Destination is high-end luxury travel, arts and lifestyle magazine. It is catered for the unconventional luxury traveler who has toured the world twice and is bored of the regular site-seeing areas and expensive hotel bars. Our readers relish the ideology and adventure of a backpacker, being able to seek both truth and beauty in the world around him.
I have approached this article with the feel of a black and white photography book. The text is succinct yet powerful and meaningful enough to complement the paint of the photograph. By only allowing subtle shades of grey. I drive my readers away from the distraction of colour. I focus on emotions and feelings, giving much room for the mind to wonder, gently coaxing my readers on a journey, which only they themselves have the ability to turn into a reality.
This image was captured at Journey To Bethlehem at Racine Christian Church. I was a guide along with providing for the social media team. I got to capture so many great memories and awesome moments, but this was definitely one of my favorite photos of the event. I think this photo communicates the feeling of a long journey the excitement that comes with it. ;)
Once again, another Birchwood with two destinations, this is the preferred, as it replaced the 22 and 29 via Hartsholme.
One thing I'm really enjoying about the #52HikeChallenge challenge is how it's encouraged me to consider hiking options closer to home. That in turn has created opportunity for me to examine my own relationship with hiking in general.
Typically hiking (for me) includes a long-ish drive to someplace far-ish away. I enjoy the sense of "getting away" - but for something that is so important in my life (hiking) it is of benefit to look closer to home to partake in this activity.
And, as the weeks tick by and the weekends prove busy with other chores and responsibilities I've felt compelled to get a little creative by squeezing in quick hikes on my lunch break during the week or going to explore nearby state parks in between other commitments on the weekend.
Earlier this week I visited Illahee State Park. For a short trail, the steep forest path gives a surprisingly good little workout. I neglected to bring a rain coat or umbrella - and although my hike started out sunny, sunshine quickly gave way to rain. I took a break down by the water - under a picnic shelter - hoping the spring shower would pass. Alas, the clock dictated I make the hike back to the upper portion of the park while dodging raindrops.
In forcing myself to hike closer to home I've found truth in the message: it's the journey that matters not the destination.
