once a year the officials of NYC display this tribute light where the World trade center use to stand, the weather is bad .. but that won't stop me from capturing this 1 night opportunity , and the fog actually help illuminate more glow from the city which is really cool.

Alien art
My picture above is showing that an alien bird is picking up a leaf.
Development of some aliens from an animal stage to a developed stage ( at tree of life) might take very long time or the expected development might not happen at all if some components don't come together.
The environment, the world they are in, might not be very rich for the development of the aliens, and/or biological development might head in a very different direction. Their "tree of life" might not have proper branches for a progressive development. The tree would be weak, like a tree in a desert.
For a chemical reaction, we have to have specific atoms. We need substances to create other substances. For reactions to happen, we have to have some conditions present at the place where the reaction should happen.
Already developed aliens would be the lucky ones, passing all hurdles. When we consider the existence of billions of stars, planets and a lot of different places within planets in our universe, the probability would be very hight to be lucky for some aliens.
Another issue is that we might not see any alien at all because of the distance between stars and galaxies. Non of us ( we and aliens ) might reach the very high development to create very high technology to fly that far ( the distance between galaxies getting more in each day, expanding universe ) before our universe collapse, before the black holes pull the galaxies, before the stars of the planets explode, before the artificial intelligence takes over ( AI doesn’t need to be conscious and alive, and doesn’t need to have feelings and emotions. it can survive on its own if it is programmed properly ), etc.
Al might be the biggest threat to humans and aliens, it could wipe out them very easily. The creation of very destructive Al is possible when we consider how much hatred there are in our world between nations, races and between the people with different religions.

This tree trunk with its textured bark, lying on the beach, attracted my attention yesterday.

As you get closer to a fire like this, something inside of you screams to turn around.
This is a forest fire in Colorado in 2012. It was over 50 miles away as I took this picture through a dark window while driving.
The Waldo Canyon Fire was briefly the most destructive in Colorado's history, until the Black Forest burned over 1000 homes in a week the following year. In this picture, the Waldo Canyon had been burning for about a week.
Weather can be devastating and destructive...but also stunningly beautiful. Yesterday's chase started southeast of Globe, took us down to exploding storms near Safford and finally to this spot at the Marsh Station overpass where a huge outflow boundary created a big line of cells and one of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen. The bolts were in many directions and it was hard to focus on one area. You can go to my FB page Mike Olbinski Photography to see the live video I did from last night to see how it truly looked.
I went to the middle of this overpass where I've been many times...the time-lapse looking straight down Interstate 10 with the sunset explosion and lightning everywhere is gonna be one of my favs from the summer.
Great having my kiddos along, plus teaming up with my buddy John Sirlin....we've had a two solid chase days together this week and seen two gorgeous sunsets along with fantastic lightning
Macro Mondays – My Favourite Novel (Fiction), Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh.
The first novel by Scottish writer Irvine Welsh, Trainspotting was first published in 1993 and takes the form of a collection of short stories, written in either Scots, Scottish English or British English, revolving around various residents of Leith, Edinburgh who either use heroin, are friends of the core group of heroin users, or engage in destructive activities that are implicitly portrayed as addictions that serve the same function as heroin addiction. The novel is set in the late 1980s and has been called "the voice of punk, grown up, grown wiser and grown eloquent".
The novel has since achieved a cult status, added to by the global success of the film based on it, Trainspotting (1996), directed by Danny Boyle.

Typhoon koppu was the most destructive ever. It has caused 58 lives, not much, but the damage to agricultural land and harvest and landslides were too much for everybody.. Vast towns were flooded and up to now, there are a few towns under water. Today, the sun came up the very first time. I made the shot with my macro lens at Sidcor. Market. My wife could not walk because of her sore right knee.. Thanks to those who view, comment and fave my photo.

Ireland is undoubtedly a country associated with beer, and among all those produced on the island, the most famous internationally is without any doubt the one that bears the surname of Sir Arthur Guinness, who was its creator in the year 1759. Nowadays, its brewery located in Dublin is one of the most modern in the world, and can produce 3 million pints of this stout per day. Its flavor does not leave anyone indifferent, and even if it is not true, an Irish joke says that the beer is made with water from the nearby river Liffey.
Although you can enjoy a Guinness in any Irish pub, a different option is to go to the Guinness Storehouse to visit the museum that shows its history and production. The tour ends with a pint of the dark elixir in a bar located in the last floor of the building from which you have a magnificent view of Dublin.
Both my girlfriend and I avoid alcohol for most of the year, and we always advise consuming it in moderation. Still, we did not want to miss the opportunity to show this famous place in Dublin with our particular artistic touch.

This is some of the destructive nature of an Ice-Storm. The full size--I believe a small leaf maple--tree I heard from across the street actually split in half in a very loud icy crash missing a small house and the house in this photographs background. (the house in background is a pot store, if your wondering about the green neon pot leaf sign in the houses window. Pot here in Oregon is legal for medical, and also recreational use.) Anyway, surprisingly, and luckily both dwellings had no human injury's! The snow in the photo is from the next storm that came in after the mentioned Ice storm.

The sculptor of this iconic statue of the 16th President of the United States of America, was none other than Daniel Chester French. The subject, described as someone made up of both "steel and velvet" by biographer Carl Sandburg, emanates that description. He seems to gaze on the Washington monument as if ever wondering if he had lived up to the mantle the “Father of the Country” passed down.
I am always fascinated by the fact that, Jefferson, chief author of the Declaration of Independence; Lincoln, who fiercely held the Union together during its bloody and destructive Civil War; the contemporary occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue; and, the Congress of the United States all face the obelisk monument to George Washington simultaneously. I believe it serves as a permanent reminder of Washington's preeminence not just in position, but in action, temperment, and deed, as the man who set the standard for leadership of this great nation.
No, I don't know why Linnaeus presumably gave this Papilio its specific name 'demoleus'. Demoleus was a Greek soldier in the famous siege of Troy who was killed by Aeneas, that hero of Troy, sung by great Vergil. Aeneas then took his armor and gave it as a second prize to Mnestheus (incidentally, there's also a Skipper Butterfly called Mnestheus) at the Sicilian Games which he later organised.
Anyway... This marvelous Swallowtail Butterfly makes its home in the fine Butterfly House of the new Botanic Gardens of Utrecht University. It's called a Lime Butterfly because it favors those citrus trees and it is often seen as an invasive, destructive pest. Here in this glasshouse it does no harm and delights its observers! One of whom went home to a delightful rereading of a part of the Aeneid...

Noisy, colourful, slightly destructive and bloomin' hard to get a decent shot of as they are always so high up in the trees! On this occasion my 100-400 was not with me...oh well!! As good as it gets with a 55-200 and a huge crop 😁
Some critters I enjoy seeing in the yard, and some I do not. This is one that I do not wish to see! They are very destructive, dig huge holes in the ground etc. However, when he is right here.... as in only about 6 feet from me, the squirrels disappear and my bird feeders are temporarily safe. :) They say there is good in everything! LOL
Fire can be terrifying, especially when it's out of control. As an Australian, from a country where bushfires are unfortunately frequent and destructive, I have a real and justified fear of fire.
And yet, I also can't help but be captivated by the Shawn Colvin song 'Sunny Came Home', a deceptively light and pretty-sounding song that is essentially a dark murder ballad about a female arsonist who comes home after some time away (possibly in prison, or worse) with a vengeance, intending to commit devastating acts of arson against those who she perceives to have wronged her.
As abhorrent as I find the notion of vengeance to be, and as much as I fear fire, a part of me is nonetheless drawn to this song about Sunny. Arson is primarily a male domain, and female arsonists are very rare, making this song fascinating from a psychological perspective. Clearly, Sunny isn't simply obsessed with fire or with the burning of random things for fun; for her, her intended arson spree is personal, and though we are not sure if the wrongs she thinks were committed against her by others are real or imagined, what she's about to do is about as real and serious as things can get.
Kids, though, don't try this at home!
On a personal note, I actually had a lot of fun setting my Second Life building platform on fire to take this picture. But don't worry, fire extinguishers were on hand, and the fire was put out again without any real damage being done. Sadly, though, no handsome firemen were in attendance. I really should have planned that part better, huh?

A destructive little beetle, they can kill an Ash tree if left unchecked.
They are not native to the U.S. and were most likely brought over from Asia in shipping crates.
They were not identified in the U.S. until 2002 and first seen in Canto, Michigan. Now you can find them scattered in areas as far as Colorado and as far south as Louisiana.
If I had known what this was and how destructive they are, I might have crushed his little head!
After photo session in the churchyard we return back to the Cathedral and there we meet the real Hodge!!!! Unbelievable! To our disappointment Hodge doesn't even look at us...
Here you can read what the Very Reverend Andrew Nunn, Dean of Southwark writes the following as they welcomed Hodge the new Cathedral cat:
It was a very strange day when Doorkins, the Southwark Cathedral cat died. We had been talking for a while about whether or not we should have another cat. On a practical level we needed help with keeping the number of mice and rats down. Situated where we are, between the river and the market you can imagine that at times the place resembles Hamelin rather than London! But on an emotional level we all missed having a little cat about the place. But where would we get a cat from? Doorkins had just arrived and that was part of her charm and part of the power of her story that worked on so many levels for so many people.
One of the things that Doorkins had managed to do whilst she was with us was support Catcuddles Sanctuary. They are a local charity who say of themselves
Catcuddles is a registered charity that is all about promoting and strengthening the feline-human bond and helping pair up unwanted cats with loving forever homes and humans.
Lots of people very generously brought loads of food and treats in for Doorkins, more than she could reasonably eat. So she shared the surplus with Catcuddles. It was to them that we therefore turned to help us find a rescue cat that was looking for a ‘loving forever home’.
They came back to us eventually with a suggestion, a little boy cat, aged we believe between 5-8 years old and looking for love and a place of safety. It was agreed that he should see if he liked us and we should see if we liked him. So the arrangement was made and the trial date set. It turned out to be the very day that Doorkins died that Hodge arrived into our lives – and we love him and he loves us.
For the past couple of months Hodge has been getting acquainted with us and his new home. He has a voracious appetite both for food and love. He is either waiting for more food or rolling on his back inviting tickles on his tummy. Leave the brocade vestments uncovered and his is immediately onto them enjoying the feel of expensive fabric! Everyone who comes in is immediarely smitten; he is adorable.
Sunday 6 December marks the Feast of St Nicholas, the giver of good gifts, Hodge made his debut and was introduced to the congregation. Let’s hope he likes them as much as likes the vergers.
One of the features of this pandemic is the increasing number of people who have had to escape abusive, destructive, damaging relationships and situations. Places of refuge, sanctuaries are vital as are those forever homes where you know you can be loved and where you can be safe. The church prides itself on being a sanctuary but too often we have not been a safe place. Whether in terms of safeguarding, whether as places where homophobic attitudes, where sexism and elitism are allowed to flourish, where abuse can sometimes go unrecognised, challenged or unchecked, I hope that Hodge will help us to tell a better story.
The text I return to so often are those verses from St Matthew’s Gospel, so familiar and so powerful.
‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’ (Matthew 11.28-30)
We open our hearts, we open our homes, we create places of love and safety for cats and humans! God has opened the divine, gentle, humble heart of love to us.
Loving God, embrace us, hold us, in your place of safety, in your love, that your house may be our forever home. Amen.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

The snow that looks so beautiful now was very destructive. It was probably the heaviest snow I've ever felt, almost like concrete, and it snapped branches and trees with ease.
Last night, as it was ending, we ventured out to observe what was going on after hearing noises from outside. What we found was a mass of broken tree limbs and the sound of snapping branches in the distance.

This is back from July of this year when I went to Michigan Central Station while it was pouring outside. I felt it would make a nice addition to the collection. I made a fatal mistake in photoshop, saved it, and then slapped myself in the face for doing something so stupid. I finally got back to finishing it today! It's not my favorite shot of the place, but I had to do something with it!
The elevator house is located on the 18th floor of the trainstation. It’s really interesting during sunrise as the light shoots through the room, especially if the ground is soaked to make a good reflection. This area was probably a goldmine to scrappers with all the copper wire used to wind the gigantic elevator motors. Bullet holes have ravaged the HVAC system and are most likely the effect of a bunch of bored destructive kids. Oh yea, and by kids, I mean 20 year old, scrawny, bored, total douche bag, immature, white kids.

These little things are very destructive if you have pretty flowers, but, while they kill 'em they sure are cute!

The water buffalo, also called the domestic water buffalo or Asian water buffalo, is a large bovid originating in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Today, it is also found in Europe, Australia, North America, South America and some African countries.
They were imported in the Nineteenth Century to supply meat to remote Northern settlements. The buffalo and the settlements were ultimately abandoned in 1949.

On November 8, 2018, at 6:30 AM, a major wildfire, the Camp Fire, destroyed most of Paradise and much of the adjacent Magalia, Butte Creek Canyon, and Concow communities in northern California. It burned over 31 square miles, killed 86 people, and displaced tens of thousands of people. 18,804 buildings were destroyed. It was the deadliest and most destructive fire in California history. Cleanup will take several years and involves 11,000 properties. Paradise's water supply was severely contaminated with the carcinogen, Benzene, caused by its fire-damaged water systems. It will take at least 2 years before all the pipes are replaced and the water will be safe to drink again.
My sister's house in Magalia was spared, but the fire did come up to her back fence. She lost her job at Paradise Hospital due to fire damage. The hospital will probably never be reopened. Many of her friends lost their jobs and their houses. Her tale of escape from the fast-moving flames is flat out harrowing. She spoke of severe traffic jams, melted cars, black skies, and severe panic. But she also saw many brave people who did unbelievably heroic things in the face of death...
Shane Grammer, a former graffiti artist, painted murals on the remnants of abandoned houses and burned out cars in a tribute to the community that has lost almost everything. One of his murals is in my art piece.
The community is slowly being stitched back together.

there is war in my country. Ugly, deceitful, destructive. Our homes, taking the lives of our children, husbands, mothers, brothers, fathers and animals. We are grateful to the world for the help and support that it gives. But now we need you to protect our sky. Because they kill, bomb the civilian population, they destroyed houses, maternity hospitals, children's hospitals and houses. They do not give a green corridor and shoot those who leave to escape. This is a new ugly reality in which we live because of one sick person.
