The 1970 Huascarán debris avalanche occurred on May 31, when a debris avalanche and mudflow triggered by the Ancash earthquake destroyed the Peruvian town of Yungay and ten nearby villages, leaving up to 18,000 people dead. It is the most deadly avalanche or glacier-related disaster in history and the third or fourth most deadly landslide-related disaster of the 20th century. The 1970 earthquake destabilized a glacier and snowmass which surged rapidly downhill, becoming a mudflow as it accumulated large volumes of loose dirt, rock and surface water. The slide then entered the Río Santa and caused extensive damage as it flowed all the way downstream to the Pacific Ocean.

Yungay is located in the Callejon de Huaylas on Rio Santa at an elevation of 2,500 m. East of the small town are the mountain ridges of snow-covered Cordillera Blanca, with Huascaran, Peru's highest mountain, no more than 15 km east of Yungay. Campo Santo is memorial to the 1970 Ancash earthquake victims.

Although most of Yungay was completely leveled by the earthquake and mudflow, some remnants, including the ruined cathedral and cemetery, can still be seen in the area.

“Ho imparato che…..”

.

.

neanche me stesso”

……………………..(Confucio - Mirto)

.

"I learned that ... .."

.

“I've learned that calm is a lot

more destabilizing than anger ...

that a smile is very disarming

more than a wrinkled face,

I learned that silence

faced with an offense is

a cry that makes the earth tremble.

I learned that as a love

refused is not lost but returns

intact to the one who wanted to give it,

so it happens with anger, offenses ...

we decide whether to let ourselves be touched

or not from a feeling,

whatever feeling it is.

It doesn't matter if you are progressing

very slowly… what matters is

that you haven't stopped,

that you have moved on, and

you looked him in the eye

you read deep in his heart

but he understood everything, he listened to everything.

His silences weren't sincere

but they trembled with fear of

to have been ungrateful, ungrateful,

of not having offered his heart

at a particular time in your life

when he held out his hand to you.

You did not give your soul for his salvation

you did not offer yourself for his sake,

I learned that you don't have to be available

with people who do not deserve,

I have learned not to love anymore

not even myself "

Endless: Permafrost

A thermokarst landscape inspired by the Tundra and Taiga biomes found in Siberia and Northern Alaska. Set in the height of the short summer there (where temperatures range from 3° to 25 °C), it offers a glimpse of what might occur when the sub-soil ice layers melt... A world of beautiful destruction, wide vistas and quietness.

SL is full of so many wondrously creative places and exploring is one of my favorite things to do here. On one of my most recent travels I discovered Endless: Permafrost. It's a hauntingly beautiful space that aims to bring awareness to the potential destabilization of Artic infrastructures due to the impacts of global warming on the permafrost in that region.

🚗 Visit Endless: Permafrost to learn more about and explore this beautiful region.

I've walked this lonely rural road thousands of times. It bisects open farmland and offers virtually unobstructed views out to the horizon. But on this day thick fog had condensed the expanse of openness into a nearly unrecognizable otherworld. I found it delightfully destabilizing to see a familiar landscape transformed into something out of a horror film. It felt as if walking any farther up the hill would be akin to stepping into an abyss, with a good chance of never being seen again. The only glimmer of hope was the sun, hugely afflicted by the mist, yet still able to create a glistening effect on the wet surface of the road. This brightness felt way out of balance with the ambient light which further destabilized my senses. From a certain angle it looked more like new-fallen snow. The fun-house effect was overwhelming!

The surprisingly colorful patterns carved in ancient concrete in the extremely hot fire that destroyed our 100 year old Forest Service cabin near Tahoe. Some interesting chemistry involved, and the 'punky' destabilized concrete after a hot burn, cannot be re-used as it has lost it's mojo, like Samson after they cut off his hair.

The Brodten cliff is a so-called active cliff, which recedes by an average of around 50 to 100 cm per year due to the influence of the Baltic Sea. The demolition occurs mostly in the winter months due to the impact of waves during storms and after heavy rains due to the sliding of parts of the cliffs when they are destabilized by the water escaping from individual layers.

The Hayswood Hospital opened in 1925 and closed in 1983. In the early 1980's an earthquake damaged the power plant. A new hospital was built on top of the hill near the AA Highway.

Redevelopment and or demolition never happened. The cost of remediation and concerns of hillside destabilization that would effect residences on top of the hill prevent farther actions. It has a beautiful view of old Maysville . With the opening of the Simon Kenton Bridge this hospital served the rural counties of southern Ohio.

The altostratus undulatus is a type of altostratus cloud with signature undulations within it. These undulations may be visible (usually as "wavy bases"), but frequently they are indiscernible to the naked eye. These formations will generally appear in the early stages of destabilizing return flows, especially over the southern plains of the United States, when the surface temperature is still relatively cool.[1] The wavy strips of clouds are generally near an inversion surface.

Also referred to as billow clouds, wind row clouds, or wave clouds, variations of the undulatus can be elements that have merged or single elements that have stretched through the sky. Source Wiki

The Brodten cliffs runs for four kilometers along the Bay of Lübeck (Baltic Sea) between Lübeck-Travemünde and Niendorf (near the village of Brodten) in Schleswig-Holstein.

Playing Tarot card game at family gatherings has been a tradition in my family for decades.

When 3 to 5 players play with a deck of 78 large cards, you end up with a lot of cards to hold in your hand, which can be destabilizing for beginners, let alone the rules and the way points are counted.

The situation depicted is a very good one, where the player in the foreground is about to snatch an opponent's King by playing his very coveted "1" of Atout...

What a phenomenal view after it rained 😳

"The Great Salt Lake primarily provides a lifting mechanism and acts as an atmospheric destabilizer, which encourages convection. This is in contrast to the Great Lakes, where the lakes contribute significant amounts of moisture and latent heat.".

My thoughts on this week's crisis:

Denmark has owned Greenland since 1721 when it became a Danish colony. Greenland was initially explored by Danish missionaries and traders, and in the 18th century, Denmark established formal control. In 1953, Greenland was made an integral part of the Kingdom of Denmark, rather than a colony, although it remained largely autonomous in internal matters. In 1979, Greenland gained home rule, giving it control over most domestic affairs, while Denmark continued to handle foreign policy and defense. In 2009, Greenland further expanded its autonomy with self-government, though it remains part of the Kingdom of Denmark today.

If the Trump administration successfully takes over Greenland, it could very possibly lead to strained diplomatic relations with Denmark (consequentially the EU) and other allies, possibly escalating tensions in the Arctic. It could also raise concerns about imperialism and the sovereignty of indigenous populations in Greenland. Ultimately, such a move might destabilize international relations and strongly affect the perception of the U.S. on the global stage.

The sun popped out for a bit and i was able to get these shots. I figure things are going to start getting more on the ragged looking side because as I was leaving to come home storm clouds were moving back in and the wind picked up.. Not unusual for this time of year. For the next few weeks the stable summer weather is going to start to destabilize and we could get some really hard blasts. Especially in the upper lakes ! Very unpredictable this time of year. people around listen to the weather but not to seriously because the forecast can change in 20 minuets.

Chapter VII: The Preparations

Nagato consulted his tablet for the latest instructions. The orders were clear: the next target was Fermilab, near Chicago. However, a persistent doubt gnawed at him. He had been infiltrated for several years in the 11th and 12th centuries, an arduous and lonely task that had cost him much of his personal life. Although the purer air and freedom to move without restrictions on Earth's surface offered some respite, he constantly longed for his real family and a special person he hoped to share his life with. The message he had just received reminded him of the danger of his mission; he had almost lost his life in the last incursion. This near-death experience increased his doubts about whether he was on the right side and the true purpose of his missions.

As he prepared in his hideout, Nagato reviewed the plan meticulously. He needed to infiltrate Fermilab, locate the core of the particle accelerator, and destabilize it without being detected. While preparing his equipment, his thoughts grew darker, remembering moments with his family and the person he left behind. Determined not to fail, he checked his tools one last time. With a mix of determination and doubt, he set off for Fermilab, questions about his loyalty and mission purpose weighing heavily on his mind. Despite the uncertainties, he was ready to face the challenges ahead, protect those he loved, and discover the truth.

Even on a brilliant, blue sky day, noon time in December takes on an otherworldly appearance. Reminds me in a way of seeing the sun during an eclipse. That subtle diminution of light that tends to destabilize the human psyche. Right now the sun seems absurdly low in the sky in the northern hemisphere. Depending on where you stand, it doesn't even clear the treetops which creates a daylong filtering effect. It seems now there is always something between me and the sun which heightens the effect. Further, the apparent size of the sun has shrunk down a very constricted ball of light. The glare of the summer sun dwarfs this (comparatively) small all of light. This always reminds me of a fake sun of the sort that would hang over the stage in a children's play.

I visit the cemetery often in December in search of scenes such as this. I often shun sunny days during the summer, but find them most desirable this time of year. I come in search of shadows rather than the objects that create them. I wander about looking mostly at negative space, and the effect of the diminished sunlight on the surroundings...seeing not what's here but what isn't here. It's a matter of seeing the ordinary world in extraordinary circumstances, and the way this all makes me feel. I love capturing these seasonal aberrations, in this case being able to include the noonday sun in a ground level scene...a shot not even remotely possible in summer.

Melodía de sombras (Melody of Shadows, 2016) is a heap of testa non pertinente that invokes classical sculpture and, at the same time, commemorates the fallen in the conflicts that permeate our national reality.

Artist Cynthia Gutiérrez (born 1978 in Guadalajara, Mexico)

The work of Cynthia Gutierrez denotes a constant search to analyze memory at different levels, generating tensions or fissures in established schemes. Her reflections and processes depart from situations of conflict; from indefinite, unstable terrains with a vulnerable condition that allows movement in multiple directions. From fragments, she reconfigures images that alter habitual trajectories and destabilize structures offering alternatives that simultaneously operate between reality and fiction. She articulates historical elements from a new posture with distorted chronologies that evidence the impossibility of generating accurate memories, and reveal the transience of history.

this Lofoten tunnel was especially interesting, part simply hews into the rock leaving its bare face at sight and other parts, probably where the rock got destabilized by the tunneling, it had walls protected with concrete. The result was a constant changing on the light reflection which I found very beautiful.

Multiculturalism and mass migration are meant to destabilize the West. The Bible warns of an evil ruler coming out of Europe called the antichrist. For some reason, this reminds me of a Hitler-type figure. The Bible also says that the antichrists kingdom will be a mixture of people (races), who will not remain united. Ah, the old divide and conquer trick!

The Quiraing in the north of Skye is a fascinating and weird landscape. The Quiraing (Scottish Gaelic: Cuith-Raing) is a landform on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, the northernmost summit of the Trotternish escarpment on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. It takes the form of a craterous hollow surrounded by a high rampart of rock. Within the hollow is a raised plateau the size of a football field, known as the Table. Other distinctive features of the landscape are the Needle, a jagged pinnacle rising to 120 feet (37 m), and the Prison, a mass of rock resembling a medieval keep.

Like the rest of the Trotternish escarpment, the Quiraing was formed when a thick layer of flood basalt spread over the peninsula and destabilized the weak sedimentary rocks below, causing a succession of landslides. It has been renowned for its fantastical appearance since the Victorian period. The poet Alexander Smith dubbed it "a nightmare of nature".

There was evidence of landslips while I was there. One of the steep grassy slopes had slid right to the bottom leaving a patch of rich dark earth as if all the turf had been lifted for a football pitch. And there had obviously been a sizeable rock fall with debris obliterating the path along the escarpment. In places the path is just a notch cut into the hillside making me wonder if the weight of walkers might be enough to start it sliding down the hill. Perhaps more likely in wet weather. And in many places the worn path, perhaps barely a foot wide, narrowed to half that where one side had disappeared down the slope. It worried me a bit as I wandered along: do I worry about boulders crashing down from above or worry about the path collapsing below my feet? Oh well, I failed to spot any bodies down below, and I hadn't heard of any deaths at the Quiraing in the News. Mind you the News is full of so much other stuff these days it is quite likely such an event would be unreported.

Take your Time is a large circular mirror fixed to the ceiling at an angle. The mirror rotates slowly on its axis, which creates a whirling sensation, destabilizing the viewer’s perception of space. The artwork is installed above the monumental, double-helix staircase, a position which adds a playful albeit disorienting effect as one arrives at its highest point. Engaging with the viewer’s movement, but also with light, reflection, and the elements of architecture and surrounding space, this work offers an enchanting experience. It is a new interpretation specifically created for the site of LUMA Arles.

Esfahan is a city of great beauty and sincerity which encouraged me to reflect on where my travels had taken me both physically and emotionally.

This is from series of photos that I took in North Africa and the Middle East in 2008. I was lucky enough to travel through these areas a few years before the current destabilization. In my solo travels from Morocco to Pakistan I experienced nothing but warmth and generosity from the people I met. Without the help and support of countless strangers it would have been impossible to complete this long overland journey.

Taken while this event: CECI N'EST PAS…

INSIDIOUS IMAGES

A glass box in the city centre. Inside is a living tableau that changes every day. Disconcerting scenes – that some find embarrassing, others intriguing – leave no one indifferent. The Dutch artist Dries Verhoeven concocts destabilizing and potentially explosive images, deliberately poking away at our taboos. 10 days, 10 events, 10 cold showers.

Ceci n’est pas... presents different people in a display case in situations that do not meet the criteria of perfection and success promoted by marketing propaganda. In an era of visual discomfiture where the passerby is submerged by reassuring visual ads aimed at the frenetic consumers we have become, this highly subversive jack-in-the-box worms its way into the city centre, upsetting orthodox convictions, disturbing humdrum routines. Taken aback and maybe even shocked, spectators express opinions, argue, reflect. The public space, suddenly a theatre of imperfection and trouble, becomes a place for discussion and exchange. This is not a commercial.

Mammatus clouds are generally still little researched weather phenomena. There are various theories about their origin, none of which have been proven. One of the most well-known theories states that mammats are formed by evaporation processes on the underside of clouds, when this cools and destabilizes the layer of air beneath the cloud, which in turn creates lift, which leads to the formation of mammatus.

This was not originally a church bell, but the city's warning used in case of storm floods, fire, or some other hazard. The first storm belt from 1333 was damaged by partial collapse of the Commoner’s Tower in 1594. It was recast in 1599 in the medieval bishop's palace in Bispegade from which according to sources it was dragged to the Cathedral ‘by a flock of scholars’ from the cathedral school.

The Storm Bell measures 147 cm in diameter, and weighs approximately 3 tonnes. It has not been swung since the early 1800s, for fear that the oscillation of the heavy belt might destabilize the tower. A mechanical hammer ensures that the bell strikes the hour (1-12 strokes)

After the stifling heat of the Moroccan interior the fresh coastal breeze was a welcome relief.

I'm not going to lie, I've wanted to photograph this spot for a long time, and I finally got my opportunity with a couple friends earlier this year. We paid really close attention to the weather to try and land this on a day where we'd get light on the peak, nice clouds, and snow on the trees. Luck happened to be on our side! However, tragedy nearly struck in the making of this image.

I'd set up my composition pretty close to where Scott did, though my decision nearly had me buying both Scott and I new cameras. I was set up in a snowbank, and must have taken a step too close to the water - my right foot punched a hole in the snowbank, right into the river and I started to fall, bringing my camera along for the ride. In my panic I threw my camera, tripod and all, away from the river and into a snowbank. As I fell toward Scott's camera, I was terrified that I'd take it for a dip with me, or destabilize the snowbank enough to knock his camera in on its own! I managed to roll to my left as I went down, barely keeping my momentum away from the water.

Thankfully, the luck we had with the conditions extended to me not accidentally ruining two cameras and getting soaked in a freezing mountain river! Life is all about the little wins, isn't it?

“When you think about it, we are completing a journey. Ten thousand years ago, as hunter-gatherers, we lived a sustainable life because that was the only option. All these years later, it’s once again the only option. We need to rediscover how to be sustainable. To move from being apart from nature to becoming a part of nature once again.

~Sir David Attenborough

(As the narrator in the documentary film ‘David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet)

Sir David Attenborough recently made headlines for his wildly popular Instagram account, which reached one million followers in record time after only four hours of being active. Such popularity of the man reflects the impact of his work in broadcasting and environmentalism for the past 60 years. In his sensitively made recent documentary, “David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet” (on Netflix) –which the 93 years old conservationist calls his ‘witness statement’ for the environment– David Attenborough narrates a persuasive case in support of sustaining wilderness and biodiversity to save humanity from its own doings. Laced with top notch wildlife and landscape videography, the documentary simmers in deep humility arising from Attenborough’s decades of fieldwork and his prescience that’s gloom and hope in equal parts. Early on, Attenborough reminds us that the human race has '…broken loose from the restrictions that have governed the activities and numbers of other animals'. Today, we are 'replacing the wild with the tame' where we 8 billion humans and our livestock account for majority of animal biomass on this planet. ’The rest, from mice to whales, make up just 4%’. That is a sobering piece of data for biodiversity or lack thereof. Indeed, Attenborough hauntingly laments, The human beings have overrun the world… completely destroyed the world…’.

Take for example the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. An increase in atmospheric carbon has always destabilized life on earth– yes global warming… y’all must have heard about it. Excess carbon in the atmosphere'was a feature of all five mass extinctions (on earth). In previous events, it had taken volcanic activity up to one million years to dredge up enough carbon from within the earth to trigger a catastrophe. (By burning coal and oil)… we have managed to do so in less than 200'. If humanity remains on its current course, in the next few decades –Attenborough predicts with the grimness of dark dungeons– the warming earth will become largely unhabitable for most, including pollinating insects, thrusting us into a perilous food crises. ’A sixth mass extinction event is well underway. This is a series of one-way doors'. Irreversible.

But all hope is not lost. ‘To restore stability to our planet, we must restore its biodiversity… We must rewild the world.’ Attenborough then goes on to suggest several means of doing so in the next few decades, most of which you may have already heard of. If we do our parts right, ’we will finally learn how to work with nature rather than against it… This is not about saving our planet. It’s about saving ourselves… We have come this far because we are the smartest creatures that have ever lived. But to continue, we require more than intelligence. We require wisdom.'

Arguably, among all the living organisms, human beings are the only ones able to imagine the future full-scale. Additionally, thanks to our technology and scientific prowess, we also have the unmatched ability to frame and design the future, at least partially, to our liking. But do we have the wisdom and –more importantly– the will to rise above our shallow egos and short-term gains to choose the best future for our unborn generations?

PS: While processing the above Navajo landmark's image, I was admittedly influenced by my friend Sandra Herber's rich oeuvre, relevant parts of which depict ruins in a minimalist and poignant way to tell how a place looks when gods and humans evacuate it. Thank you, Sandra.

On 30 January 2002, I climbed to the summit craters of Etna with two friends, on a rather mild, sunny day with almost no snow. Five months had passed since the spectacular eruption of July-August 2001, which had mostly affected the south flank of the volcano, but some vents had also opened on the upper northeast flank. That eruption had brought a sudden end to the nearly continuous activity that had occurred at all four summit craters of Etna for six years (1995-2001). No glowing lava had been seen anywhere on Etna since 9 August 2001. However, deep within the Bocca Nuova, deep rumblings were heard a few weeks after the end of that eruption, and this was again the case when I visited that crater on 30 January 2002. We were standing on the rim of the huge pit in the western part of the crater, and every few minutes a loud bang rose from the tremendous throat, along with a volume of white vapor and bluish sulfur dioxide. The ground was covered with fine, light brown ash, a sign that some ash had been emitted lately, but this was all pulverized old rock, no sign of new magma rising to the surface.

In this view, you can see the countless layers of lava and loose (pyroclastic) rock material, which led to the filling of the Bocca Nuova between 1995 and 1999. The steaming peak in the left background is the western rim of the Voragine, and the steep crag in the right distance is what remains of a small cone formed within Etna's former Central Crater in 1964. Not much of the features visible here remain today.

Etna remained essentially silent for another two months, then ash emissions started from the Bocca Nuova and the Northeast Crater in late-March and early April 2002. Magma briefly appeared in the Bocca Nuova in mid-June, but more consistent Strombolian activity started within the Northeast Crater in July, and went on through late-September. Etna was coming back to life, and everybody was convinced that it would not take long until there would be another major flank eruption. The eruption of July-August 2001 had destabilized the volcano and ripped its flanks open, and it would not be difficult for new magma to issue through these wounds once more.

And that's exactly what would happen during the night of 26-27 October 2002.

I still have a lot to learn about shooting in low light. Tonight the wind whipping across the pier was destabilizing my tripod, so things are definitely to as sharp as they should be and ugh this horrible vignetting! However, I wanted to show off the amazing rosy pink color that moon was when it rose tonight!

ALIENATED by Adwehe, the December 2024 exhibition @ Nitroglobus main hall.

Adwehe returns to the gallery with an introspective collection that explores feelings of estrangement in the face of a rapidly shifting world. Drawing inspiration from the global socio-political landscape, Adwehe’s work reflects on themes such as the upheaval in Western political movements, the persistence of global conflicts, and the dramatic evolution of societal norms. Her art serves as a poignant response to these sweeping changes, offering a personal view into the alienation and disconnection many of us feel in these turbulent times.

Visitors can expect a vibrant and heartfelt presentation that not only showcases Adwehe's multi talent but also sparks meaningful reflection on the state of the world today.

See you @ the gallery

Description of the artist:

In this exhibition, I attempt to touch on some of the darker sides of what technology has brought us in recent decades. Even with all the benefits it brings, social media and AI continue to cast an ever-growing darker shadow over society and the world, leading to division, destabilization, exploitation, and alienation.

The title of the exhibition also reflects my own feelings of alienation from the creation of more images, in the context of the unimaginable amounts of images produced every day. I embarked on a journey using only SL and the EEP sky options in the viewer to slowly delve into these feelings of alienation, drifting through the stories of our time.

Nuance and greyscale are not popular these days, its all black and white, a one second attention span, no thinking needed, all subtlety and depth erased.

I just want to be reborn, again and again, in beautiful vibrant colors.

Grayscales... translated into vibrant color.

Bearing the scars of many battles won, the matriarch sits on her throne, gazing inquiringly in our direction. She is a true leader. She cares for all within the pride, frequently putting herself in harm’s way.

In recent days I have witnessed Americans exercising their right to peaceful protest come under fire from White House security to facilitate a heretic’s campaign propaganda. I have wept as yet another human, a member of the pride, was denied the ability to breath as the result of overzealous police tactics and racial discrimination. I have listened to the naysayers impugn the medical community and science, choosing instead to proclaim the fabricated edicts of a self-righteous lunatic. I have watched as ignorant and visionless second amendment activists rally behind a listless fascist while he has openly flaunted their foolery. I have watched as those asserting to be closest to god have chosen a pussy-grabbing lout as a new savior. Efforts to destabilize this nation and the weaponization of the internet have been overwhelmingly successful, but I will not give up. I impatiently anticipate a day when young Americans have a leader worthy of emulation and the world can step forward in joyful unity. #Lions #Pride #Leaders #BlackLivesMatter #Pandemic

The quiet isolation of Leptis Magna was awe inspiring. It was a treat to be able to explore such a significant site with out any of the usual crowds.

I'm super happy to present my part of the Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga Collaboration! The collab depicts several levels from the beloved classic video game, leading up to the Release of The Skywalker Saga game later this year. I had the honor to build the first level of Episode II, Discovery on Kamino, one of my personal favorites from the game! This was a great chance to finally use my Jango Fett figure, again, one of my favorites from my collection. I hope you all like the build and make sure to check out the other parts of the collab here.

Mirrors are precious tools for multiplying points of view and shapes, the fragmentation of images and objects, the projection of shadows, can lead us to uncertain and destabilizing interpretations of reality.

A fleeting moment in the crowded street.

“Amongst the sizzling bolts of turbolaser fire, and the nearby droid scraps exploding upon their touch, we made our way up only to be met with little resistance. Easily distracted guards allowed one man to plant explosives, blowing up the platforms’ structure to destabilize them. They crumpled beneath the might of the newly formed Empire.” - CT-2864

Hey y'all, I'm back once more to show you my most recent (or should I say 4 month old build) for @darktimesgroup 's Mygeeto target. Really happy with how the rocks and platforms (those angles ;P) turned out, just hadn't gone around to posting it. This was also my May 4th post on here and I hope y'all had a great day. Anyways, can't wait to share close ups of this build on here r as well as show you what I've been working on recently! It's a banger! Cya!

You remember Solidarność ?

It was 1980, when this union of metal mechanical workers from Poland, started to give life to this great movement of people and ideas, which have gradually destabilized the Polish Communist regime triggering the process of fragmentation of the block communist countries, removing them from political and military hegemony of the USSR. Up to the historical moment of the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

Solidarnosc - Solidarity, like a magic word that can unite people and nations.

After 30 years the word "Solidarity" is almost out of the political language, and is a marginal value that today serves as a magnifying glass to view it ...

Things are falling apart as we go forward..

- Paris, France (March 2017)

Dhanbad (India) - At first I thought that the gleaners collected all the coal that came within reach. Not at all. They prioritize pieces of ore that have a precise calibration. Not too big, not too small, to fit in the baskets without destabilizing it.

Even very heavy blocks placed directly on the heads of the carriers will be transported to a place where they can be broken with a hammer in order to facilitate transport in woven baskets, over longer distances.

The clones aboard Tarkin’s Nu-Class shuttle, Karkarodon’s Dread, staggered from side to side, as the shuttle’s cargo hold rumbled unceasingly, slowly conceding to the Nightsister’s dark magick and it’s tight, glowing, yellowish-green grasp on the vehicle.

“Hang on boys, it’s about to get real rough”.

The pilot’s warning could not possibly prepare the troopers on board for the crash they were about to live through; As the ship’s nose hit the ground with a loud thud, consequent sparks of electricity and crackling noises, both from the comlinks and the ship’s internal electric workings lit up the scene. The screams of the victims whose bodies were being crushed by the ship’s machinery, which was no longer located inside the ship’s core, but rather sporadically laid across the ground, could barely be made out amidst the chaos that now reigned the previously calm atmosphere. A final, overwhelmingly loud explosion knocked out all clones and other sentients present on the crash scene, plunging them into a short-lived coma.

“Lieutenant, gather your men and call us a transport at once”.

Tarkin’s voice broke through the now silent atmosphere of the crash scene, where clones were once again staggering to their feet, some doing so in futile attempts to get up. The second pilot, the one who’d alerted the troopers to the imminent crash and had somehow managed to survive it, jumped over his seat. Sliding down the lateral face of the downed shuttle, he kneeled a few meters farther to help a fellow brother get up.

“Leave him, there’s no time. This is war for Coruscant’s sake! We’ve managed to capture a live subject and it’s survived the crash in its cryostasis pod. We must bring it to Coruscant at once, no matter the cost or casualties. If we are to succeed, no time must be wasted”.

The admiral’s cold-hearted speech on the cost of winning the war obviously destabilized the pilot, even though he’d heard it from many others before. Like all clones, he couldn’t bear the thought of leaving a brother to agonise behind. After all, clones like him were bred with a strong sense of loyalty, not just to the jedi, but to their brothers as well...

Well, after a slight delay in the release of this build, I am very proud to present to you Part 8 of the Dathomir collab. If you’d like to see the previous seven parts, head over to my Instagram stories (@emazingbrix) where you’ll find a highlight dedicated to the full collaboration. Stay tuned for the release of Part 9, the finale, on this very account in a few days! C&C always welcome, cya!

In the years following King Internationals extensive campaign in Somalia it was evident that while the Tabaraysasho Xornimo had been defeated and scattered beyond repair, there were still many splinters of the original insurgent group operating in the more destabilized areas of eastern Somalia, many taking advantage of the flow of foreign businesses, namely Global Energy Solutions trying to lay claim to the vast expanses of cheap and much of the time unclaimed land due to the large majority of the populace having fled the area to take refuge in neighboring counties. With many of the companies’ investments being threatened, King International was again brought into Somali. Unlike the former contracts pertaining to Somalia, this time King International had to take a less aggressive approach, which ultimately proved costly, on many occasions convoys and escorts were ambushed and with the strict engagement policies, placed in order to cut down on collateral damage, there was, much of the time, little to be done to avoid these confrontations.

The destabilization of Mon Cala had spread to the edges of the sector, and had reached as far as Lothal. Trusting the adamant support of Lothal, New Republic officials and security forces had been reallocated to other Outer Rim systems deemed more in need. Lothal had taken big strides towards establishing fully independent governmental departments, true to New Republic ideals. Or so they thought.

Lothal Defense Systems was a local privately owned security force that has been struggling to establish an interstellar defense grid across the Lothal sector. With several unanswered inquiries for personnel, and technology to the New Republic, the LDS was growing weary to put it mildly.

Lothal Defense Systems Headquarters

The tension in the room was palpable. The expression on the guard's resembled surprise, or more accurately, disbelief. Only the hum of the consoles, and the careful smirk of the deputy director broke the tension. It had been a long time since Imperials had been so warmly welcomed on Lothal.

“Welcome to Lothal, Colonel” The smirk on the deputy director stayed, as if painted on. “I’ve been looking forward to our meeting.” The colonel signaled to the troopers to stay in place at the entrance, and walked up to the deputy’s desk. At his side was a nervous-looking Mon Calamari, seemingly more interested in his datapad than anything else.

“Thank you Director. I understand you’ve been briefed? That should save us some time.” The deputy director nodded, and turned to her guards. “You can leave the room now.” It took a few seconds to sink in. The guards were clearly not in agreement with the latest turn of events.

As soon as the colonel, the Mon Calamari and the director had the room to themselves, the colonel looked down and continued. “We have brought the personnel and the tech you've requested.” The director smiled, while the colonel looked directly at her. “We’ve adjusted our plans slightly. All long range communications are disabled immediately. We need all clearance codes to the defense grid, and your personal authorization to move the ships into Lothal’s orbit.” The director's smile had faded back to the initial smirk. She nodded, and turned to her console. Flicked a few buttons, and looked at the Mon Calamari. “Comms are disabled. You should have access to the grid now.” The colonel nodded to the Mon Calamari. He had what he needed, and he left the room, while adjusting approach vectors for capital ships on his datapad.

The sun had begun setting, and the colonel and the director walked to the back window of the office. The colonel seemed less tense. He turned from the window, facing the director. “Let us hope that the dawn will inspire the people to embrace the new Lothal.”
