An exquisite bespoke premium Western Wear Fall/Winter 2016 Fashion Collection launched by Prominent Fashion Designer Ashima Sharma, stunned the audience when her models walked the ramp for the final show of Asian Designers Week. The theme of the event revolved around Glamorous Fashion and Ashima primarily targeted the western off-shoulder, shimmer pleats, cape overlay in her designs. The styles displayed were elegant, modern and chic. Ashima Sharma had chosen fabrics including shimmer, foam lycra and denim with embellishments coupled by cape and lacy overlays. Her dynamic and lively designs lured the audience with their subtle charm, poise and grace. The designer captured hearts when her show stopper Manara Chopra, the famous actress from the legendary Chopra background walked the ramp in ‘Pink Fall Winter Barbie Gown’ which goes well with her Nick name Barbie. While speaking to Ashima – the designer who owns an online western wear bespoke designer label named ASHIMA S COUTURE revealed that she designs for women of all ages, shapes and sizes. She works towards eliminating body insecurities prevalent among women and works towards making them look and feel their best. Her designs are affordable and upbeat with the current international trends, the Label also adds special focus on customization of designs for women with different body types to give the best fit. Furthermore, Ashima stated that, “I am very glad that Manara Chopra walked the ramp showcasing my Fall/Winter ‘16 Barbie Gown as the show stopper. I feel very motivated to deliver best of designs each day!”. Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear
(March 2022 to November 2022)
At a moment of unprecedented creativity in men's fashion and reflection on gender, this exhibition explored how designers, tailors and artists – and their clients and sitters – have constructed and performed masculinity, and unpicked it at the seams.
...The exhibition showcases the variety of possible masculinities across the centuries from the Renaissance to the global contemporary: from looks by Gucci, Harris Reed, Grace Wales Bonner and Raf Simons, to paintings by Sofonisba Anguissola and Joshua Reynolds, contemporary artworks by David Hockney and Omar Victor Diop, to an extract from an all-male dance performance by Matthew Bourne's New Adventures.
The exhibition presents around 100 looks alongside 100 artworks, displayed thematically across three galleries, Undressed, Overdressed, and Redressed.
The second gallery, Overdressed, explores the elite masculine wardrobe, epitomised by oversized silhouettes, lavish materials like silks and velvet in daring colours, and symbolic patterns to express status, wealth and individuality. On display will be armoured breastplates, silky smoking suits, makeup and shaving equipment, sweeping capes, ribbons and lace, including Grinling Gibbons' wooden carving imitating a Venetian needlepoint lace cravat. Through the lens of contemporary fashion designers including Rahemur Rahman and Kim Jones, Overdressed will show how historic ideas begin to shift, with a full rainbow of masculine outfits on display.
