Screenshot of the OpenFrameworks program which runs the "Double-Taker (Snout)" robot. Subscreens are (from top left): (1) masked input; (2) background (via running median); (3) depthmap, derived from binocular disparity (via PointGrey Triclops SDK); (4) presence (via background subtraction); (5) motion (via frame-differencing); (6) "activity" (via blurred feedback buffer of the weighted sum of presence and motion). Below left: larger image of live camera input. Below right: "stick figure" animation-skeleton of the simulated robot.
The system tracks the two most significant moving-things in the camera's view. (Two seemed like enough for such a slow robot). When a new person appears they are given priority, so the robot will generally turn to look abruptly-ish at people who enter the scene.
The weird mask in the image processing reduces distractions from non-critical areas of the camera's view. For example, it's important that the robot does not see itself, or else it would always be the most significant moving thing, causing a feedback, etc.

This was my first test job with the lumenlab cnc robot. The Z axis motor stalled on plunge, and the image gradually fell away toward the bottom, but it still looks pretty neat.
Next attempt should be better.

Already I have learned the Depthmap method. Although this conversion is not my best but I'm uploading it just to say a big thanks to my conversion teacher 'Louis Carlsson".
Went on our Mexico honeymoon from Tues, Oct 26th to Sat, Nov 6th, 2021. Splitting things up with four nights on Isla Mujeres and seven nights at Excellence Playa Mujeres. And we fit in an excursion day at: Grand Cenote Hubiku, Chichen Itza and Vallavodid.
Instead of going to the Excellence Club Beach, we went to one of the pools for the day.

Use 3-D glasses to see this anaglyph photo, which I converted from a 2-D stock photo, using a depth map in Photoshop.
We went to our 2nd soccer match at Covenant Health Park. Our local Soccer Club, One Knoxville played against West Chester of New York. This time we got to see the game (no postponement or cancellation this time ). We arrived a little later and actually missed the two goals of the game! It ended in a tie, 1-1. Five minutes after the game, there were fireworks. We stayed for 5-10 minutes and then walked back to the parking garage and then home.

We ordered dinner from the Popeye's online mobile app. Drove up to Halls to pickup our order. We brought our pup, Rosey along with us.
We got Chicken sandwiches, Cajun Fries, Biscuits, Popcorn shrimp, Chicken tenders and Frozen Mango lemonades.
We were disappointed with the Popcorn shrimp. They were mostly breading. We thoroughly enjoyed the Frozen Mango lemonade. As well as the Chicken sandwiches. The Cajun fries were solid and the biscuits just fine.

My first attempt at creating a fake miniature in Photoshop. Subject and perspective are probably not the best suited for this kind of post processing but I though I'd give it a shot. The idea was to create an illution of a toy car the size of a hand.
Any feedback on what's workning and not is very much appretiated. As well as any other comments of course.
Use Lens Blur and Depth map to selectively focus on an image and selectively blur. The tutorial is here: photoshopper27.blogspot.com/2011/10/lens-blur-and-depth-m...

Our Zinnia plants in the front yard are flowering now. So I got the Nikon macro lens out to capture some 1:1 close up photos. I also took some with the iPhone as well.

In Depthmap method there are a few conversion tools that they work by Photoshop displace tool.
Working in the depthmap method let me enjoy doing conversions much more.

We stopped at our local Mini mart to get ourselves some soft drinks. My wife got herself a Lemon / Lime Gatorade and I got an Avocado & Mango drink. It's definitely an interesting drink. De Mi Pais is the company that produces it.

This map was produced by the Kingston Rod & Gun Club in 1964 from a 1956 survey. Contours are 30 feet apart. The greatest depth is a hole 475 feet deep on the upper lake near the County line. There are initials on the bottom JAL 1964.
At a maximum depth of 475 feet, Mazinaw Lake is the second deepest inland lake next to Lake Nipigon (maximum depth of 541 feet). By comparison, Lake Erie has a maximum depth of 210 feet while Lake Ontario's deepest point is 802 feet.

Fake miniature of a lighthouse on a micro-island in the Gothenburg archipelago. Shot from the ferry from Denmark.
Created with the Focus Blur plugin in Gimp, using a handdrawn depthmap.
This fake-miniature thing is FUN. :-)
I've made a closer crop of this one but haven't decided which one I like best. I like the sailboat at the back of this one, but it actually doesn't help the miniature feel (a miniature wouldn't be that large).

The PanoCamAdder is an addon for Blender.

Peanut butter and jelly on my homemade rye, in 3D and at twice life-size. Photo stacking was used to increase the depth of field at this extreme magnification, and to generate a depth map to create the 3D... in other words, I did not shoot two images from different positions to create the 3D effect.
More on these techniques on my blog here.
Saw a sponsored ad on Facebook for Mauro Provisions Craft Giardiniera. They're currently running a BOGO sale. So I ordered two jars. I got a Mild and Medium.
The company is owned by Jeff Mauro of Food Network fame. He's a Chef, Entrepreneur and TV presenter.
I ordered them on Monday and they arrived here on Thursday afternoon. To my surprise, they included stickers with my order!
Looking forward to using the Giardiniera with some kind of Chicago sandwich in the near future.

This year I switched phone carriers. I moved from AT&T wireless to mint mobile (they ran an offer of 3 months of unlimited service for $45). Well, I get the mail today and I received a Holiday card and mock-tail recipe from Ryan Reynolds & mint mobile! What a swell guy and phone carrier. 😊
The back of the card reads:
"'Tis the season for joy, laughter, and unlimited holiday texts--thanks to Mint Mobile!
May your holiday be as refreshing as a "MerriMINT Mojito Mocktail" by the fire.
A true Reynolds family tradition. That I just made up.
Happy holidays!
