The four quarters of the cylinder are each purposed as a pair of maracas and a pair of wood blocks. By passing the mallet handles through the holes in the pieces, the four quarters are then constrained. The transit allows the mallets to slot into the Tong drum.
By rotating/twisting the constrained cylinder units, the transit guides the pieces in towards the center and down, effectively interlocking the pieces together into a "single" whole.
aliceinblack designstudio collaboration with glare tech. with noise fractals take on different colors and shapes. they are rougher in appearance but not always. some beautiful noise laden fractals will surprise everyone.
Fin. As you can see, the 4 pieces of the cylinder are contained by the dowels passing through the holes. The transit allows the dowels to drop in and by twisting, interlocks the pieces into a "single" whole.
The dowel holes were hand drilled along with some other hand work. The milling allowed me to maintain a tolerance of 1mm—considered to be a very high tolerance for machining!
