The faded sepia version adjacent is the original print, a contact from a 16 on 120 roll film camera. This is probably close to the original.
The locomotives were not particularly successful. They were poor steamers and difficult to fire because of the long firebox, flat at the back and then sloping. But there seem to have been other problems. As four cylinder locomotives, they would have required only two sets of valve gear if it was not for the decision to set the cranks at 135 degrees. Given the success of the Star/Castle four cylinder locomotives based on the de Glehn configuration, one wonders why the Southern engines did not follow the design closely?
Holcroft, one of the Southern Raiway's design team, had been at Swindon from 1906 until he joined the South Eastern & Chatham in 1914. He would have been familiar with this outstandingly successful type, which was in production from 1923 until 1950 and of which the eight surviving examples continue as a mainstay of main line steam operation.

Iowa 8man high school state playoffs 1st round 10-27-17. HLV Warriors at home vs Lone Tree. HLV won 59-22 against a tough opponent who beat them earlier in season (same win record). Lone Tree had a comeback after halftime (16 pts away) but HLV put it away in 4th, very exciting. Great game but very cold, freezing, misty-wet-windy air. HLV finished regular 2017 season 8-2, 6-0 in conference.
New Delhi: Even before the party could deflect the negative publicity it attracted over the Sandeep Kumar CD case, the AAP finds itself in the midst of yet another controversy after a party MLA raised concerns of “debauchery” in the party.
Devinder Sehrawat, party MLA from Bijwasan, has written to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying he had heard that senior partymen in Delhi and Punjab are exploiting women. Importantly, he admitted he had no proof to substantiate these reports.
"I saw disturbing reports about women being exploited in Punjab in return for, or on promise of, a ticket. Am meeting people in Chandigarh... Delhi MLAs are unaware about what is being done by (senior party members) in Punjab," the Times of India quotes Sehrawat as saying in the letter.
Treading cautiously, the AAP has chosen not to react to Sehrawat's comments. However, party leader Dilip Pandey said that the party will respond to such baseless allegations.
Meanwhile, former AAP minister Sandeep Kumar is now under arrest on allegations of raping a woman.

Hawker had been privately developing a vertical take off aircraft since the 1950s under the code of P.1127. The success of this private venture, and the subsequent service interest, led to an announcement in 1962 that a 'tripartite evaluation squadron' (TES) would be formed.
The Kestrel was a developed version of the P.1127 and nine of the type were ordered for use by the TES during its operations in 1965. The TES was based at RAF West Raynham and included pilots from the UK, USA and West Germany. Its role was to evaluate the vertical take off Kestrel in near service conditions.
As well as West Raynham the TES also used two nearby abandoned airfields as semi-prepared sites. Buckenham Tofts in the Stanford Training Area was used as an unprepared site and allowed the squadron to hide their aircraft in wooded areas.
The success of the Kestrel came little more than a year before its successor, the Harrier, made its first flight. Harriers would be in RAF service until 2011.

The deflector dish housing with the blue LED strip covered by one disc of transparent blue styrene. Later I will add 6 layers of thin styrofoam packing sheet. I also traced the housing's shape onto masking tape covering another piece of the same transparent blue styrene to be cut out into an oval ring.

"I'm not playing games," Krzyzewski said. "But I'm proud of the fact that we've been there for four decades, that we're at least knocking on the door. Five times the door let us completely in.

Not exactly what the coach meant when he says "Keep your eye on the ball." He went to get checked out by dad and was back in the batters box after a few minutes to finish the at bat.
