Disused gear and a boat left to decay at Dungeness. The hut in the background gets more dilapidated with every visit. May be just a pile of wood next time.

"Right now I can’t read too good
Don’t send me no more letters, no
Not unless you mail them

This image was captured on an early morning walk on McCoy Flat Reservoir in rural Lassen County, California, USA. It was 11 degrees Fahrenheit on this chilly March morning with the dew point just a couple degrees above ambient temperature. This resulted in a nice coating of hoar frost on the myriad pieces of driftwood that litter the landscape along the northern shore of the “lake” (which is basically a large meadow that is flooded for much of the year but generally dry by the end of summer until the spring thaw). The wispy fog creeping around the area and wonderful pastel tones in the sky created a scene I felt truly blessed to see and photograph.

The rugged desolation of the northern Atacama Desert is on full display at Kilometer-64 of the Southern Peru Copper; it's stark emptiness briefly interrupted by copper ore empties on their return journey to Cuajone Mine. The track geometry of the SPCC main line is an impressive feat of engineering, rising in elevation almost 13,000 ft in just 140 miles.

The southbound Trona Railway passes one of the few roads it encounters on the journey from the mines to the UP interchange at Searles.
The remains of what was once a hunting and whaling cabin on Danmark Ø, strategically overlooking the mouth of Fonfjord and the distant Volquaart von Kyst moutains on the Gaseland penninsula where it meets Scoresby Sund, East Greenland. Until recently people from the Thule culture lived on the island and remains of their rock and turf winter houses can be seen near the old cabin.
