Short Story:
"The three demon lords promised the village three years of bountiful harvests, asking for nothing but simple offerings in return. Thrice the grain yields flowed seemingly evermore, the lords true to their word. Though time passed, it turned out the village fool's prophecy foretold was real all along, and in the end, the entire village was folly.
First, the Lord of the Sea surfaced wreathed with their horns that shone like seashells, yet its ember glow betrayed any illusion of innocence. Next, the Lord of Bones arose from the village graveyard, and with that foul creature was our most ancient of warriors. Lastly, the Lord of Ash erupted from the mountains alongside brimstone before their hooves immolated the village’s crops, striding adorned with onyx horns first mistaken for a crown.
And that my students are the lessons to be learned when asking demons for favors. We will learn more about the ruins tomorrow, do not forget to bring your banishment spells!"

I noticed the art first on this side entrance into a backyard off Queen street east; then I noticed all the weird shapes made by the light and shadows. It wasn't till I looked at it on the computer screen that I noticed all the face shapes mainly in the lower right. Interesting.
In my mind I see them
lurking in the old world roots.
Looking out from beneath the moss, covered in muck and filth, they seek out souls with there snoots.
The demons climb out one by one, following the branch's out into the world, wearing suits.
Screaming loudly and frighting as they go, scary, nasty, hellish brutes.
Eating souls and haunting the minds, they find there victims and send the leftovers down the chutes.
Angels rush in, in our defense, chasing them back to the darkest of places. Singing and playing there sweet soulful flutes.

As it became, she knew that if she opened her mouth they would come crawling out. She did. She wanted them out, she wanted to purge the demons inside of her. She wanted the creatures to run free and wild and away from her. The thoughts. The evil thoughts that made her anxious, that made her crawl with fear and sadness and the certainty that everything was going to go wrong. She wanted them out. She would cut herself, but that would show and she didn’t want anyone knowing. She would throw herself off a building, but that would cause pain to the people she loved, and she didn’t want that, either. She just wanted the bad thoughts to go away. She just wanted them to fade, to become unimportant. She wanted death to stop being a part of her brain, the most prominent part. She wanted the sadness and the questioning and the fear and the anxiety to be a part of her past. So she opened her mouth and let them run away, let them go and flee and go some place so far that they could never be seen again.
She might need to do it again tomorrow. And the day after that and for as long as she existed. It was exhausting. But at least it was something she could do.

I know. It's getting darker and darker by the week. I just kind of can't help myself. I'm having trouble keeping my head above the water and it's weighing on me and it's just utterly exhausting. It'll get better. I know it will. I just need to find a way for my brain to stop working like this. But I will. I always have, I'll find it this time, too.
