An attempt to capture the depth of colour in a Magpie feather.
Far too windy to try this outside today so used natural light from a window and dusted off the tripod.
I'm no fan of Magpies - they're an introduced species that's no good for our native wildlife - but I must admit that their feathers have some amazing colours up close.

The striped leaf of one of my houseplants for Macro Mondays theme 'Leading Lines'. The image was shot at f3.2 for a very shallow dof and processed as a monochrome trying to give it a mysterious quality.

Saw this Fish from The Deep this morning while down at the shops . I am not sure what sort of fish it is meant to be but there it was swimming about in the window of the travel agents .
I had the clone out the stand it was on and I gave the shot a hard dark vignette for two reasons . One to give the illusion of a shot from the very depths of the oceans and two - to hide the reflections of the parked cars in front of the window !!
It was an unbelievable day!!! I was able to photograph 10 different whale breaching sequences - and there were several others I didn't get! These are dream shots for me.

Wawaloli Beach - Near Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.
This is a vertical lava tube which apparently goes down 10 - 15 feet and then turns and connects with the ocean. As the waves come in water shoots up and then drains back again. A remarkable sight, indeed!
