D-L train PT97 rolls into Scranton with a short train and plenty of horses on a gorgeous September afternoon. The 3000 sure did look good in the fresh paint.
Most of the December snow is now gone but it is still winter and the views outside are somewhat dreary. So it is time for me to long for spring and summer when I can hunt for wildflowers and chase after butterflies. The little skippers are especially fun to try to capture, but hard for me to identify correctly. Delaware Skipper is the best guess of my ID app.

The Delaware & Hudson had several run-through trains with the Lehigh Valley. One of those trains, symbol MA-2 (Mechanicsville – Allentown) is seen here approaching the village of Siegfried, just north of Northampton, Pennsylvania. In just four days, the D&H will increase its route-miles tremendously, being named the competitive alternative to Conrail in the northeast. To help support the additional traffic, the D&H will be given 47 Lehigh Valley and Reading locomotives, neatly patched in their former owners’ paint. This will greatly reduce the odds of seeing pure lightning stripe sets, such as this RS36/U23B/U23B/RS36 lashup.

Just playing around really. My Scituate Lighthouse image much better than this one.
The Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse, located in the Delaware Bay just off Cape Henlopen, Delaware, is a 72-foot tower that still serves as a navigation aid to ships. This structure was built in 1926, replacing another lighthouse built in 1908. The Delaware River & Bay Lighthouse Foundation currently preserves the lighthouse. I took this shot while on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, shortly before it landed in Lewes, Delaware. Explore 262, 9/19/15.

Rewinding the clock a bit back to October for this view of Delaware Lackwanna's PT97 heading west through the Delaware Water Gap near Slateford, PA. Hidden behind the trees immediately behind on the train is the Delaware River, and the hills in the background are actually in New Jersey! The 4 unit set of Alco and MLW products is a consist only the DL could assemble.

We went to the Delaware Water Gap on Monday. I took my camera and didn't like the color of my photos so I set my AWB to "Cloudy" and it turned everything brownish which wasn't the true color but it ended up making a pretty image.

The Maryland and Delaware sets off out of Federalsburg, Maryland for Delaware with RS3m #1203 pulling six cars. The trackage is part of the former PRR Cambridge Branch, now the MDDE Seaford Line, and is one of three branches on the Delmarva Peninsula that make up the MDDE system.
The two C424m’s that served as as helpers from Hornell are now leading the Delaware & Hudson salt train over the Genesee & Wyoming at Griegsville, New York. NOTE: My slide is labeled as being at Griegsville, but I can’t find anything that resembles this scene on Google maps. Pleae let me know if this is another location.
After the Delaware & Hudson’s expansion as a result of the Conrail merger, the D&H was short of power, and looked in all directions for additional locomotives. One solution came in the form of a group of ex-Long Island high hood C420’s that had outlived their lease to the LIRR. Although they were patched as D&H assets, I don’t believe that they were around for very long. Here two of them are sandwiched between an ex-LV C420 and an M-K RS3 rebuild on a northbound train (westbound on this line) departing Allentown, Pennsylvania.
