The hunting technique varies depending on the spider and its prey. Sometimes the spider waits in the center of the web, sometimes it sits at the edge of its burrow, with one or two legs attached to the silken thread. Once prey gets caught in the web and causes sufficient vibrations, the spider rushes towards it. Sometimes the spider goes straight for it, or shakes the web back and forth several times, often further entangling the prey, allowing it to be precisely located and identified. If prey doesn't move, the spider may lose interest; dead prey is generally ignored by spiders.
Small prey is immediately seized and often devoured straight away.
Slightly larger prey is grabbed and quickly spun; by rolling the prey in the web, a package is created that hangs from both ends of the web.
Even larger or more dangerous-looking prey is approached cautiously; the spider will first attempt to cover the prey with sticky threads from a distance using its hind legs. If the prey appears too dangerous, the spider will "free" it by biting through the threads.
The prey is eaten either on the spot, in the center of the web, or in the burrow, leaving a hole in the web. Orb-weavers "chew" their food, unlike most other spiders that suck their prey dry.

Welcome to Lecce the Baroque wonder of Apulia and depending on where you find parking this may be the first sight to greet you not Baroque itself but hinting at the wonderfully elegant viewing experience that awaits you.
The city gate pictured here is called Porto Napoli and was built to honor Charles V the Holy Roman Emperor of the day on his visit to the city, the gate itself was modeled after the Roman triumphant arches and certainly cast an impressive figure I am sure Charles was suitably impressed I know I was.
Lecce is well know to Italians but a hidden gem from tourists that flock the more well known parts of Italy which is not a shame in my opinion the city while filed with visitors during the high season doesn’t have that touristy feel and provides an authentic experience for those looking for one, I selfishly hope it remains somewhat unknown.

Banh da is a kind of noodle in Vietnam. The main ingredients are rice flour (many places use cassava, corn, green beans ... or mixed together) with the liquid. There for it with a little tapioca for a reasonable rate to get more flexible, less paper-thin and easily broken if too much cassava (tapioca) will make the noodle are sour. There is also the other additives such as sesame, salt, pepper, garlic, coconut, onion, sugar ... depending on the places
Après avoir traversé un fossé, l'entrée du château se fait par une porte de style classique, de la fin du 17e siècle, établie entre deux tours rondes dont l'origine remonte probablement au 14e siècle. Ces tours remaniées sont flanquées de bâtiments qui comprenaient un rez-de-chaussée et deux étages, dont un avec lucarnes de style Louis XIII. La cour rectangulaire était encadrée à l'ouest par des bâtiments qui ont à peu près disparu mais dont subsistent les sous-sols voûtés. Au nord se trouve un grand bâtiment transversal conservant les ruines de l'escalier monumental. Le quatrième côté de la cour n'est pas fermé. Après le bâtiment central, une grande terrasse surplombe la vallée où se trouve, plus à l'ouest, une haute tour ronde dont la base, voûtée, a été aménagée en chapelle, reliée au corps central par un bâtiment dont la voûte est effondrée. La seconde partie du domaine, plus près du village, renferme les écuries flanquées de deux pavillons. Le domaine a été détruit par un incendie, en 1799.
Consolidé, il n'a pas été reconstruit. La communauté de communes du Pays de Bidache y a mené d'importants travaux de consolidation.

When I walked the dog today, the wheelbarrow was gone. There's "no ideas but in things", but things just disappear. Meanwhile I know what the quote means to me and maybe what it means to others, but still I don't know how to translate it into German. Luckily I don't need to.
The point in translation and as well in photography is to make others believe you solved an equation, like a=b-x, but neither translation nor photography is like mathematics.
Still I try hard every day.
Perhaps the truth depends on a walk around the lake.

The design and operation of a windmill depended on various characteristics of the wind such as wind speed and changes in wind speed, wind direction and changes in wind direction, wind turbulence, and the height of the wind above the ground. An average windspeed of 15 to 25 miles per hour and a prevailing wind were necessary for operation of a mill. The critical component of a mill's operation was the sails. The force of the wind on the sails caused them to turn and rotate the axle, or windshaft, on which they were set. The brake wheel, located inside the top of the mill, also was attached to the windshaft, and its movement drove the millstones and all other machinery inside the mill.
Mills usually had four sails, but five, six, and eight-sailed mills were also built. The earilest sails were wooden, cloth-covered frames known as common sails. They were light and powerful but had to be stopped for the miller to furl the sails. As windmill design advanced, the cloth sails were replaced with sails with shutters. In 1807, William Cubitt invented a sail which could be adjusted while the sails were turning. The shutters of this sail could be opened and closed automatically and worked like venetian blinds to aid in utilizing the wind. A windmill's sails had to always be square into the "eye of the wind" as the mill was designed and balanced to resist pressure from the front only. If a mill was tail-winded, the cloths or shutters could be blown out, the cap blown off, or the mill itself blown over, often with the miller in it. Because the wind changes, the mill had to be capable of being turned into the wind whatever the direction. This was called "winding the mill." The turning gear was the tail pole, and bodily force was used to effect the turn.
The Laguna Verde covers an area of 1700 ha, and a narrow causeway divides it into two parts. It is at the southwestern extremity of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve and Bolivia itself. It has mineral suspensions of arsenic and other minerals which renders colour to the lake waters. Its color varies from turquoise to dark emerald depending on the disturbance caused to sediments in the lake by winds.
In the backdrop of the lake there is the inactive volcano Licancabur of 5,868 metres (19,252 ft) in elevation, which is a nearly perfect cone. It is believed that an ancient crypt used to be at its peak.
Icy winds are a common phenomenon there and lake waters can attain temperatures as low as -56 degree C but because of its chemical composition its waters still remain in a liquid state. It is 30 km away from Palques Lake.

Pollen can actually be several different colors depending on the plant, including pure white. Flower is Stokes Aster. A honey bee is a eusocial flying insect within the genus Apis of the bee clade, all native to Eurasia but spread to four other continents by human beings. Very small heron of marshy, well-vegetated water bodies. Adult pale orangish brown or yellow, depending on the light, with a narrow dark cap. Juvenile darker above with pale feather edges. Can be inconspicuous in dense vegetation, but frequently makes short flights; on flying birds, note dark flight feathers contrasting with pale yellowish wing coverts. Typically quiet, but occasionally gives harsh grating calls when flushed. (eBird)

We watched this bittern stealthily hunting along the bank of the lake. It expertly picked its way between the stems of the bamboo and other plants, but did not catch anything while we were there. A small and very quiet bird indeed.

Birding Singapore.
Depending on the game reserve, there are a range of activities available to the guests. On this morning I and some other guests chose to go out in a Mokoro on the Xudum River.
A Mokoro is a shallow dug out canoe, they're incredibly uncomfortable after a few hours because the seats are small cushions and there is no back support or hand grips, and hands on the gunnel are discouraged.
The Ranger, the man standing in this shot, expects you to sit very still and not cause any disturbance that may attract unwanted attention. As the river is home to hippos and crocodiles, his concerns seemed perfectly reasonable. It would be very easy for either animal to overturn the Mokoro and claim an easy meal.
That said, a morning on the river in a Mokoro, observing wildlife and birds from the river, was a worthwhile experience.

Enchanted Forest sometimes you can see the difference between day and night it just depends on your viewpoint.
La Bergeronnette des ruisseaux est très dépendante de l'eau, surtout des eaux courantes. C'est au bord de l'eau et même en eau peu profonde qu'elle recherche habituellement sa nourriture. Tous les cours d'eau sont susceptibles de l'héberger, mais elle a quand même une préférence pour les eaux torrentueuses, ce qui fait qu'elle est souvent amenée à côtoyer le Cincle plongeur.
Pour la nidification, elle a besoin d'un substrat vertical où construire son nid. À l'origine, ce devait être assez systématiquement un pan rocheux naturel présentant des irrégularités comme des fissures, des replats entre couches géologiques, des alvéoles d'usure, etc.
Le nid est le plus souvent caché à la vue par la profondeur du creux, par une pierre, une touffe d'herbe, une racine, un embâcle, etc. De nos jours, l'Homme lui fournit des sites de nidification artificiels, vieux ponts, anciens moulins, murs de soutènement, etc.
Elle peut se trouver aussi bien en milieu ouvert qu'en forêt. Il est probable qu'on puisse la trouver en agglomération lorsqu'un cours d'eau la traverse. Elle niche alors dans le bâti. L'altitude importe peu et on la trouve du niveau de la mer au domaine alpin. Elle a été trouvée nicheuse à plus de 4 000 m dans l'Himalaya par exemple.
Les oiseaux sédentaires occupent leurs eaux toute l'année, mais tous les oiseaux sous climat continental à hivers froids sont migrateurs et vont hiverner au sud de l'aire de nidification au bord des eaux douces ou marines ainsi que dans tous les milieux inondés ou très hydromorphes qu'on peut qualifier de marais au sens large. Les oiseaux d'altitude descendent vers la plaine.

Like all lichens, Xanthoria parietina depends on symbiotic algae or other organisms living within the enclosing thallus of the fungus. The algae perform photosynthesis to produce sugars. In exchange the fungus provides nutrients and an amenable environment. In this case the Trebouxia algae are widespread and often free-living, inhabiting places like tree branches. The tough thallus conserves moisture and grows thicker in sunlight to protect the algae from intense solar radiation.
Common orange lichen doesn't disperse itself as easily as many lichens. It relies on mites that feed on it, then deposit fertile faecal pellets at new locations.
This species likes coastal habitats. In the Waterloo area, it often appears near rivers or streams. This one grows on an ash overshadowing Cedar Creek. Unlike many lichen it tolerates pollution and heavy metals. Its success over other lichens may indicate higher pollution levels.

Being my own light means for me to do the things that's closest to my heart, taking the decisions that are correct for me and having the people I love close to me, in a natural distance of course, we can't devour our closest and dearest - then we suffocate them
We need balance in all things
I give you me, cause I want to
I do things I want to do, dress how I want, have the hobbies I want, taking stupid photos of myself and upload on Flickr, following my intuition, nourishing me with whatever I need, not what others think I need
Others opinion have more or less no effect, I can listen to others, but if I do what others suggest well that's my decision.
All this is for me being my own light

Being "selfish" is kind of a cursing, like we all are childen and only thinking of our own needs. But when you have fulfilled your needs, cleansed your soul and lightend it up and are in a balanced state of mind, well then you are so ready to give your love forward in an unconditional way

If I want something back I feel I don't give unconditionally
That's not the correct way for me to give

Delicada y bonita mariposa española difícil de encontrar. Está muy dispersa en pequeñas colonias. Parece ser que depende exclusivamente de Anthyllis vulneraria como planta nutricia.

- Acorn: the typically ovoid fruit or nut of an oak, enclosed at the base by a cupule.
The acorn, or oak nut, usually contains a single seed (rarely two seeds), enclosed in a tough, leathery shell, and borne in a cup-shaped cupule. Acorns vary from 1–6 cm long and 0.8–4 cm broad. Acorns take between about 6 and 24 months (depending on the species) to mature.
Acorns play an important role in forest ecology when oaks are the dominant species or are plentiful. The volume of the acorn crop may vary wildly, creating great abundance or great stress on the many animals dependent on acorns and the predators of those animals. Acorns, along with other nuts, are termed mast.
Wildlife which eat acorns as an important part of their diets include birds, such as jays, pigeons, some ducks, and several species of woodpeckers. Small mammals that feed on acorns include mice, squirrels and several other rodents.
Large mammals such as pigs, bears, and deer also consume large amounts of acorns; they may constitute up to 25% of the diet of deer in the autumn.
Some animals, such as squirrels and jays serve as seed dispersal agents. Jays and squirrels that scatter-hoard acorns in caches for future use, effectively plant acorns in a variety of locations in which it is possible for them to germinate and thrive.
Even though jays and squirrels retain remarkably large mental maps of cache locations and return to consume them, the odd acorn may be lost, or a jay or squirrel may die before consuming all of its stores. A small number of acorns manage to germinate and survive, producing the next generation of oaks.

Afhankelijk van het weer vallen de meeste eikels in september en oktober. De hoeveelheid zaad die eiken produceren verschilt erg per jaar. Gaaien, zoals ‘Vlaamse gaaien’ officieel heten, zijn echte verzamelaars. Van eikels wel te verstaan. Ze leggen er een wintervoorraad van aan. De gaaien nemen de eikels mee in hun keel en stoppen ze een eindje verderop onder de grond. Een enkele gaai kan in het najaar zo duizenden eikels verstoppen. Gedurende de winter zoekt de gaai zijn voorraadplekken op. Zelfs in het voorjaar worden jongen nog gevoerd met ontkiemde eikels.

Like other toucans, the Emerald toucanet is brightly marked and has a large bill. The adult is 30–35 cm (12–14 in) long. The sexes are alike in appearance, although the female generally is smaller and slightly shorter-billed.
Juveniles are duller, including the throat, and, depending on subspecies, the black areas of the bill are replaced with dusky or the bill is entirely yellowish.
The Emerald toucanet is a generally common in humid forest and woodland, mainly at higher elevations.

Although the window is the same, not everyone who looks out sees the same things: the view depends on the gaze.
Where you have a lake and a shrine, it creates a variety of scenes depending on the season and the time of the day. This is Shakujii park, Tokyo. I wanted to make use of the blue sky and the sporadic white clouds, so I explored the map of this park at home and chose this spot. I just chose it so that I could face the Sun over the lake with the shrine on the side, but I did not know what I would get. I was pleasantly surprised!
Of course the opposite shore was pretty dark because it was facing away from the Sun, so I had to raise the shadows significantly in the processing.

確かに向こうの岸は日の反対側に向けていたのですごく暗かった。後処理でかなり上げる必要があった。

Vor einer Woche nach Sonnenuntergang an der Mosel.
Je nach Jahreszeit hat man die Möglichkeit, auf einer Strecke von gut einem Kilometer immer eine passende Baumgruppe zu finden, hinter der die Sonne untergeht und sich anschließend der golden leuchtende Abendhimmel entwickelt.
Zum Glück zog dann auch noch links eine Schleierwolke ins Bild.
Solche Abendstimmungen hat man dort oft dann, wenn es nachmittags dunstig ist und es nach Sonnenuntergang schnell abkühlt.
Depending on how you look at things one of these fruit is pretending to be a pear--or, two pears are pretending to be a tangello. When I saw this unusually shaped orange in the store, I knew I had to photograph it with other fruit. All made for a lovely fruit salad! : )
This scene reminds me of shows back in the day like "Front Page Challenge" or "???" (can't remember the name of the show) where panelists had to guess who the hidden person was, or who among 3 guests was the real whomever, after asking whatever questions they could to suss out the truth.
