69004 passes St Denys with 4Y19 (Q) 12.30 Mountfield-Southampton Western Docks gypsum empties on 07/07/23.
if at first you do not succeed try, try, again! I have to give this squirrel an A+ for effort. He tries several times a day to get around the squirrel guard to our bird feeder with no luck :))
This is our main road, an 'A' road, the A861 from the ferry to Acharacle. Today, going round one of the blind bends I spotted an 18 tonne, 10 wheel truck coming the other way. Coming to a fast stop, I switched into reverse and zoomed 100 yards back to the last passing place (easily done with reversing cameras) and then sat patiently as approximately 20, M3, M4, M5 series BMWs, a trio of Porsches and a lone TVR boomed past. Boy, they must have loved being stuck behind that truck all the way from Strontian. Quite why they were on this road I have no idea. It's not part of the NC500 that they think it is all such fun to drive on, although I can't deny the the A861 has its own attractions apart from meeting the 'Red Danger' on a blind bend
GBRf class 69 rebuild 69004 (formerly 56069) in retro BR Research Dept livery works 4Y19 12.30 Mountfield (British Gypsum)-Southampton Western Docks past St Denys on 27/05/22.
GBRf 69002 'Bob Tiller CM & EE' passes Southampton Up Yard with another 4Y19 12.30 Mountfield-Southampton Western Docks gypsum empties on 05/08/22.
Currently the most reliable of GBRf's class 69's, 69003 works a 4Y19 13.30 Tonbridge Yard-Southampton Western Docks past St.Denys on 24/05/22. This was actually the previous days train from Mountfield following the failure of 69001 !

Gbrf pair 69004 & 69003 are seen on the SWML at Mount Pleasant crossing, St Denys on the 20th of April 2022, working the 12:30 4Y19 empty gypsum from Mountfield Sidings to Southampton West Docks.
69004 has only recently returned from Longport after receiving attention for an issue with its fuel pump, so it was an ideal opportunity to go on test along with classmate 69003, which was there for insurance purposes.
69004 + 69002 head 4Y19 the 12.30hrs Mountfield Sidings - Southampton Western Docks past St Denys after 69004 was attached at Eastleigh Yard for the return working.

The Parish Church of Saint Denys
The small estate village of Aswarby sits just off the A15 a few miles south of Sleaford, the main road skirts around the park and a lane leads up to the church, the lodge and a some neat stone estate cottages. Aswarby Hall was rebuilt for Sir Thomas Whichcote by H E Kendall in 1836, the Hall was requisitioned by the armed forces in WW2 and fell into neglect after the war, the building was eventually demolished in 1951.
Aswarby Hall was the setting for M R James's short ghost story 'Lost Hearts'.
The parish church is dedicated to St Denys, it is a large county church with a 12th century font, 15th century west tower and crocketed spire.
George Bass was a naval surgeon and explorer of Australia and Tanzania and was born in the village in 1771. The Bass Straits, a sea strait separating Tasmania from the Australian mainland are named after him.

This classic location looking towards the Millennium Stadium in the heart of Cardiff is well known to us all. I always thought that the parapet on the bridge was too high and covered up to much of the loco / train. With my recent acquisition of a mini drone I thought that a little extra elevation would make the shot a little better, however it had slipped my mind that most football / sports stadiums are geo fenced thus preventing being overlooked by drones. This was as close as I could get and the limited resolution on the DJI Mini 2 means zooming in or overcropping would deteriorate the picture too much.
The train in the Foreground is a 769 on a service from Penarth to Bargoed crossing the River Taff..
