embroidery at the hem of her skirt. The gems are gold and clear, and are of varying sizes.
They are listed as 17'' H, but Aladdin is actually 18'' H, and Jasmine is 16.5'' H.

Here are detailed photos of the items that I purchased for myself at Disneyland today.
Disneyland Rocket Ship Small Figure ($21.95). Based on the Moonliner Rocket that was part of the Rocket to the Moon attraction that opened in 1955 in Disneyland. The current Moonliner rocket in front of the Pizza Port restaurant is a scaled down version of the original Moonliner.
Anna Doll Dress Set ($12.95). Contains Coronation gown, necklace with pendant, hair ribbons, black high heeled shoes, and an Olaf figure. The gown is more detailed than the one on the Disney Store Coronation Anna dolls.
DL60 Lightup Castle Ornament ($26.95). A resin ornament of the 60th Anniversary version of Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It lights up in alternating white and blue lights, with included batteries. It includes a silver satin ribbon to hang up the ornament. It also has rubber foot pads to support it when placed on a flat surface.
My 2015 LE Anna 17'' doll has been fully deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by the included doll stand.
Detailed photos of the my Limited Edition Anna 17'' Doll. She was purchased at my local Disney Store on release day, March 3, 2015. She is #0962 of 5000.
She is in the green outfit she wears at the ending scenes of the movie. It is the same outfit as the skating outfit, except that there are ice skating blades added to her boots. Her outfit has a grayish green satin bodice that has has jewels in its border. Under that is a sheer blue organza blouse, which has heart shaped clasps in the collar. The most impressive part of her outfit is her olive green felt skirt, that is jeweled and has rosemaling on along the hemline. The green satin hem is also jeweled. The skirt has a pleated panel in the front and the back, that when expanded makes the skirt much wider. Underneath is a thin tulle petticoat, that isn't stiff enough to help keep the skirt full. She has no underwear except for the painted on panties. She has light olive green boots, with the same embossed pattern as the boots of the Snow Gear Anna dolls. The entrance to Arendelle Castle is the background image in the box.
She has shiny pearly skin, but otherwise has a normal skin tone. She has dual braids similar to the LE Snow Gear Anna doll, but the braids are thicker and they have the addition of tinsel to make them sparkle. The tinsel consists of copper foil coiled around a black thread. On my doll a considerable amount of the tinsel has separated from the top of her hairdo, and makes her hair look messy or frizzy.
This doll is by far my favorite of all the Frozen LE dolls in this release.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan, day 6 of our Cosmos tour, October 5, 2012. We arrived late in the afternoon so didn't see all I wanted to see as we left very early the next morning. So not many good shots as it was too late in the day!
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the oldest shopping mall in Italy. Housed within a four-storey double arcade in central Milan, the Galleria is named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy.
The structure consists of two glass-vaulted arcades intersecting in an octagon covering the street connecting Piazza del Duomo to Piazza della Scala. The street is covered by an arching glass and cast iron roof, a popular design for 19th-century arcades, such as the Burlington Arcade in London, which was the prototype for larger glazed shopping arcades, beginning with the Saint-Hubert Gallery in Brussels (opened in 1847), the Passazh in St Petersburg (opened in 1848), the Galleria Umberto I in Naples (opened in 1890) and the Budapest Galleria.
The central octagonal space is topped with a glass dome. The Milanese Galleria was larger in scale than its predecessors and was an important step in the evolution of the modern glazed and enclosed shopping mall, of which it was the direct progenitor. It has inspired the use of the term galleria for many other shopping arcades and malls.
In the central mosaic, there is a depiction of the bull from Turin Coat of Arms. The tradition tells that if a person put its right heel on the bull's genitals and turn on himself three times, this will bring good luck. This practice causes damage to the mosaic: a hole developed on the place of the bull's genitals.
The Galleria connects two of Milan's most famous landmarks: The Duomo and the Teatro Alla Scala, but the Galleria is a landmark in its own right.
