Depending on how one counts these things, over a ten year period, Cézanne painted or sketched Montagne Sainte-Victoire near Aix-en-Provence between 70 and 80 times.
In contrast I only have about a dozen or so pictures of the moon rising behind the windmill at Saint Michel L'Observatoire, so I have a bit of catching up to do if I am to match Cézanne's obsession with a single subject, but then, I have only been on Flickr since 2022 ... 😆

Depending on the temperatures in October ,these Bald Cypress trees can produce marvelous November colors.The Spanish Moss is not a moss, it’s a rootless epiphyte that survives on rainfall, dust and random detritus in the atmosphere but it adds texture in its growth toward the water.
Le château de Thoreau est dans un domaine privé et on peine à le percevoir. La route publique traverse ses dépendances par ce porche qui a conservé un aspect plus ancien notamment avec cette tour en ruine sur la gauche.

Well, it depends on the tide. High tide, island. Low tide, peninsula.
Just another of the many little charms that can be found at the Sandbanks Provincial Park on Newfoundland'd south coast.
This really is just a small little island ... or peninsula, though. The large land mass you see in background on the left is not part of it. That really is an island a little farther off the coast. So, it has no conflicts about its identity. :-) The same goes for the land you see on the right.
If you care to search Sandbanks Provincial Park, Newfoundland on Google Maps and switch over to Satellite view you will be able to appreciate all the white sand beaches in the area. And you will be able to find this little jewel here.
Taken yesterday, here in Yukigaya. They have this Summer festival where kids and old people alike dances to the beat of the Japanese bells and drums.

01. My name is Randy Alboria Yu, 31 years old, married to Tata 3 years ago and we have no kids yet.
02. My father is half-Chinese and my mother has a Spanish blood. Ironically, I don't speak both languages but I can speak a total of 4 other languages. Filipino, English, Japanese and our own dialect which is Cebuano (Bisaya).
03. I hailed from a small town in Northern Mindanao called Nasipit but left it when I was 16 to study in UP Diliman. There, I became a member of a Fraternity, Melo and attyubag are some of my brods.
04. My mother worked in Tokyo for more than 20 years and I followed her here in 2001. I am presently working in Gabon Embassy as an Assistant of the Ambassador but I have worked as Embassy driver; a Club waiter, a bartender and a manager; a construction worker (painter); a Club DJ and a host (hosto). :P I also worked as an NGO's Operations Manager, one that facilitates the first Filipino caregivers here in Japan.
05. I paint with watercolor until I was 25, and I will try to paint again.
06. In sports, I play Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Baseball, Football, Badminton and Table-tennis, and with it I considered myself athletic. :P I also play Airsoft.
07. I love to sing and I love to dance. Sometimes I annoy/amaze my wife with moves only my mother would appreciate.. :P
08. I am a joker by nature, my jokes depend on my mood. Sometimes I crack a joke that will send all people around me laughing but sometimes.. I'm the only one who laughs at it.
09. I am a Mitsubishi lover, my first car was a Mitsubishi Pajero and I currently drive a Mitsubishi GTO.
10. My brain's range is varying, it can be that of a 10-year old, playing video games all day with not a care in the world or that of a 50-year old talking business or attending meetings and making points that my boss is suppose to do but he just can't because of a super hectic schedule.

Die Bewohnung des Hauses setzte sich auch nach der Abdankung der Monarchie 1918 und dem Ende der sowjetischen Nutzung des Neuen Gartens 1953 unter der Verwaltung der Staatlichen Schlösser und Gärten fort. Wegen starker baulicher Mängel war das Haus seit 1990 nur noch stark eingeschränkt nutzbar, seit 2018 stand es gänzlich leer. Nach Abschluss der Sanierung soll es wieder als Wohnhaus genutzt werden.

The Red House with its ice cellar built into the slope is one of the wine masters' houses built on the shores of the Holy Lake in the 18th century. When the New Garden was laid out, King Frederick William II acquired the house and grounds in 1790. The previously visible half-timbering now disappeared under a plaster façade painted red. The building, now known as the "Red House", was used as an annexe to the Marble Palace to accommodate members of the court household. After the abdication of the monarchy in 1918 and the end of Soviet use of the New Garden in 1953, the building continued to be inhabited under the administration of the State Palaces and Gardens. Due to critical structural defects, the building's use has been severely restricted since 1990 and it has been completely empty since 2018. Once the renovation is complete, it will once again be used as a residential building.

Depending on the ground water level, Grizzly Fumarole is some times a bubbling mudpot and other times, it is a steam vent. Dried mud is visible on the vents but only gas was coming out on this July day.

Bananas are the staple starch of many tropical populations. Depending upon cultivar and ripeness, the flesh can vary in taste from starchy to sweet, and texture from firm to mushy. Both skin and inner part can be eaten raw or cooked. Bananas' flavor is due, amongst other chemicals, to isoamyl acetate which is one of the main constituents of banana oil.
During the ripening process, bananas produce a plant hormone called ethylene, which indirectly affects the flavor. Among other things, ethylene stimulates the formation of amylase, an enzyme that breaks down starch into sugar, influencing the taste of bananas. The greener, less ripe bananas contain higher levels of starch and, consequently, have a "starchier" taste. On the other hand, yellow bananas taste sweeter due to higher sugar concentrations. Furthermore, ethylene signals the production of pectinase, an enzyme which breaks down the pectin between the cells of the banana, causing the banana to soften as it ripens.
Bananas are eaten deep fried, baked in their skin in a split bamboo, or steamed in glutinous rice wrapped in a banana leaf. Bananas can be made into jam. Banana pancakes are popular amongst backpackers and other travelers in South Asia and Southeast Asia. This has elicited the expression Banana Pancake Trail for those places in Asia that cater to this group of travelers. Banana chips are a snack produced from sliced dehydrated or fried banana or plantain, which have a dark brown color and an intense banana taste. Dried bananas are also ground to make banana flour. Extracting juice is difficult, because when a banana is compressed, it simply turns to pulp. Bananas fried with batter is a popular dessert in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. A similar dish is known in the United States as banana fritters. Plantains are used in various stews and curries or cooked, baked or mashed in much the same way as potatoes.

I walked around town after a dinner with friends in Zürich, Switzerland. A band was playing at the park on Lake Zurich near the Quai Bridge.
I processed a realistic and a smooth HDR photo from two RAW exposures, manually focus stacked them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Au début du XVIIIème siècle, lorsque le Duc d’Antin, fils de la Marquise de Montespan (célèbre favorite de Louis XIV) entreprit de vastes travaux de rénovation et d’aménagement du château de Bellegarde, il ne prévoyait certainement pas qu’un peu plus de 200 ans plus tard, la commune deviendrait propriétaire d’une grande partie de son château. Depuis, elle s’évertue à sauvegarder et promouvoir ce prestigieux patrimoine.
Estimant que le donjon était trop froid et traversé de courants d’air, le Duc d’Antin a fait construire le Pavillon de la Salamandre pour y installer ses appartements à l’étage. Le rez-de-chaussée était composé d’une enfilade de salons de compagnie. Le pavillon abrite désormais la Mairie. La salle des mariages est le dernier salon qui subsiste de cette époque et dont les boiseries sont classées monuments historiques.
Edifiée au XVIème siècle par Jacques de l’Hospital, cette tour était à l’origine un colombier. En 1765, Gauthier de Bésigny la transforma en logement pour le gardien du château que l’on appelait « Capitaine ». Cette tour fait aujourd’hui partie du patrimoine communal.

Today Hastings has a population of something over 80,000 and depends heavily on tourism to earn its living. There is still a fishing fleet based at The Stade in the Old Town, though severely hampered now by restrictions imposed from Europe. There is a remarkable amount of creative talent in the town: artists, writers and musicians seem to be particularly attracted here. Current Hastings residents include the jazz saxophone legend Trevor Watts, folk fiddlers Peter Knight (of "Steeleye Span") and Barry Dransfield; the award-winning science fiction writer Christopher Priest, and American-born novelist Leigh Kennedy. If rare musical instruments are your thing, have a look at the small 18th century John Snetzler organ, rebuilt in 1837, which found its way from Derby via Banbury and Lewes to Hastings, and is now sitting unobtrusively in the Unitarian Chapel in South Terrace (just a few doors along from the Quaker Meeting House).
Hastings never quite achieved the prosperity of resorts like Bournemouth or Brighton, but it has a comfortable, "lived in" feel and a lot to recommend it which is not perhaps obvious to the casual visitor. The ruins of the Norman castle on the West Hill are a major attraction as are St. Clement's caves nearby, while below on the seafront is Pelham Crescent and its centrepiece St. Mary-in-the-Castle, magnificently restored with its Georgian columns and soaring dome. For those who enjoy walking in the countryside, the unspoiled Country Park stretches from the East Hill up and down the glens and over the "fire hills" to Fairlight - and further if you can manage it!
The Old Town, nestling between the East and West Hills, is well worth exploring: as well as the picturesque houses and shops, the streets are riddled with a surprising network of little alleyways (or "twittens" as we call them in Hastings!) The beach is home to the largest shore-based fishing fleet in England, and to the eye-catching tall wooden huts where the fishermen dry their nets.
The River Tamar forms the boundary between Cornwall and Devon. Rising only 4 miles from Bude and the Atlantic Ocean, the it flows south, slowly at first, for nearly 50 miles to the English Channel. In its middle reaches, the River Tamar winds its way through steep wooded country.
This is also an area strewn with the relics of two centuries of mining and is part of Cornwall's and West Devon's World Heritage Site. On the Cornish side is Cotehele Quay, once a busy port on which the local community depended.

Briksdalsbreen glacier terminates in Briksdalsbrevatnet, a small lake which lies 346 metres above sea level. The size of Briksdalsbreen depends not only on temperature, but is also strongly affected by precipitation. Measurements since 1900 show small advances of the glacier front in the first decades. In the period from 1934 to 1951 the glacier receded by 800 metres, exposing the glacial lake. In the period from 1967 until 1997 the glacier expanded by 465 metres and covered the whole lake, with the glacier front ending at the lake outlet. After the year 2000, the glacier once again receded. In 2004 it had receded to 230 metres behind the lake outlet and in 2007 the glacier front was on dry land. As Briksdalsbreen has become very narrow at some stretches, it is possible that it will disconnect from the larger Jostedalsbreen glacier in the near future. Sogn and Fjordane county, Norway.
