Most students accurately use the definition of momentum thanks to sports. If an announcer says "The Phillies have a lot of momentum this year," most people know that means "hard to stop." The two things that make something hard to stop in physics are mass and velocity, and the equation for momentum is pretty simple, mass times velocity. The first set of problems we'll be covering in our Momentum unit have to do with changing something's momentum. That's called impulse, and it's definition is at the bottom of this slide.
There are lots of different trails wandering through this part of Kettle Moraine, including some cross-country ski trails that cross the Ice Age Trail's path. We saw these guys running down one of the ski trails when we crossed it. I didn't realize it at the time (and I'm kind of sad I didn't), but these guys had probably gotten turned around somewhere and were running someplace they didn't mean to be.
I say this, because shortly after this, we encountered about 600 runners jogging up behind us on our trail. It started out as just a trickle, but it didn't take long for it to become a torrent of runners on our little trails, so after the Stone Elephant, we decided to turn around and walk into the current back to our car.
It seems that we had inadvertently timed our visit to Kettle Moraine with the Kettle Moraine 100, an annual 30-hour, hundred-mile competitive run along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail through the South Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest. The race has been running since 1996, which is great because that's about how long it would take me to run 100 miles through the Wisconsin woods.
They also offer concurrent, shorter runs of 100 km, 38 miles, and a 100-mile relay ... which, honestly, isn't better. Most of the races started at 6 am Saturday morning and would go all day and all night until the cut-off at noon on Sunday. The 38-mile race--which they inexplicably call the "Fun Run"--started around noon, a couple of hours before we got here, so I figure those were most of the people we were seeing. They all seemed far too refreshed for people who'd been up running since 6.
There was a time in my life when I was into running, and I probably would have been intrigued by this if I'd known it existed. Now, my ankles hurt just looking at the picture.

Clothing or jewelry worn around the neck: this is the basic dictionary definition for a necklace; yet, there used to be much more to it than a simple fashionable accessory that completes a trendy casual or elegant dress. To the ancient people, a necklace meant a lot more than a mere decorative item: first of all, the manufacturing process was a lot more difficult than it is today, and jewels as such were plainly used to suggest some form of differentiation or belonging to a group or a class. Wood, rocks, plant beads, shells, gems and so on, were all used in the design of neck jewelry.
Past symbolism has partly survived in the special nature of a certain type of necklace: many Christians now wear a cross or a crucifix as a faith epitome. Such a necklace is considered to protect and help the wearer in difficulty by its direct connection with Jesus Christ, His Love and Sacrifice for humanity. Nevertheless, there are some who wear the cross necklace out of sheer decorative pleasure, without attaching any hidden meaning to it; such cases would definitely explain the wide variety of cross-like jewelry that is presently available on the market.
The way a woman wears a necklace is completely different from the way a man does; this is basically relevant for the fact that for the latter, the necklace is a way of drawing attention to the cleavage. A necklace doesn't suggest sexuality, it only accents femininity, charm, elegance and the fine curves of a delicate neck. Men on the other hand wear some choke-type necklace models that have a mere decorative function; yet they still send a clear message about the wearer: he is interested in good looks, trendy in style and therefore, a man of his times.
Offering a necklace as a gift is more than common nowadays, and we often have the tendency of attaching some form of emotional value to it. People come to associate a piece of jewelry with the dear one that presented it to them, and this is how mothers leave their necklaces to their daughters and so on. Even the most common necklace could mean a fortune for someone when it is about more than mere good looks. Except for such unique cases, wearing a necklace is now part of the daily routine that requires us to look nice and trendy both for ourselves and for the others.
Kids indulge in various activities and play virtually all day round. Getting bruises, cuts or wounds is very expected and normal. However, there are a few kids who are able to not easily cure even the fundamental wounds. The reason why behind this may be hemophilia. The question now arises,...

Resort photos of Jade Resort on Quadra Island, BC are usually taken from the water and highlight the sail like nature of their cabins. To me this view of the resort will forever bring to my mind tranquility. It is taken from the first floor landing of my cabin looking down at the lodge’s main meeting centre. Steeped in a long history of wonderful stories for the place it has played on Quadra Island over the years and adorned by amazing carvings of wildlife, this lodge is amazing. A great place for meetings, fireside chats, a game of pool, or simply a dry spot to ocean watch during a storm, the building wraps you in warmth and lends itself to embrace all that enter. @jaderesortquadra

"I use the term Craft Brewery to describe a small brewery, using traditional methods and ingredients, to produce a handcrafted, uncompromised beer that is marketed locally. "
—Vince Cottone
Good Beer Guide: Brewers and Pubs of the Pacific Northwest (1986), p.9

▶ “I can’t swear I was the ‘first’ to use the term [craft brewery], but I also don’t remember any source I borrowed it from. Possibly CAMRA used it in the UK before me, and, in fact, I traveled there in 1984 and ’85. If they did use it, their usage was probably very casual, and I don’t think they made any attempt to define it or promote it as something like an appellation. I know of no brewing company that used it prior to my book.”

REDEFINING RELATIONSHIP
You view the term 'relationship' as a term that is an involvement of more than one thing. And as I have expressed, in shifting you are redefining terms. This is one of the terms that is being redefined. I will acknowledge will be a difficult term to redefine. For this term of relationship in the remembrance, in the knowing of who you are in the genuineness of identity is not involving more than one thing. It is the state of being of recognition and experience that all of the things, whether they be inanimate manifestations in your terms or living manifestations, that they are not merely connected to you, but that you ARE them.

[EDIT: I have replaced the original with a treatment I, at least, like a little better.]
I have been on Flickr for just over a year now. As happens no matter where I go, I have found people who have taught me so much. And I'm not talking about photography.
In my time here, I have met couples who are exploring their creativity, couples who whose relationships were "born" on Flickr, individuals who are developing their art with the support of loving in-the-background significant others, and individuals who used Flickr to help experience the greatest love of all - the love of self. I wish I could thank everyone of these "teachers" individually or even call them all by name. That's just not possible. But I am grateful to them.
As I hope this photo illustrates, I have had a lot of questions - and inadequate replies - on this topic throughout my life.
But I am grateful for a lot of answers I have found here just by observing.

I Want To Know What Love Is
as performed by Foreigner
I gotta take a little time
A little time to think things over
I better read between the lines
In case I need it when Im older
Now this mountain I must climb
Feels like a world upon my shoulders
I through the clouds I see love shine
It keeps me warm as life grows colder
In my life theres been heartache and pain
I dont know if I can face it again
Cant stop now, Ive traveled so far
To change this lonely life
I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
I know you can show me
Im gonna take a little time
A little time to look around me
Ive got nowhere left to hide
It looks like love has finally found me
In my life theres been heartache and pain
I dont know if I can face it again
I cant stop now, Ive traveled so far
To change this lonely life
I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
I know you can show me
I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
And I wanna feel, I want to feel what love is
And I know, I know you can show me
Lets talk about love
I wanna know what love is, the love that you feel inside
I want you to show me, and Im feeling so much love
I wanna feel what love is, no, you just cannot hide
I know you can show me, yeah
I wanna know what love is, lets talk about love
I want you to show me, I wanna feel it too
I wanna feel what love is, I want to feel it too
And I know and I know, I know you can show me
Show me love is real, yeah
I wanna know what love is...
OK, so you let something with potential energy go. What does it do? It moves. What gives a moving object the ability to do work (eg smash a car?) It can be moving really fast or it can be really massive. Unfortunately, the kinetic energy equation is more complicated than this. It also has a 1/2 and a square term. AP Physics C: Mechanics will learn why, but without calculus, the origin of these parts of the equation will be hard to describe. The square term has some very serious real-world consequences, though, and we'll play with it quite a bit in class.
"Work in" definition from Eureka!
I am a huge HUGE fan of rocky movies. I love it so much because there's no other movie where i've seen the protagonist knocked down repeatedly, bruised, broken, seemingly defeated...only to dig deep and find an intrinsic strength only known to him and him alone..... That's the zone that i am currently in......
Naturally speaking, if i was to trip and fall while walking down a crowded city block.....I would look a bit out of place to just lay there and never get up. People would view me not as a downtrodden individual who's been through things....but just plain wierd....I am working on carrying the same mindset mentally. I intend to pick myself up and walk...as if nothing ever happened. Not blindly..but more cautiously, more aware, and a hell of a lot more confident in the peace my heart has developed...the one that surpasses all understanding....

Some of my favourite portraits.
I know how these people work out day after day, I admired the definition in the muscle tones, textures and tendons.
The result is what I had imagined, the proud profile, the hair, and THE DEFINITION.
I love dramatic lighting, especially for this kind of subject.
Thank you, M, (*_*)
