Since it began in 2006, the Oakland Art Murmur has been described in military terms, “Hipster Invasion” being one of the most prominent. Young white artists pushed out of San Francisco due to sky-rocketing rents moving into the ghettos of Oakland and building a community for themselves there. The issues were all there: Gentrification, cultural appropriation, and the definition of art. Yet what started with a small collective of seven galleries coordinating their calendars to each participate in a “First Fridays” art walk has doubled and continues to grow. And although more established, some of those core issues remain.
Two years before the Oakland Art Murmur began, the <a hrefWeekend Wake-Up was forming in the midst of a different type of gentrification, in the newly built Fruitvale plaza. Both movements started small and proceeded to build up a community around their events. Yet, while the Art Murmur, by its nature, remained in a specific region, the Weekend Wake-Up consistently reached out to new communities, neighborhoods and populations, ending up at the steps of Rock Paper Scissors. Thus, a strange yet beautiful collaboration was born.
Rock Paper Scissors (RPS) exemplifies the Art Murmur’s Do It Yourself hipster aesthetic. However, under their surface, they are reaching beyond their cultural stratosphere through one of the few non-judgmental populations left: the youth. They offer classes at MetWest high school as well as airbrushing and other fashion related activities at the1ir site on Telegraph Ave.
While supporting RPS’ stated goal to “strengthen local communities and encourage sustainable practices and alternative models,” the Weekend Wake-Up brings a rawer form of culture to the table, reminiscent of the neighborhood before cafes and condos. It’s a challenging synthesis, but organizers from all sides of the collaboration are excited by a hip-hop resurgence in the area.
Leading the way is COV Records, a community based music and recording center for youth, whose studio at 28th and Telegraph is only 5 blocks away from RPS. COV artists have been to regularly sell their CDs at the Art Murmur, who have proven to be an interested market.
April 4th marks the first time that the Art Murmur will actually experience a performance by those same COV artists. Accompanied by Lunar Heights’ emcees Jern Eye and Spear of the Nation as well as Knobody from the Hieroimperium, the youth plan to give the murmur a full dosage of all four elements of hip-hop. Expect the unexpected as spray-can legends Crayone, King 157, Dzyer and Rush put on a live aerosol demonstration and DJs Jus Jones and Smokestack serve up classic old skool breaks for the b-boys and b-girls. Other performers include NaR, a queer Arab hip-hop crew; Kensho Kuma, Virtuous, a locking showcase by Groovmekanex, and a special set by Ms. Bashir the Songbird featuring DJ Twelvz. Hosted by Orukusaki.

Entry for "book" or "liber" in A Latin Dictionary by Lewis & Short -- the tome that got me through graduate school. I continue to be fascinated by Latin as well as word origins, so this book still gets plenty of use.
Paying $6.50 for a beer is insanity. And the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over. Hell, that's crazy.

There are lots of different trails wandering through this part of Kettle Moraine, including some cross-country ski trails that cross the Ice Age Trail's path. We saw these guys running down one of the ski trails when we crossed it. I didn't realize it at the time (and I'm kind of sad I didn't), but these guys had probably gotten turned around somewhere and were running someplace they didn't mean to be.
I say this, because shortly after this, we encountered about 600 runners jogging up behind us on our trail. It started out as just a trickle, but it didn't take long for it to become a torrent of runners on our little trails, so after the Stone Elephant, we decided to turn around and walk into the current back to our car.
It seems that we had inadvertently timed our visit to Kettle Moraine with the Kettle Moraine 100, an annual 30-hour, hundred-mile competitive run along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail through the South Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest. The race has been running since 1996, which is great because that's about how long it would take me to run 100 miles through the Wisconsin woods.
They also offer concurrent, shorter runs of 100 km, 38 miles, and a 100-mile relay ... which, honestly, isn't better. Most of the races started at 6 am Saturday morning and would go all day and all night until the cut-off at noon on Sunday. The 38-mile race--which they inexplicably call the "Fun Run"--started around noon, a couple of hours before we got here, so I figure those were most of the people we were seeing. They all seemed far too refreshed for people who'd been up running since 6.
There was a time in my life when I was into running, and I probably would have been intrigued by this if I'd known it existed. Now, my ankles hurt just looking at the picture.

Attached is our picture.
This is my wife and my son. My son marched the whole way, he was with us from 8am till the end. He waited patiently for the march to start. He’s autistic, we’re so proud of him.
We came to NYC from Eagle, CO. My brother and sister marched in the 60’s. I’ve said for years that nothing will change until we all march. And march we did. This is just the beginning. We need to keep marching and keep moving our feet. Power is never ceded until there’s demand. We need to show Washington we’re sick and tired, and we’re not going to take it anymore.
We have solar panels, we practice what we preach. We have conservative friends who believe the same as we do, who believe that clean air, food and water is not political.
Next, we need to take to D.C. We need to get millions of people to march on D.C. to protest; climate change, the loss of our democracy, the fact that money has taken over our country, the loss of the middle class. Call me if you want to know more.

Der Borsigturm ist ein Hochhaus von 1922 auf dem Firmengelände der Tegeler Borsigwerke, das je nach Definition als erstes Hochhaus Berlins gilt. Die beengten Platzverhältnisse auf dem Werksgelände sollen den Anstoß zum Turmbau gegeben haben. Der Turm entstand als Stahlskelettbau, dessen Fassaden aus Backstein gemauert sind. Durch den Einbau eines Wasserbehälters in der neunten Etage diente er anfänglich auch als Wasserturm. Architekt dieses ersten Berliner Hochhauses war Eugen Schmohl, der wenig später auch das Ullsteinhaus in Tempelhof baute. Schnell wurde der Turm, der als Bürogebäude genutzt wurde, zum Wahrzeichen der Borsigwerke. In den 1970er und 1990er Jahren wurde er renoviert und weiter als Bürogebäude genutzt.
Das Innere war für Besucher bis 2009 nicht zugänglich. Seitdem sind erstmals drei Ebenen des Borsigturms als Veranstaltungsräume öffentlich nutzbar. Die zweigeschossige Lounge in der Turmspitze bietet auf 60 Meter Höhe einen Panoramablick über die Stadt. Der neu entstandene „Meistersaal“ im Erdgeschoss verbindet Industriearchitektur mit moderner technischer Ausstattung. Neben öffentlichen Veranstaltungen können die Räume auch für Privat- und Firmenveranstaltungen angemietet werden

Dissolutional feature, or - as I like to call them - a "pseudo-cave", set in the Devonian aged Columbus Limestone.
This is not a true cave! Many would be tempted to call it that, but it does not qualify as a cave by definition. The definition of a true cave is a void in bedrock that an adult human can fit into and that goes beyond the twilight zone, meaning that no sunlight reaches it. This pocket only goes about ~4.5 meters back and sunlight does reach that far back.
This is known as a "karst" feature. Karst is landscape that is underlain by carbonates and is eroded by dissolution that results in sinkholes, caves, etc ....
These features are common in the Columbus Limestone, including true caves (just not here). The Columbus Limestone is a light-colored gray or brown, fossiliferous, thick to massive bedded limestone that is mainly a wackestone, but varies to a packstone in some areas where there are a large number of fossils packed in to one area (this is also known as a fossil "hash"). The uppermost part, shown here, also contains a bone bed of phosphoric fish bones. The Columbus Eifelian age of the early Middle Devonian.
This unit is subdivided into three members. From upper to lowermost, they are the Delphi, Eversol, and Bellepoint Members. These are further subdivided into sub-members named from letters A-H (going from lower to upper). This dissolution is preferential to the contact of sub-members G and H. This is due to the deposition of the Tioga Ash Bed at this interval. This ash bed is a marker for the Middle Devonian and can be a named unit due to its thickness in other area. At this locality, it occurs below the formation's contact with the overlying Delaware Limestone, though it can also occur at the contact of other, equivalent formations of the same age.

REDEFINING RELATIONSHIP
You view the term 'relationship' as a term that is an involvement of more than one thing. And as I have expressed, in shifting you are redefining terms.
