Demolition works near Espermühle in Kaufbeuren. Building project Forettle.

Abbrucharbeiten an der Espermühle in Kaufbeuren in Verbindung mit dem Bauprojekt Forettle.

I've been checking on this building since its late August appearance on the city's delay list for demolition but it's now imminent for this post-Fire building. Plans are to replace it and the parking garage to the west with a 33-story apartment tower. The building is orange-rated for historic significance in the Historic Resources Survey, but the delay review period elapsed and a permit was issued to demolish.

It is one of about 15 extant Loop buildings erected immediately following the Great Chicago Fire. But a third of those, including 209 West Lake, have not been protected by city landmark ordinance. It's estimated this building dates to 1872-1874, supported by the presence of tiered window hoods detailing an Italianate facade.

Recently the local ruined house has been demo'ed and thought i'd give it a send off before it was just a pile of rubble.

First outing with camera since lockdown to grab a few shots, another beauty of a day here.

Probably of more interest than the bus in this shot are the houses behind on the right as they are scheduled for demolition as part of the continued redevelopment of the North Prospect (or Swilly if you prefer!) estate.

Plymouth is an ever changing scene building wise which makes it a great place to come and view the varied architecture, the E200 passing the demolition site has plundered the streets of the city for coming up to 12 years, a lot has changed since 2008!

Demolition continues on the former St Mary’s Medical Center in downtown Duluth. This is the place where Bob Dylan was born in 1941. The hospital served from 1881 until 2023 when a new center was constructed.

Or rather, the remains as of August 24, 2016.

A new bus terminal, a new overall traffic solution and.....a new shopping mall.

The latter is exactly what this city needs.

Any area, any suburb with some sort of selfrespect, have a shopping mall.

So, consequently, the city council came up with the brilliant idea to add another one, in what used to be a pretty nice part of the city.

went to the demolition derby for shits and giggles, turned out to be really exciting and a litttle racist.

Construction, Week 62 (Demolition, Week 2)

As you’ve probably seen by now thanks to swift, detailed coverage from l_dawg2000, the Hernando Millennium Kroger has finally begun meeting its end this week (well, beyond what we saw last Friday, anyway). These pictures are from day two of demolition – yesterday, Monday, October 3rd, 2016 – and come to flickr thanks to my awesome dad, who has promised to stay on top of this for me while I’m college-ing…

EDIT: Speaking of college, Ole Miss’s lovely wifi went down as I was about to post these last night, so when I say “yesterday” I mean Monday, and “today/tonight” refers to Tuesday…
