Photo recap by NOTCOT: www.notcot.com/archives/2013/03/ arthropod-brain.php
From Kidrobot Nightriders series by Nathan Jurevicius. The description on the Kidrobot website:
“Nightriders are a particular breed of nocturnal bird spirits that wander between the supernatural world and earth-bound gods, communicating with the unseen.”
Rilla comes with a card that describes her:
Once found in the humid tropics of Australia, this energetic and highly focused being now roams the globe in search of creative adventures. Rilla’s kaleidoscopic stare is both dazzling and unnerving, often sending unprepared bystanders into hysterical fits.
The Nightriders also come with a little owl figure, Rilla’s is dark green.
I really like the design of this series and hope to find more of them.
I originally purchased a blank Mickey Vinylmation toy during a trip to Walt Disney World in August, 2010. Once I returned back to Maryland, I started to play around with designing Mickey. I became influenced by another souvenier from Walt Disney World which was a pin of a rainbow flag shaped like Mickey’s head. I thought it was such an incredible find that I wore it to Sunday services at my Unitarian Universalist congregation where I got praises for it. I became influenced by a pair of angel wings that were printed among the sheet of stickers I purchased at Disney World.
Then I remembered how my congregation has been enthusiastically supporting the Unitarian Universalist Association‘s "Standing on the Side of Love" campaign so I did this design for my blank Mickey. The hearts you see on his shirt and on each ear is based upon clip art that was originally created by Sean Bolton. (The design is a heart-shaped variation of the flaming chalice, which is a symbol of the Unitarian Universalist faith.)
To make him sparkle brightly, I mixed in glitter powder with acrylic paint before I painted it on Mickey’s shorts, legs, gloves, nose, and head. I used metallic paint for the shirt and shoes. Once I finished with the paint and stickers, I used glossy acrlic gel to seal the work. Then I used a matte varnish to seal the entire job.
I have lots of pics, will b updating my site soon, (my main computer has been crashed) :( but I will b posting tons soon

My HP is officially kicked to the curb & my house is now Mac-a-licious!!!
This MacPro moves like a knife through hot butter & it is coming in handy because I usually have at least 5 programs running at once (Photoshop, Parallels, DreamWeaver, Illustrator & Adobe Bridge), not to mention Mail, iTunes & Fire Fox. Yes, I’m a serious muti-tasker & having 2 19” monitors mos def helps!
The only thing that suffered during my total transition to the Mac platform was my Canon flatbed scanner (Canoscan NI2140U), which is 7 years old. It does not work with the new Mac OS, which I found out during a 25 minute call to Canon customer service. So off to Best Buy, I “had” to run for a replacement (Canoscan LiDE 600F). The funny thing is that, my old scanner outlived 4 PC’s & at least 3 printers.
OK, OK, I know you are bored so this will be the last toy photo that I post in a while. They are just so easy & fun to shoot & best of all, they don't talk back!

Yup. The flu. Matt has full-blown flu, and I am also taking tamiflu in the hopes I won't get it. Yuck!!!! Germs!!!!! This Space Monkey has the flu too. See, he's all green and droopy-eyed. Poor guy.
Not sure which was cooler: Interviewing Frank Kozik or getting to look through his toy collection. You can read the full interview with Frank here:

An excerpt of the intro:
Frank Talk With Mr. Kozik
Frank Kozik is misunderstood. Or maybe he’s perfectly understood in a scene with many contradictions. Either way, he’s earned a living making stuff he likes for three decades. At the age of 48, he’s already been a successful poster artist and run his own record label. These days, most people know Frank Kozik from his toy art, which began in Japan with Medicom and Bounty Hunter. In the early part of this decade, Kidrobot discovered him through a credit card order, and what followed set the course for both Kozik and the American vinyl toy scene.
Frank invited us over to visit his San Francisco studio-slash-toy shrine this week. Perhaps you’ve met Kozik before, at a toy signing or event, and come away thinking he seemed jaded or grouchy. (I have.) But at his home base, the man who gave birth to a million smoking bunny rabbits was at ease and open. For a couple hours, we talked about toys (there to make people happy), art (jury’s out on what it is) and money (one of Frank’s unabashed favorite things). Frank answered every question we lobbed his way. Ultraviolence? Fiberglass on the way. More Kaiju? Maybe in 2011. Current music? “Old metal and flavor-of-the-week fake South African hip hop.” Let’s begin at the beginning.

This is my 2nd version of "Shiny Demon"
I have to say. I'm really not at all wanting to part with this munny. It turned out much better than i anticipated. I'm going to miss it.
the 3rd is ready to be painted but my compressor just broke so it'll be on hold for a bit.

The work of Doll Artist Charles Stephan of Charles Creature Cabinet is shown in a Solo Show. The exhibition is in Rotterdam City at Designer Toy store FA Nieuwenhuyzen and runs from 28 February to 28 March 2009. All his ball-jointed dolls & designer toys are on display there. On Saturday February 28th there was a “Meet & Greet the artist” and an Alice Cherry Blossom Qee/Toy2R signing session
A tiny project … Started off as a figure, but I decided to add a few joints. The rough and edgy look is intended - celebrating my indie comic artist history … ^^
I think monkeyboy here is really cute. Meffi had two of these and was nice enough to give one to his sweet little sister :P (I didn't force him, no really!)
