A cat in greenery is a harmonious combination ... however, cats are always and everywhere harmonious :)
The ancient Egyptians had a special relationship with cats: they were revered as sacred animals; mummified like humans; depicted in sculpture and frescoes. And the very first cat "portrait" was written by the Egyptians.
For a long time it was believed that the Egyptians tamed cats. However, in 2004, a burial site dating back to 9500 BC was discovered in Cyprus. e., in which a cat was found together with a man. A wild beast would hardly have been put in a grave. It turned out that cats lived with people long before they appeared in Egypt. The Middle East began to be considered the birthplace of domestic cats, and Egypt was forgotten for some time. But not for long: in 2008, a burial was opened in southern Egypt, in which six cats were found - a male, a female and four kittens. Although this burial was younger than the Cypriot one (about 6000 years), it became clear that cats were known in Egypt much earlier than was thought until recently.
It is known that the ancestor of the domestic cat was the steppe cat Felis silvestris lybica - it still lives in the steppe, desert and partly mountainous regions of Africa, Western, Central and Central Asia, in Northern India, Transcaucasia and Kazakhstan. In 2007, it was possible to establish that all modern cats descended from him.
Seafarers brought the first cats to Rus' in the pre-Christian era. Exotic animals were a valuable commodity: the cost of a cat until the 15th century was comparable to the value of a healthy arable animal - an ox.
This monumental building was finished in 1947 by architect Alejandro Bustillo. I was taken away by its neo-gothic style, great walls, gigantic dome and amazing stained-glass windows. The stained-glass windows depict different images from the Stations of the Cross to historical figures from the area: Brother Francisco Menéndez, the Jesuit Father Nicolás Mascardi, Ceferino Namuncurá, Father Milanesio - Bariloche's first priest - and even one of the church's builder, architect Bustillo - represented as Saint Raphael - and Miguel Ángel Cesario - represented as Saint Michael Archangel.

The Ana Kai Tangata cave is of note because in the back left wall cave paintings depicting birds, mainly manutaras, can be seen. The paintings were drawn using natural earth pigments and animal fat, but the high humidity of the cave has harmed them almost to the point of erasing them.
The Kelpies are 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures depicting kelpies (shape-shifting water spirits), located between Falkirk and Grangemouth, standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron, in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. Towering above the Forth & Clyde Canal, The Kelpies are a feat of engineering, each made with 300 tonnes of structural steel; a steel frame with stainless steel cladding. The sculptures were designed by sculptor Andy Scott and were completed in October 2013 to form a gateway at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal. The Kelpies are a monument to horse-powered heritage across Scotland.

Bridge depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps and site of an earlier bridge. In 1810 the firm of Leys, Masson and Company aimed to make access to its Grandholm works easier by constructing a wooden bridge over the Don, with a small lodge. The bridge became known locally as the 'White Bridge'. It was replaced in 1922 by the present steel bridge, built for Crombie's by the Motherwell Bridge Company. After World War II a bailey bridge for pedestrians (NJ90NW0331) was placed a few hundred yards downstream near to the former works' gate. In 2002 the road bridge was closed to all drivers apart from Grandholm residents.

The gemsbok, gemsbuck or South African oryx (Oryx gazella) is a large antelope in the genus Oryx. It is native to the arid regions of Southern Africa, such as the Kalahari Desert. Some authorities formerly included the East African oryx as a subspecies.
The gemsbok is depicted on the coat of arms of Namibia, where the current population of the species is estimated at 373,000 individuals.
Gemsbok are the largest species in the genus Oryx. They stand about 1.2 m (3.9 ft) at the shoulder. The body length can vary from 190 to 240 cm (75 to 94 in) and the tail measures 45 to 90 cm (18 to 35 in). Male gemsbok can weigh between 180 and 240 kg (400 and 530 lb), while females weigh 100–210 kg (220–460 lb).
Gemsbok are widely hunted for their spectacular horns that average 85 cm (33 in) in length.

In 1969, the New Mexico State Department of Game and Fish decided to introduce gemsbok to the Tularosa Basin in the United States. Ninety-three were released from 1969 to 1977, with the current population estimated to be around 3,000 specimens. They thrive because their natural predators, including the lion, are not present.
Yesterdays photo taken at Botallack depicts the turbulent Atlantic Ocean positively battering the cliffs whereas in this capture it appears like milk spilling from a jug lol... I got far more pleasure when capturing this LE at Mother Iveys Bay though, because it was taken between lockdowns and although plenty of people on beaches a mile or so distant -because the local holiday camp of the same name we closed we had the beach to ourselves. I could relax whilst Jonathan threw a ball the opposite way to where i was taking photos which meant no paw prints in the sand and so got many different wave patterns as they broke on the beach. This was the only one that looked like this though....
The bay takes its name from the legend of Mother Ivy who was a local white witch who cursed a local family. It lies just around the coast from Harlyn Bay where you’ll find car parking and facilities (20 mins). Cushioned from the wind by the Merope Rocks, Mother Ivey’s Bay lies in a sheltered location framed by stunning coastal scenery where the soft sandy beach is ideal for both summer sandcastles and romantic winter walks.

A hilltop in the middle of a large city in the early evening. To the left, near one of the trees, if you squint you can see the image of a statue. Pioneer Mother is “A memorial to mothers who made the arduous trip west to seek better lives for their families, the 13-foot bronze statue depicts a woman perched sidesaddle on a mount, holding an infant, her expression reflecting grim determination and exhaustion. She is flanked by two men with rifles and a weary pack horse.” Can you guess where this statue is located? Maybe somewhere near a famous trail leading settlers to the west?

The picture captured from a small boat navigating Lake Rosselot depicts a mesmerizing scene of stormy clouds in the sky. The clouds are dark and heavy, giving a sense of impending rainfall. They appear to be dancing, swirling and twisting above the landscape, creating an atmosphere of dynamic energy.
Beneath the dramatic sky, the view extends to the surrounding area, which is characterized by the lush and vibrant rainforest jungle. The jungle is enveloped in a veil of mist and fog, adding an ethereal touch to the scenery. The cold and damp environment enhances the mystical and mysterious ambiance of the rainforest.
Despite the stormy weather, the beauty of the scene shines through. The rainforest is teeming with life, showcasing a variety of verdant green hues. Towering trees, covered in moss and hanging vines, reach towards the heavens, creating a dense canopy overhead. The interplay of light and shadow adds depth and texture to the picture.
The formations of the rainforest, visible in the distance, exhibit an awe-inspiring beauty. The rolling hills and valleys are covered with dense vegetation, showcasing the intricate patterns and layers of the jungle. The picture conveys a sense of both grandeur and intimacy, as the vastness of the rainforest is juxtaposed with the intimate details of its flora and fauna.
Overall, the photograph captures the captivating juxtaposition of the stormy clouds and the serene rainforest. It presents a breathtaking fusion of nature's power and beauty, inviting viewers to appreciate the raw and untamed wonders of the Lake Rosselot area.

Yueh Hai Ching Temple is a Chinese temple in Singapore.
The current structure of this shrine dates back to 1850 and was substantially renovated in 1895. Since then, it has undergone several restorations.
The temple exemplifies a Taoist temple in traditional Chinese architecture.
The roofs of the temple feature highly unusual ornaments, consisting of intricate arrangements of one- and two-story mini-structures and human figurines. These elements are arranged to depict clusters of buildings within a Chinese town.
In this temple, not only is the ridge densely adorned with dragons and miniature models of dwellings, but the copings, gable ends, and hips are also embellished with various structures, including pagodas, sheds, dwellings, and niches. Human figurines are displayed throughout, depicting scenes from Chinese operas that illustrate the courageous and meritorious deeds of gods and ancient heroes from Chinese legend.

This image depicts an old window on a side façade of the Chiesa della Madonna del Carmine in Noto, Sicily. The window features wooden shutters, weathered with time, and painted in a dark brown color, now peeling and revealing layers of history. The surrounding wall is textured and aged, with warm, earthy tones that complement the rustic appearance of the window. The shutters are partially open, allowing a glimpse of the barred interior window, covered with a light curtain.
Noto, a city in southeastern Sicily, is renowned for its exquisite Baroque architecture. Rebuilt in the 18th century after a devastating earthquake in 1693, Noto is often referred to as the "Capital of Baroque." Its streets are lined with elegant palaces, churches, and buildings that showcase the grandeur of Sicilian Baroque style. The Chiesa della Madonna del Carmine, like many other structures in Noto, exemplifies this architectural brilliance with its intricate facades and artistic details.
The city's historic center has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracting visitors from around the world who come to admire its beauty and rich cultural heritage. Noto's architecture is characterized by its harmonious proportions, intricate stone carvings, and the use of local golden limestone, which gives the buildings their distinctive, warm glow. This window, with its timeworn charm, is a testament to the enduring beauty and craftsmanship that defines Noto's architectural legacy.

Depicted in this scene are some of my most favorite creations of Nature: Brilliant light, a deep blue sky showing no beginning nor end, puffy white clouds with a few threatening gray ones keeping things interesting, and a mountain lake reflecting its own version of the same scene right back to me.

I looked up and saw the colorful late 16th-century frescoes by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari depicting the Giudizio Universale (Last Judgment).
The four evangelists are traditionally depicted on the sails of the dome, and their symbolic images are written below them.
The evangelists are depicted with open books, the figure of each of them is twice the size of a person.
Saint Matthew the Evangelist is on the southeast sail.
According to the fathers of the church, each of the four animals, in addition to the evangelists, expresses a style or character that is characteristic of the gospel of each of them. The image of the winged man must be assimilated by Matthew, since he begins his gospel with the human genealogy of the Savior.
Matthew the Apostle, also known as Saint Matthew and possibly as Levi, was, according to the New Testament, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. According to Christian traditions, he was also one of the four Evangelists as author of the Gospel of Matthew, and thus is also known as Matthew the Evangelist, a claim rejected by most biblical scholars, though the "traditional authorship still has its defenders."
A beautiful depiction of Ganesha, remover of obstacles and the lord of new beginnings.
I have mixed feelings about seeing deities and Buddhas in commercial settings such as a garden centres, alongside garden gnomes, dragons and flowerpot people.
But looking beyond to when these figures are in people's homes and gardens and giving them pleasure and maybe inspiring peaceful contemplation and then my mood changes to something more open to compassion.
Love, Light and abiding Peace to all sentient beings.

At the top right, a monument depicting a stylized albatross was erected in Dec. 1992.
A poem by the Chilean poet Sara Vial for the drowned can be found on a plaque nearby:
I am the albatross waiting for you at the end of the world.
I am the forgotten soul of the dead sailors
who sailed to Cape Horn from all the seas of the earth.
But they did not die in the raging waves,
for now they fly on my wings into eternity for all time,
where the Antarctic storm howls at the deepest abyss.
Located on the Piazza del Duomo in Bergamo Citta Alta, one can admire the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, a remarkable example of Lombard Romanesque. Building work started in 1137 (twelfth century) thanks to a town vote which promised the construction of a splendid church in exchange for the end of the plague epidemic which had afflicted the city. The primitive Romanesque structure (one nave and two aisles, with two major portals, two minor portals and an octagonal cupola) has been reworked over the centuries to the point where it is now very difficult to detect it. The most radical change was the construction of the Colleoni Chapel in the place of the old sacristy, at the same time as the addition, on the northern side, of the new sacristy. The Gothic steeple which dominates the portal is, in turn, an addition made in the fifteenth century. All the portals are the work of Giovanni da Campione. Of these the one next to the Colleoni Chapel (1353) deserves particular attention, as it blends Romanesque features (the round type of arch, the decoration of the portal depicting medieval animals and warriors), with a more exquisitely Gothic flavour. Giovanni da Campione is actually one of the last of the group of so-called "Campionese masters", who lived and worked in the transitional period from the Romanesque to the Gothic style. The equestrian statue of St Alexander by the same artist, which dominates the portal can already be fully classed as Gothic style.
The inside has also been radically changed compared to the original Romanesque structure, by decorations in stucco and marble from the seventeenth century; a wooden choir by Andrea Previtali (1470-1528) and Bernardino Zenale (1450-1526, one of the architects who contributed to the building of Milan Cathedral), following a design by Lorenzo Lotto; a wooden confessional by Andrea Fantoni, an interesting example of baroque art; Flemish tapestries from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the one which depicts the "Crocefissione" (Crucifixion) is particularly spectacular; frescos from the Giottesque school of the 1400s, representing the Stories of the Life of St Eligio and an "Ultima Cena" (Last Supper).
The image depicts a narrow alleyway lined with traditional stone houses. The houses have bright green shutters that stand out against the warm, tan-colored stone. The alleyway is bathed in sunlight, casting a golden glow on the scene. The houses have red tile roofs and you can see some plants growing on the balconies. The atmosphere seems peaceful and charming, typical of a small village on the island of Mallorca on a beautiful sunny day.
Thanks for your criticism and as always, favs, likes and comments are gratefully appreciated!
The Church of St Edward, was built between the 11th and the 15th Centuries - with further additions and renovations in Victorian times - on the site of an earlier Saxon church. The present church houses traces of Norman stonework, 13th Century Early English columns and arches, and a south tower and nave clerestory of Perpendicular style. The 88ft high 4-stage tower, completed in 1447, is a conspicuous landmark with an embattled parapet with pinnacles and a string course with gargoyles.
The stonework within the church has examples of Early English nailhead decorations to the column capitals, and has cable moulding round the tops of the shafts. The nave houses several grotesque corbels and some plain head corbels (probably depicting local dignitaries).
The south aisle houses a large picture of the Crucifixion by the Flemish painter Gaspar de Craeyer, who flourished around 1610. Joseph Chamberlayne of Maugersbury Manor, Stow on the Wold gave the picture to the church in 1875.
Externally is the most striking aspect of St Edward's is the pair of ancient yew trees flanking the 17th or 18th Century North Porch.

During my revisiting of the file containing images of Iceland I came across some additional images to edit as well as some old ones, This image is one of the old ones. I decided to see if I could reedit with new perspective. I settled with keeping people in the image as this would help add scale and I experimented with the light breaking through the clouds.
