Stoking the bonfire before the younguns arrived to torture some marshmellows.
As I looked at the way the firemaster was shielding his face and eyes, the title began to take shape - and it just fit.
I was reviewing my photographs I didnt select as the 'chosen ones' and came across this one. I had never noticed the splash before probably because the origonal looks horrible with too much smoke and a bad colour ballance. So after some post production I managed to clear some of the smoke and add some drama to the shot. I hope someone likes it..

Flickr shooting in rural North Carolina. Lots of testosterone, but the guys settled things by comparing the length of their lenses. I, as a good girl should do, made fun of their lenses.
we are the stars that sing, we sing with our light, we are the birds of fire, we fly over the sky. Our light is a voice, we make a road for the spirits to pass over, for the spirits to pass over...we are like the wind, wrapped in luminous wings, we make a road for the spirits to pass over, for the spirits to pass over...(dead can dance - spiritchaser, song of the stars)
Un Bach - Dau Hwyr.
Waiting for the Sun, disconnected from, undone.
Remembering the future is confidently spinning
Way out, beyond the sea, beyond this Galaxy
in another time-zone
Where spiders in sparkling Mulberry leaf droplets
cultivated a wilderness of maroon winds
and scattered wheelie bins
careening the narrow waste-ground lanes.
This massive fire ball turns away again
Steering shadows up your street
chased downhill on roller skates
permanent winds of change
green, pink and blue, ochre yellow too
a rosary of toasted bread
The tide she rides retreats behind a mask
She sleeps away.
