The Designer Spotlight (held on Jan 28) is an open-house style event, presented a few months before the annual KPU fashion show, as an opportunity for industry and media to connect with graduating designers.
The event gives potential industry employers a chance to meet emerging designers, ahead of their graduation, before they begin to explore employment opportunities.
This year, guests had a unique opportunity to view student portfolios, displays, fabric swatches and colour palettes that conveyed the in-depth research, business planning and design thinking that is going into developing the thesis-level collections that will be presented at the upcoming year-end fashion shows (April 6th & 7th).
Featured collections will include seasonless apparel for those who live a genderless or non-binary lifestyle; clean and effortless eveningwear that encourages considered buying; menswear that combines formal and casual business wear using technical elements for function and comfort; clothing based on the philosophy of slowness and the principals of wabi-sabi; luxurious evening gowns that fuse local art with fashion; and surfing apparel for west coast women utilizing sewfree technology and soft circuitry.

Thursday showcased 5 Emerging Designers but the one that stuck in my mind the most was Tarien Mallebe Maveaf. The use of 1950's was very apparent and worked well with the collection. From the clothes and accessories used, Chanel and other top Fashion Houses were used as an inspiration here but the designer made it their own.

The parish of Wormington lies in the lower division of Kiftsgate Hundred, midway between Evesham and Winchcombe and is watered by the 'Isbourne', which rises in the Cotswolds behind Winchcombe and joins the Avon at Hampton near Evesham.
First mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1297, the village was divided into two places known as Great and Little Wormington, St Katharine's being the church for the two hamlets. Great Wormington was formerly a grange farm to the nearby Hailes Abbey and in later times reputed to have been a manor of itself. The two villages are now under one name, Wormington.
St Katharine's, although small, is, because of its age and architecture, of great interest. The building appears to be Perpendicular; the large windows in the north and south aisles are contemporary with this period but the three-light east window was added later.
Of particular interest are the nave, which has three bays and 14th century pillars on the south side; the chancel arch, which is also 14th century and has two continuous orders; the piscina, of the Decorated period, which has a trefoiled arch; the carved oak Jacobean benches with fine period decoration; and many examples of early work by local craftsmen.
St Katharine's has undergone several alterations in her long history, the most recent in 1926 when the present oak pews, stone floors and oak pulpit and altar rails were installed under the direction of Arts and Crafts designer Ernest Gimson.
